At what speed can you do DB?
Hi all.
I was just wondering - at what speed (BPM) can you do a doublekick for some time?
(while doing some regular snare hi-hat stuff on top)
Like for one metronome beat - 2 kicks (LF en RF).
Who bids highest?

lol...
Just put it in front of you, on your snare even, and just look at it while you doublekick then
Or get some silent / flat / electronic drum, or hang a bunch of towels on your DB to make it more silent...

I tried drumming once...I couldn't get a steady beat. But is was easy as hell to do most ac/dc and zztop songs, like Back in Black.
But if I really worked on it, I'm sure I could do....oh say 16th notes at...100.

get a metronome with a headphone jack, get bigass headphones that cover your ears, and put on a beanie hat over the headphones while you're playing. works for me.
and as for how fast i can go id say about 225 on an average day, about 245 on a great day at 16th notes

lol! I also can't keep a steady double bass beat. I can't even do double bass when I'm doing blast beats. I also tried to learn the snare roll from Devourment's
Festering Vomitous Mass, but I failed.

its very hard to sustain your topspeed for a minute, therefor it would be better if you gave it your best for 15 seconds, and multiply the count with four

hm i can go 205 bpm 16th double bass in a clean and smoth way for about 35-40 seconds
this may sound slow compared to the 240 and 325 bpm guy but its fast enough to sound like a machnine gun
actually its 820 bpm
my top speed which i could hold for about 7 seconds is around 212 bpm 16th.
I do double bass druming now for about 3 years and i am practicing a lot.
To this guy who said his drummer does 16th at 325bpm.
Lol
thats about 1300 bpm ; absolut world record is 1400 bpm so either you are lying or joking or have no idea what you are talking about.
or your drummer is really fast as hell
240 bpm is very fast and 260 bpm is hell a fast.
But the true thing about that is that everything 16th above 210 speed
is totally useless cause nobody would be able to hear a difference except your base drum is triggert that it sounds like a computer click which totally sucks.
just watch the 1407 bpm world record video it sounds like someone is playing
16th at 100bpm cause its so damn fast that you cant hear the strokes.
to the guy who said his drummer can do 500bpm.
500 bpm = 16th at 125 bpm yes i think everybody including total beginners could do that cause that is really slow .

I can't belive how bad some of you faggets lie...it's astounding.
And for the record triggers don't always sound like a computer click...it just depends on how the drummer wants their kit to sound...my shit is all triggered and it doesn't sound like it at all.

@ Bose , i think in this thread is only one person with toally unrealistic
double bass speed and thats the 325bpm 16th guy.
240bpm is possible for a good drummer who plays double bass for many years
( 6years +) ,practices double bass every day
and has some talent.
considering the world record is 352 bpm 16th
why should a good talented metal drummer who is playing for many years not be able to reach 240 bpm 16th ???
i was able to reach 190bpm 16th after 1 year of practice
now i play 3,6 years and i am able to play 205 bpm 16th without problems.
(212bpm 16th for a few seconds)
why should someone with more talent than me and many years of hard practice not be able to reach 240bpm.
Ok ist hell a fast but its possible.
to the trigger thing i know what a trigger is you dont have to explain that to me
its just that you would not hear a difference between 215 bpm 16th and 230bpm 16th when you not trigger your basedrums an extrem way thats sounds crappy.
when you are always talking about Pete Sandoval what is his double bass speed ? I am sure he could reach more than 240 bpm 16th when some mad jazz guy has a 352bpm 16th world record.
so nobody here says he is faster than pete

I suck at double pedals. I dunno how many Bpm, but If it was to compare to anything, it would be as fast as Mudvayne's drummer, maybe faster. The difficult part for me is sustaining it. It's hard for me. Then there's keeping the beat with the drums and I still have a hard time.

you are foolish if you do not appreciate the importance of knowledge.
it is not shit, but it is very important and to turn a blind eye to it is the same as cutting off your toes because you never really use them.

I don't need to know half the shit that I'm taught! Just have me study the constitution test! Stop teaching me this different types of propeganda shit that I'm never gonna use! Knowing the pathagorean (Spelling?) theorem won't put food on my plate.
anyways back on to this.
Lambofgod, that's what I do. and it does seem effective for me. I tried doing that today but I couldn't.... I think it's because today's "God's day." I hate sundays!

Mr NuMetal:
saying that pythagorus' theorom won't help you put food on the plate is quite simply dumb, surveying, architecture and engineering all use this basic formula of a2+b2=c2 quite regulaly
oh and last time I checked all 3 of those jobs weren't exactly underpaid either.
maybe you should listen in school, you don't know what you might learn or more importantly when you might need to know it.

.....God damnit your right..... I HATE BEING WRONG!!!! FUCK!
Also Innards-Decay, I'm not mormon. I'm more like a blastphomous Luthran.
..... OHH! I just got why you called me mormon. I refer to sunday as god's day because almost everyone in my neighborhood goes to church, and It basically becomes increasingly boring during the day,

I hate my band's gutarist! I'm struggling trying to play the double pedal well, and he just gets on my drum set and goes crazy on it like he's nicholas Banter. GAH! He can't keep a beat with it, but my god it was fast! and this is the guitarist!! Has this world gone to hell?

The world hasnt gone anywhere, you just suck...keep playing dig everyday, you'll get faster...ive been playing like anything on my double pedal since i got it a year ago, and im pretty good. Back in the day i would play dig by mudvayne slow and try to play slipknots wait and bleed and i sucked. i kept doing them slow and now i can play them so easily..

Well, I'm just learning, and I'm going out to buy a metronome tomorow, and I want to do it single foot (not "cheat blast" but proper blasts with one foot) someday, so yeah. Learnies learnies for me. It always worries me that my playing might not be even, it's not necesarilly about speed, people forget about the control and endurance involved.

I don't know how fast by BPM, but I play along with songs. It also usually depends on my day.
On good days, I can play pretty well along with Dimmu Borgir.
On bad days, the best I can do is play along with In Flames.

Fuck you, no one wants to go to work to find a link for you while your fat ass sits in the chair and waits. Even if someone knows where to find the video, they fucking found it themselves or got it from someone who found it themselve and so on....ya, i saw the video a few weeks ago but i forgot where it was. It sounds like shit though because the guy is playing so fast it looks like and sounds like nothing. Anyways, i used my metronome yesterday to see how fast i was. I played 16th notes at 160 without any problems but i didnt try any higher. I guess thats an alright speed for only playing a double pedal for a year and a half. And actually, i could only play about 130 or so last august so i progressed alot since then. It sucks knowing that Pete Sandoval can play over double that speed though.

I can play every Morbid Angel song without problems double timed...so Pete have to be bad.
I play for 3 years.
And I have the biggest dick in the world.
And My drumset is so fucking huge that i have to use a office chair with wheels because I have to roll to the last 6 toms.
And I dont think that a metronome would be necessary for me, im good enough although.
Btw. my whole band pushes about 260bps...so you all must be loosers.
Any question about my ultimate perfectly drumtechique?

for anyone who is in here because they are curious about double bass. one word, practice!!! I suck ass at double bass (and its very sad because i just joined a hardcore band) and its because i never touched a double pedal in my 10 years of playing.. The one reason the fastest double bass in the world doesn't impress a lot of us drummers is because its something that isnt talent, just hard work! Practice everyday doing not only singles, but paradiddles (rLrrLrLL) and broken up double bass and you'll get even faster.. It also helps to buy a very good pedal so that over time you won't be faster than your pedal. Pearl Eliminators, Tama Iron Cobra, Dw 5000 or Axis would be the best choices IMO..
and for the record, berzerker > all

Yeah and thats my "problem".
I play 2 Cobra juniors and at home a sonor "starter"-DP.
It´s okay, and on good days I play something about 220...but not really clearly...but I´m too poor to buy me a new pedal.
But I´m working on it, I hate it to stuck at 170(different technique but tight).
As outonbail said, I´m not really impressed if somebody can play 300bps.except he could do something like music with that. (Hellhammer!!! and I really wait for the new Nile album with kollias!!)
So I dont give a shit about WFD or stuff like that, because its boring.
(I do respect those drummers, because they work hard for that, and I only can dream about those speeds)

If you do get new pedals, you will gain alot more speed. I used to have the iron cobra juniors and when i got my iron cobras, i was playing alot faster easier. I think its because of all the adjustments you can make on it to make it suit you.

tim plays double strokes...!!!
pete and hellhammer not.
And what the hell do I get if I can play faster than anybody else if it sounds like shit?
Pete is really really tight on his instrument, I´m shure he could push more than 300bps...but is it necessary when Morbid Angel songs are only 235bps fast?
I dont really understand this "hes faster, hes faster" "discussion".
I´m fascinated about carter beauford...just for being a real good drummer...but is he fast?

Opening of the gates is 150bps fast...that means he play 32ths at 150 or 16 at 300...
He´s one of the tightest drummers who can push up to these tempos.
