Deeds of Flesh live has awesome vocals but I felt on the album they didn't stand out as well as they could.

Six Feet Under kicks ass because you can actually hear a decent rhythm, the guitars are simple yes, but it fits the vibe that they are going for. Not just a bunch of interchangeable blast beat songs. Plus CB is the fucking man.

The dude from Devourment is pretty good. But Matti does a much better job.
I love the guy from Psycroptic, don't think he has been mentioned. Greeeaaaattt vocal range. Along with Mr. whats his face from Circle of Dead Children.

FATTI Way, yeah.
Matt Chalk from Psycroptic is always good, the only thing that sucks about him is the little dance he does unintentionally live.

ha ha ha
it cant be as bad as the "air boxing" that Owens does on the video clip for "The Reckoning" from the new Iced Earth album
also, one of my friends used to unintentionally do a little dance whenever he talked about females (usually about how he would follow them hime from school and leave notes in their diaries)

Anyone seen Jello Biafra sing? He acts out the lyrics.

Is NunSlaughter good? Someone told me their singer is a great deep death vocalist. If so, what song do you recommend?

brett hoffman is THE only malevolent creation vocals
listening to "eternal" is a chore, only dave culross' stellar performance can save that album
i dont think he changes pitch ONCE.
he makes me feel like im going cross eyed
brett will make an appearance on the DEATH tribute though

Favorite Death Metal Vocalist
I really like these growlers:
Rich Lipscomb - Fleshgrind
'Barney' Greenway - Napalm Death
Frank Mullen - Suffocation
Glen Benton - Deicide 1st album
and why not, that good ole 'cup the mic' Chris Barnes "Butchered at Birth" era Cannibal Corpse
Then I would agree that John Tardy of Obituary is a really good vocalist.
And if anyone heard Demilich and old Insatanity... those two bands had the deepest, sickest vocalists ever.

Yeah, I guess he's changed his vocals a little...
Anyway, I read Jack Owen (C.C.) thinks "Butchered at Birth" is his least favourite C.C. album. IMO, the first 3 albums are the best! hehe

Btw, I consider COB Heavy metal because they dont really seem death metal at all, wanna be black metal vocals, funny keyboards, no blasts, etc..

If everybody were death metal every single band would start to sound the same because of lack of ideas. It doesn't matter who fits into what and what not, every band names themselves because that is who they want to be, they don't necessarily want to fit into any category. I'm not critisizing you as a person, but all the people who seem to think that a band has to fit into 1 category and if they don't than they are posers piss me off. Its called fucking creativity. People that say "blah blah blah is a poser because they dont sound metal they are more rock and they are posers because of it." Well idiot, thats probably because they are just playing what they are best at and not selling out so that they fit into 1 particular category that is "cool."

i have to agree
cob really isnt as much death metal as they are heavy metal. if you have seen them live you understand more. alexie really does have this guitar hero thing going to so it kind of reminds me of a demented randy rhoades hehe. that whole thing sorta detracts from the death metal'ness. not to mention thier music is more of a power metal/ heavy metal style anyhow. hatebreeder could have been a badass power metal album with a hansi kirsch doing vocals.
on the other hand. i do understand your point about not grouping bands as much. i dont think it stifles creativity as much as it damages fanbases. i dont peruse the black metal section much but there are certainly some very good bands in that genre, most of which i will never hear because of the stereotype i place on that particular style.
i just heard some stuff The Legion which is pretty good. i think it combines some good elements from DM with BM and makes a pretty dark brutality ha.

Glen Benton is my fav. Been following them ever since the first Deicide. Next to him, I'd say myself. lol. Nihilist got to hear some of my vocals.
I can do vocals in the likes of Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Cancer, Napalm Death, Kataklysm, etc.
anyone interested in finding out what I sound like, tell me a time and place to meet on yahoo chat(prefer in the daytime hours), and I'll meet you there.

Angela from Arch Enemy
Not because what she does is rare for a chick,
more because she's got an awesome range and she switches between like 3-4 different styles of vocals all of which are creepy as fuck.

The Black Hand of Set - Nile (summarised)
Somebody ate our dad, we will throw rocks at him from the sky, and put black ants in his air vents. You will make me so mad that I spurt out black semen into your mouth. I will use a megaphone to tell you I'm angry, then hit the air with a hammer, while standing on snakes. I call the grim reaper to cut open his head and eat his brain like in the film Hannibal, then cut his throat and stab his chest with scorpians.
Oh Kali
Oh Sekhmet
Oh Dagon.

Jesse Leach was good at what he does but his style is nothing like death metal. He was versatile (and much better than Howard Jones) but still, he's not a death metal vocalist. Even within the metalcore genre there are better roarers and screamers than him though (Jacob Bannon and Simon Brody to name but two).

In what way am I wrong?
Jesse Leach is NOT a death metal vocalist. You even mentioned this yourself. He shouldn't even have been mentioned in this thread - go start a "best metalcore vocalist" if you want to talk about him.
Have you ever heard Jacob Bannon or Simon Brody scream? Do you even know who they are?

Yeah, his versatility is amazing - especially on songs like Leviathan and Son of the Morning. He's definitely one of my favourite vocalists.

r u kidding?
i kinda skipped pages 5-7 but i am appaled that none of u have mentioned
Dead - the ex-lead singer of Mayhem. Definately one of the best voices i have ever heard. if we were talking about currently alive vocalists then dead would not qualify. and HELLO!!! have none of your guys heard of a band called JUDAS fucking PRIEST!!!!!!! Rob Halford has possibly the best voice of any vocalist known on this planet. also alexi laiho of COB but his focus is more on guitar and his insane solos.

if youre gonna nominate a powermetal band i would have thought dickinson

ok ok
ok ok so rob halford was not death metal i should be shot for sayin that but that aside, Dead from mayhem is definately a death metal voice no question that cant be wrong.
rob halford definately was not strained at all and he could hit a high c or sumthin! and he was one of the first bands to introduce metal into our world and death metal bands, almost all of them, have rob halford / judas priest as a dedication...

Black and Death metal are two different genres. Dead is most definatly black and Alexi is more thrashy black than anything. Listen to some David Vincent or Chris Barnes and then you'll know death metal.

I was wondering if you've heard Neuropathia. I resently discoverd them I believe they have one of the best death metal vocalist around, he sounds so damn demonic and I don't think its effects. You hear them here

PArricide got some sick vocals, they have parts when 5 different growls and 3 different screams come out in the same time and sounds so fucking sick, kind of like Exhumed's Slaughtercult but much better. I wish they had a wesbite.

Cannibal Corpse and Monstrosity. When he was with Monstrosity (and also on his first album with Cannibal Corspe) his vox were just generic, average, DM vox, as most DM vox tend to be. Now, he has far more of a range than you could ever expect from any other DM vocalist. Just my opinion. Besides, all the bands he has been in rule ass.

man, George = overrated.
There are so many better vocalist out there with more guttural sounds, range, high pitched screams, and so far no one can beat the guys from Cryptopsy during None So Vile and Blasphemy Made Flesh, the vocals are evil, yet the growls from BMF are more unique than NSV, and the screams give u fucking nightmares.

Bahaha no way. One of my problems with Kataklysm is the vocals. Lord Worm is awesome, and like Bones said; his screams fucking rule. I can't wait to hear what he sounds like now.
