Before chritianity was accepted by the Roman Empire Christians were persecuted and killed. They used to hide and prey in secret. One way to find out if someone was a fellow Christian was to draw the shape of the fish on the ground, if the other person was a Christian he would finish of the fish by drawing the eye. I think it's stems from Jesus helping the fishermen by telling them to cast their nets over the other side of the boat!

I think perhaps too much is being read into the disaster in New Orleans.
