It's just that both y = sin x and y = tan x look like a straight line for small values of x (usually up to about Pi/4 [45 degrees]). It's primarily used so as to make certain functions more easily integrable (it's hard to integrate tan x for all values since it isn't a continuous function, ie it exhibits asymptotic behaviour).

that i know...but the values are not exactly same...and the same assumption cannot be used when you go down to micro-level (like in calibration of angle-gauges and stuff)

thats why i hate the whole concept of assumptions...just assuming stuff to make other functions convenient...heck i might as well say i've assumed the value of sin 39 to be so & so...i know this is not a very valid point i'm presenting, but doing the whole thing just for convenience purposes seems a tad too asinine to me

It took me a while to stop questioning the use of assumptions but they are integral to even the most famous of theories/equations. However, assumptions like the one described earlier are just an exercise in convenience. Obviously, if an equation is of high importance, for example the equations that govern the shape of aircraft wings, such assumptions will be discarded and the full equation solved.
Actually, while we're on the subject of aviation and equations, the equations that govern the turbulence and airflow over aircraft wings remain unsolved. Experts estimate that 1% of air accidents are due to this "unpredictability". Think of that the next time you board a plane!
This maths problem forms one seventh of the Millenium Problems set by the Clay Mathematics Institute. The Institute offers a $1'000'000 prize to anybody who solves one of the seven problems. The subsequent solution (with proof) has to stand unchallenged for two years before the prize can be claimed. Recently, Andrew Wiles (a Brit!) solved Fermat's Last Theorem and is awaiting confirmation of his work.

I'd much rather spend my days playing guitar and learning every Death track I can. I hate the school I go to, and I fucking curse the day I chose to go to this hell whole.
I may talk to my rents about going back to a normal public school. I doubt it'll go over well though.

Speaking of maths I just passed the first test at my Engineering coarse. It was pretty easy shit like angles in triangles, pythagorus' theorem and how to find how much pipe you need to make certain bends. I am onto the second and final test now witch has questions like find the value of v in E = ˝mV˛ and determine the RPM for: Diameter 20mm, cutting speed 30m/min. It doesn't seem hard either so far.

When you guys were mentioning summer, and wanting to go back to school because all you had to do was jerk off and play guitar, you failed to mention friends.
I don't know about you guys, but Summer is great because you get to go places, and do fun stuff with your friends. I've lost track of how many movies we've gone to this summer, how many times we've swam in the lake, and how many times we've just walked around, going to random people-we-know's houses and hanging there.
The best nights of my life come in summer, enjoy it. I'm back tomorrow, it's depressing.
Don't get me wrong, the extended guitar practising hours do kick ass, but I seriously hope you hung out with friends most of your summer

High school sucks big. I will finish it quite soon and I will be damn happy. There is no other place that supresses free thinking as sucessfully as high school. Summer will kick ass for me. I will actually have time to get a job and earn MONEY, and time off to have FUN and see GOOD GIGS. Also, I like to use CAPITALS.

My summer holidays start at november, and finish in march, they are way too fucking long
I live in a country town, i.e. no cinema, no public transport, there is basically 2 blocks of shops and 2 parks
most of my friends have moved away now
and since it is FUCKING HOT (i.e. 43 degrees Celcuis) the sun litterally stings when you go out in it
i.e. im sorry shred, im sure you have a good time and all, but i dont care for summers

I didn't have to jerk though, good thing to have a girlfriend
ofcourse the summer is great for doing stuff with friends, I've been to germany and some festivals (lowlands too) we had a blast, most of the festivals where like 100% drunkyness + cool bands. I needed like 2 days to get back to life after that...
I went on holiday to italy with my girlfriend, Rimini was great, though its kinda weird to go on holiday without other friends, I mean, I used to go with friends, not that I didn't enjoy it but its just different then going with 'the guys'
I'm seeing a lot of folks at school again which is cool, going to play some pool and drink some pints with those guys this afternoon, if any of the utrecht dutchies is around, I'll be at the stairway and brand pool at about 4'o'clock till this evening at 10 or something.
school isn't that bad really, its a big part of your social life over here... anyways, I have to go do some new intro class now to meet some new people, I might post a bit more if I get some time to use a puter... later fucks. |

Ok well first you are not eating a cinnamon bun, you are eating margarine (sp?) rolled in cinnamon with bread there is about 1 pound of margarine per bun
