I didnt think you could have a fretboard binding with a (partially in this case) scalloped neck.

i think that the binding just sort of goes over the scallopped part? it doesn't defeat the purpose of the scalloping, it just kind of puts a little wall on each end, haha.

It would just require a little extra work to make it work is all. I like the guitar but there are some cosmetic things that I think make it seen tacky to me.

Put a nuke on it with a radioactive hazard symbol at the 12th fret and I think it would really be cool. Then it would be a real WMD

What is exactly the point of scalloping your neck? Am I missing some secret of playing guitar?

Why? You just bind the neck, then scallop it.
And the point of scalloping your neck it make bends easier, listen to Yngwie.
Jumbo frets do a good job of giving you a "Scalloped" fell

Got it.
I was just looking at Warmoth.com a couple weeks ago and I was thinking about a binded scalloped and thought to myself that that must be impossible or something. Guess not. Only, I'd bet Warmoth would charge a lot extra for it, because they like to do that.

fuck yea check this fuckin email out, im so happy right now!!
Hi Coury,
Your guitar is almost ready to dispatch, I have changed the input jack
location /in the upper wing/, so I needed a bit more time.
I`ll send the RR this week /Friday/ or next /Monday/.
Sorry, for that delay.
Best regards,
Dariusz Kuczynski.
im glad i got the second RR, cause after he did the first one he probably relized the upper wing is much better to put the jack on. I was gonna ask him to put it on the upper wing but i figured it was to late so i just said fuck it, but he fuckin did it anyways!!!

Man I can't wait to get my RR custom now, i'll be having the upper horn input aswell, i sent dariusz a pic of a DV8 to show him what I wanted, it makes the guitar easy to play when sitting then.
Allthough RR's are ok then the jacks in the lower horn aswell.
I'll probably make the deposit soon enough

Can anyone reccomend a good bank to transfer my money into big D's account?
I'm trying to find one but not having much luck?
I'm in the UK, so a euro based one would mot liekely be best?

doesn't your own bank do that stuff? I use the Rabobank, it's Dutch and they have a triple-A rating, I got my money over to D's account within two days!

Ozz,
I went into barclays where my account is, filled out a small from, they do it all for you, take the money from your account, turn it into euros and put it in Ran's account. Cost about £25 and took 2-4 days. You can do the same with whatever branch you are in.

lol, dariuzs just emailed me some pics, there ok, but I feel I wont release them till I take better and more detailed pics. I talked to my guitar teacher today and he said once I get it I shouldnt open the package for 24 hours cause since it was shipped over seas and during winter, I need to give the guitar time to acclimate, or else the paint job might crack. He said people ussually do that with vintage guitars, but hell i might just let it warm up in side for an hour or so before i open it, then ill take pics and release the ones dariuzs gave me to.

I paid £838 ($1,556) for my Ran, Dariusz said he's still working on the woods for my guitar. He doesn't charge for custom bodies either!

Well RanSpain is just an extension of Big D's will, so anything you send to them will be sent to Dariusz.
If you're interested in a custom, contact Dariusz directly.

On the subject of Ran's, are people getting body/neck/headstock binding? I personally am not getting any binding. Binding on the neck makes it feel slow and it looks cheap aswell.

I like binding, got it on my rg too. doesn't look cheap if its well done. depends on the guitar too if you ask me. ah well, everybody's got different tastes
my Ran will defenetly look P.I.M.P. with all that bling bling hanging on it!

i didn't insult the great ran, i just jynxed the duth man. Myself I have had a great let down in guitar shippments. DAMN YOU US POSTAL SERVICE!!! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!
But DEF ask the guy to protect the fret board while being shipped (I dont know how he ships them), just the case alone wont give it that 100% anti fuck up protection...

well what happend to my dime was:
on the 12th fret there is a indent from a string being pressed on it, and when I got it i was pissed but only 1 note gives a buzz, so a few days later i took it to the guitar place here and they said i would need a new fret job just for the one, i asked if a simple "take a little off the top" of the fret would do he said no, and he was not joking. you see in the shipment the postal service stacked shit on it, and at the 12th fret there was presure that drove the G sting into it and left a good indent of a .09 gague string there.
now if that happend to you, then i bet you would send that mother fucker back and would have to wait another 6-8 months.

ah, I see, that sucks man, what kinda case was it shipped in?? the case I have for my rg can't be bend in, not even a little so if it comes in a case like that, it's pretty safe.
I know what you mean with small dents and shit in the fretboard, it sucks. I'll have to get my RG refretted too within a year/two years, simply because 15 years of playing took its toll on the frets..

He said people ussually do that with vintage guitars, but hell i might just let it warm up in side for an hour or so before i open it, then ill take pics and release the ones dariuzs gave me to.

A day?? no... Bring it inside, let it sit for a good 45 minutes then remove it from its case.

You just need to replace the 12th fret and level it down to match the others.
Your dime was purchused on ebay and packed by billy bob and sent by shitty mail... rans are the exact opposite.

Also i have a little question, now that 4 months has gone by and my tone preferances haave changed, i now regret getting 1 pup, and it was an emg 81, I am wondering if there is a way to go route a neck pup position in and a 2 or 3 way switch in and route it so i could wire up a JB and Jazz in there, im bet a good lutherie would do it, but there might be one problem, i know dariusz screws the pups straight into the body so im thinkin an 81 might be a differant height than a JB. So pretty much when i get my ran i want to add a neck pup and make everything passive and put in a switch.... is it possible, any recomendations?

Yeah it shouldnt be too difficult, what about putt another emg like an 89, I rarely use the neck pickup, but it's handy to have if you need it, you can always wire it up like a 1H anyways.
Thanks for the info about leaving the guitar bls, thats really handy.
Email big D about the pickups, amn my RR is gonna be sweet as anything.

i dont want another emg, i wanna replace them with passive and put a switch in there, and my guitar is already shipped out so D cant do anything with it, im gonna have to find a local lutherie to do it. it sucks cause the paintjob is already done and wha tnot, i dunno if i can route another pickup in there if the paint is already on there.
