New to the forum, not to the game. I play guitar and drums. Been playing guitar about 7 years, just started drums a couple months ago

I joined the forums at the said date on my profile. I have, however, been looking at metaltabs since Paul De Jaegher owned the site. When it had nu-metal tabs. I was thrilled when Nomad took over and converted it into something decent (I'm guessing Paul sold the domain name). HOORAH! I think that is the story. The previous owner runs www.angelfire.com/bc/tablature now.

I don't think Walpurgis was too active in June of 2003. Atleast, I don't remember it. I know Slayme and PST were.

I remember when this used to be called, www.ATMETAL.com.

Now, my credits here should be impeccable, since I signed up so long ago I remember people with names like PPhead, Houston, Ironlungs, when slayme was spamming for the POS, when nomad used to participate in the conversations, was pretty much the only mod, and all the girls had a crush on him. Actually, probably only slayme and nomad have been around longer, with sane about the same amount of time. Anyway, when I first signed up, it was about the first big wave of newbies, which means I was more or less one of the first buncha young dumb fulla cum cunts to ever flood into the forums and piss off the established cunts, cause a few to drop off, and replace 'em. If I had to guess, I'd say it was a few months after the forums started, that being about the length of time it takes for a generation to pass on an internet forum. It was about five years ago. So, since I left last year, that means it took me about four years to get sick of this place. Four years and the Doctor becoming a mod. So, what I'm saying is:

Also: atmetal was his site before he got metaltabs, but they're still more or less the same thing. A while back, if you went to atmetal you got redirected here, where the forums looked exactly the same, all the same people were moderators, and so on. atmetal would've become this even if he hadn't acquired this domain.

By the way, anybody who quotes this entire thing to respond to it deserves death by sex toys, so I sincerely hope I don't see that happening, because, entertaining as it sounds, death by sex toys is not a pleasant sight.

Before I start, somebody help me out: is Transient the new weijia? Chris here makes it sound that way, but I'm new to these parts as they are now, so I can honestly say I don't know shit.

Not that it matters much, since the stream of consciousness style of most rants tends to eschew grammar - try editing the grammar of, say, The Unnameable, which is maybe the ultimate in long-ass, hateful rants - but that actually isn't a run-on sentence. The clause after the comma is dependent on the first clause. That's all there is to it. It can't stand on its own. Now, I'll give you the following points: it is a long sentence. It's a stuffed sentence. There are a lot of words in there, and maybe, if I'd been so inclined, I could have said all I wanted to say more expeditiously. Hell, maybe I could have written it in a more concise and terse manner, as follows:

It makes a man feel good to know his words aren't just a collection of run-on sentences posted on an online forum whose members, like the 'I knew them when...' characters populating the underground music scene, make it a point of pride to note how early they were onboard.

There. It's still a long sentence, but I wanted to say enough to require a long one. Both aren't run-ons. If that's the most 'broo2al' run-on you've ever seen, I doubt you read much. I actually don't write many run-ons without deliberately deciding to. I write some, but so do most people. But I do write a lot of long sentences, which I sometimes pack full of words, some of them large, some of them small. Now, I see you're of an age to be out of high school and into the real world, but if you have a chance to go back to high school at some point, do me a favor and don't sleep through the English classes when they teach grammar. A run-on sentence actually has a fairly narrow definition, having to do with two or more independent clauses held together by a comma without the conjunction junctioning them, so it's not hard to check if you're actually discussing a run-on or just a long sentence carrying more weight than you might think it needs.

Now, on the subject, a lot of literature is glutted with run-ons. Much of it's reliant on them. There are sentences out there that are run-ons but have to be. They can't be any other way. And that's as true, or even more so, on a goddamned internet forum people post on for fun. Anyway, Professor Rezendes, thank you for the grammar lesson.

Now, prof: obviously we haven't met. I'm PST 88. I go off for pages at a time on the slightest provocation, as you can see. It's what I'm known for. I have to do it or I'll disappoint everybody, all six billion people in the world. It's part of an act I worked out with my partner, slayme. I'd say something long and crazy, and he'd say something very terse, twice as crazy, and thrice as profound. But I'm working solo now, so cut me some slack. I don't care if they were being serious or not. It doesn't take my caring about something for me to rant. I just thought the conversation was painfully dull and wanted them to shut up. I thought that'd be obvious by the number of times I said 'shut up.' And I got it to shut up and the conversation shifted to beer and now Akbar and whatever, and pretty soon this thread'll be closed and I'll be happy. I like the Boy George line, though.

Eddy: I don't always drink quality beer, just at meals. I can't afford the cost of imported beer considering I drink myself good and drunk more or less every night. So I drink domestic or Canadian, which is as or more available and cheap as domestic where I live. That's scotch, right? Something about Glenfiddich aged 15 years being beer is ... unholy. Like pissing on a church.

Listen, to anyone who thinks I'm permanently back: remember, I left as a mod. That means I had the power to shut people up whenever I wanted, edit people's words, close down threads, and to ban people. i could go off saying that i used this site when i first started guitar, and remember it being some kind of red box, then it wouldnt work and i forgot about it for a year or so, but does it matter? No, the only thing that really matters is the quality of your contributions, and I feel that your contributions to the Gear thread have been excelent CANNIBALCORPSE, thus im sick of all this "im better because i have 2000 posts and have been here for years" shit, the only time it is acceptable is when ripping into people who talk shit, and dont make valid contribtions to the discussion, where it can be used as a basis to demonstrate experience in the ettiquite of this forum, and (hopefully) stear the idiots away, or at least in the right direction, before they become a nuscence. I think that one of the things that makes this a relly good forum is because there are less total idiots on here, fiulling up the forum with absolute rubbish, as there are on some of the other forums, and thats partly because of this "ripping into the newbie" culture, which has aided in establishing the high level of ettiquite that we have here. So it possibly can be seen to ahve a purpose, but im sure if any of them have worthwhile things to say, then they will continue to visit the forum, and contribute, untill they get pissed off and leave because all their shit has gained them constant hasstle from other forum members, or because their shit has invoked the wrath of the mighty mods (all hail).

Conclusdion: post count/join date should only be used to show experience in forum ettiquite, as really the only thing that effects your status is the quality of your posts.

This post manages to amuse, confuse, and unnerve me all at the same time. Part of me wanted to nit-pick about run-on sentences, but I'll let it go. That same part of me wanted to argue education, considering how well read I am, but I figured that would be brutally boring, as I'm sure you'd agree. Another part of me wanted to lambast you for being a pretentious, condescending prick, but you remind me too much of myself for me to get away with that. Yet another part of me laughed out loud at various parts of your post, entertained by your humor, which is decidely witty but somehow right on the nose at the same time. That line about having a short fuse, why you must rant, and disappointing the entire planet was very good. A bit Maddox-like, but very good nonetheless.

As far as wanting to shut them up because they were boring, the only thing that makes a boring conversation worse is when some asshole chimes in about how boring it is. I don't watch Maury Povich, Judge Judy, or Friends and then mail them letters about how their shows are nothing more than runoff from a sewage culvert. I just don't watch their shows. When I see their shows on, I change the channel, end of story.
