Cool! I'm thinking of something similar but not a blue whale!
A burst with a half-transparent motive that gradually disappears toward the edges...

Well I've been reading a lot of good things about Ran guitars. Bad thing is, I don't have a lot of cash to go all out with a new guitar. So could I just send you my current guitar to get a new neck and tremolo on it and maybe a paintjob? This is what my guitar looks like. http://img92.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img9...=blueds29ro.jpg Thanks.

TBH you probably won't get that done cheaply, it'll be cheaper to just get a basic guitar made by Ran, you'll have to contact them directly via email.

I don't have that much money to get a whole new guitar, I only have around $400 or something. Even less since I got a new amp. I just want to know if they could customize my current guitar.

I've decided to go ahead and shell out the 1,000$ needed to get a Standard model, seeing as how it will be money well spent ... except I want the tune-o-matic bridge setup. Hopefully that might bring the price down.

It most likely will, what std do you wan't, I know that it'll be simple changes to make for a bolt on/all access joint or set neck.
But as the neck neds to be angled for the TOM/stop tail, it makes it more difficult for neck throughs as a thicker bit of wood is needed, to include the neck angle.
I've nearlygot enough to put down the deposit now, I just need to sell my KVX10, as I don't use it and it's pbeen played about two hours max, it just collects dust now
But my custom RR is gonna be so cool.

One of the custom shop options is a brass nut ... I'm assuming that would just give it more sustain. Any cons to it?

Malmsteen is a big fan of the brass nut as it gives improved sustain as metal-metal gives better sustain the metal bridge to plastic/natural non metal nut.
What shape you going for?

thats gonna be fuckin badass, i regret not gettin the input jack on the upper horn, im eventually going to get another custom, i might get an invader, or just another RR, and it will have the upper horn input jack and a string thru style instead of a floyd. Thats my second dream.

Sounds good philkilla666,
My Invader should be ready in April.
I was thinking of my next one already and was thinking my take off of a ESP KH3 (les paul with floyd) and Darisuz said that they can't do a les paul shape (well atleast a carved top LP) Just a heads up incase anyone wanted one, also I asked if I could get some pics of the building process and he said no.... sucks but it will make the finished product better.

Hey guys, I just asked dariusz about my action settings on my ran....and this is what he told me:
Usually, we adjust action to 1,1 mm /e1/ and 1,7 mm /E6/ at 12th fret.
Is that action low for you?
does he mean 11 Millimeters? I really don't know how low that is....I just know my Ibanez is low....someone help me out here.

no, he means 1.1 at the 1st fret and 1,7mm at the 12th, I think? that is really low action. I don't know, I really like low action, I think my RG has about the same measurements and it plays like running a hot knife thru butter

Actually I think he means 1,1 at 12 fret on the bass E or low E, and 1,7 mm on the treble E on the 12th.
I'll probably be getting mine set up for 1.5 both sides, allthough im probably going to be more than happy with the standard set up.

He means 1,1 mm at 12th fret, HIGH E, and 1,7 at 12th fret LOW E.
And yes that is quite low but not the lowest.

I told him to make it as low as possible, just as long as it doesn't buzz. With a seven string though, that can be a problem sometimes....but then again I've never played a custom made seven string. I think it will be the shit no-matter what.

I thought I would post the neck specs that Darisuz uses as standard:
- thickness at 1st fret - 19 mm
- thickness at 12th fret - 21 mm
- radius - 15''
- width at nut - 43 mm
- width at 24th fret - 57 mm
However for my Invader it will be nice and thick as I am a rhythm player at heard and enjoy the comfort, my Ran neck will be something simular to a Les Paul '59....hopefully.

Maybe? It seems that I was the first American custom order and my shipping was a little cheaper. I think because I was a test shipping subject to the US.

No headstock binding will save you some money if you get binding at all. Other than that a fixed bridge will save a little more, but don't skimp on anything else. Get the best features offered. For the price Ran charges you can afford it anyway.

I think Ran's are great guitars, and they are especially great deals for europeans, not so much for the USA and Canada.
Don't forget if you do order a custom V, get the jack in the upper wing, a strat one so the jack plug rest over your leg when or if you sit, it makes life easier when playing standing aswell.
I can't wait to get the money for the depoist and get dariusz started.

Heh my teacher is a lefty playing righty but that argument backfires onus righty's who techniclaly should be playing lefty.
Some people can play righty as lefty's others can't.
Yeah sucks the waiting time's gone up a month but it's still a quality custom shop axe, still miles ahead of ESP's cs jacksons cs and bcr's cs waiting time, and the cost is a third or more less than a usa/japan custom shop axe.
Ozz Ran's rule!!!

Alexi Wen't to ESP after Jackson messed him around, but he may still play some of Roope's guitars.
Hopefully i'll have enough money soon to put down the deposit for my custom, I have £250 in the bank atm will get another 200 so that'll be enough to make the deposit I should think, then if I Sell my KVX10, I should have the rest for the final payments, I dont mind paying a little extra to get it with a few payments instead of one.

Yea roope has a custom RR with white pinstripes that jackson made, alexi used to use it a lot during live shows, before he switched to ESP, then he got 2 customs from a white guitar with white pinstripes, a black with yellow, and just recently on his last tour he played a black esp RR with white pinstripes, but the paintjob on that was a little bit differant than roopes. I was inspired to get that paintjob on my guitar cause if you watch passage to the reaper with alexi and roope doing lessons, roope plays that black one, i thought it was the sexiest thing ever.

phff fuck you damn bloody english people, the US$ is like a piece of shit compared to the euro, i had to end up paying $1800 for a guitar that was originally priced at 1180 euros, When the euro first came out the US$ was stronger, but yea, then bush and 9/11 and all that shit.

I know what you mean. I remember 2 years ago the conversion was $0.98=Euro1.00. Now it is all shot to hell again. Great for Europe but bad for US buyers. Soon the US will be there with the Paso

ask big D, he probably knows. I don't know, I might be the first dutch owner too, there's only a belgium owner and a german owner that I know of close to here. I'll ask D next time.
also, I've added some things to my guitar, as in custom options, my guitar will probably be here halfway march/early april instead of early march.

That's because I love Vs Next one I get will look like a Moser V. That's going to cost but not as much as Moser would charge me. Even with a another Kahler bridge.

Moser's look great, one of the guitarists from Vader (that skinny black haired one) said he's signed a contract with moser and won't be playing Ran's from now on.

Hey guys, ive been jonesing for custom again, and i was wondering. Which is better, a floyd, a Stop bar bridge, or a tunomatic. Im thinking of going for a stop bar bridge with schaller locking tuners.

depends on what you do man.
the tune-o-matic is the Les Paul style bridge and for a fixed bridge, this is superior.
but if you don't want a fixed bridge, either and OFR or kahler depending on what you like better. I'm more of a floyd guy.

Well, both my guitars now are stop tail, and i like em, but i dont do much solo-y stuff, ive been getting more into it, and i want to make more coherent solos, not just sensless whammy dives. but i also like the feel of blocked trem or stop bar. The body shape id be getting is the vigier marylin standard, or a BC rich stealth.
