Guitarist Jack Owen has quit CANNIBAL CORPSE, according to a posting on the band's web site. "We are currently working with a replacement," the group write. "All scheduled concerts will still take place. Check back for a more detailed statement in the days to come."

Owen has spent the last few months moonlighting in ADRIFT, a new "emotive, aggro hard-rock" band also featuring ex-EPITAPH/RESURRECTION drummer Kevin Astl. The group are scheduled to perform at Masquerade in Ybor City in Florida on May 22, to be followed by a "showcase" gig at Whisky A-Go Go in West Hollywood, California on May 27.

This is bad, but I read in an interview that Alex Webster writes most of the riffs, followed by Jack, then Pat. ( http://www.lordsofmetal.nl/showinte...p?id=87&lang=nl 4th question)
Jack is cool, but his solos aren't that special, it's mostly tapping, and his solos are very similar to each other.
I'm guessing that the riffs will remain the same since Alex writes most of them, and I hope Pat steps up in the writing process. I think his solos are great, and he's more of a technical player.

If their next album is bad, it won't be so bad, 'cause their last album was pretty bad-ass, and at least they had a good run with some cool albums.

i dont particuarly like Alex's songs, they are all dul, fast and repedative, i like the songs Jack wrote the most of Gore (its the only one i own), even if his solos were shit, a good riff with a shit solo is better than the inverse

Damn. A lot of controversy here. lol. Anyways, I spoke to Jack Owens back in February at the House of Blues after the show. He didn't sound too happy at that point in time. I got the feeling then he wasen't too satiesfied with the outcome of the music or maybe the crowd..
Either way, I hope they find someone worthwhile to fill the spot.

Not just that, but Jack also has another side project as a solo Acoustic guitar player. I heard some of his stuff, its pretty good, but once I heard his acoustic songs I had a feeling he was gonna quit Cannibal Corpse. BUt I also doubted it because me, my friend Simp and Jack hung out one time after the show at the Key Club. We started bumping some songs from Vile and he's like "man, if I had my guitar, I would be jamming to this shit until the whole album has been completely played." So there may be a chance he might get back after he realizes what crappy band he has now joined.

Times change, and I just don't enjoy the music as much as I used to, and the only thing keeping me in the band was steady work, and the pay. I've done some touring in the past with a few local bands and I know what it's like to not make much money. But why does Jack leave?
It sounds to me more or less that he sold out. If it were me, I wouldn't sell out because I love what I play. I play death metal and I'll always play death metal till the day I die. Yeah, 15 years in the making, and yet it wasen't good enough for him obviously. What more can you do? Well, he chose a different path, more for money reasons. At least that's the impression I get.
I wouldn't do that for any reason though. I stick to my roots and it'll never stop me. That's all I can say for that.
Cannibal Corpse will live on.

his roots were old blues and shit, not metal...his true love most likely was never metal, he was just so good at it and loved playing metal so much he figured he do that for a while...and a while turned into 15 fucking great years.

its too bad he left, but its better to leave and go into something you want to be in rather than pretending to be happy w/where you are. He doesn't owe anyone shit either, if he wants to leave thats that, good for him. If I ever saw him anywhere, i'd give him congrats on his great career w/C.C. and hope he's happy w/where he is, rather than going into pissed off fan mode whining about why he left c.c.

To be honest, i'm not really surprised that Jack left. I could see it coming. Even as far back as the Live Cannibalism era, you could see he wasn't into the music. He'd play his part on stage, look bored as hell, stumble through the solos and walk off. I think like Father Death said, it's better he leaves and goes onto something he really likes, rather than staying and ruining it for everyone.

I'm sure CC won't have any trouble finding a new guitar player. There's probably about 3 million guitar players worldwide who have been waiting for this day.
