Ok, could you alter the following options:
Fingerboard Inlays: Mother of Pearl Crosses - Like on
Tony Iommi's SG's - Heres a photograph of how I want
them:
http://www.jaydeeguitars.com/images...-sg/full-sg.jpg
Ran Logo - Could the Ran logo on the headstock be
in-line with the tuners (horizontally) and could the
font be in old english? Could you also put your
signature underneath the Ran logo?
Neck: Are your necks thinner than the Ibanez Wizard I
Neck? If they are not can you put on a neck with the
same dimensions as the Wizard I.
Routing - No electronics please, but routed to the
specifications above.
Phew!
Regards
Edit: WOW thats an amazing website boesefloe! I especially like the "Rans on stage" section, is that you with the dragon explorer?

that's his dragon, yes! nice engl savage 60 too, I might add. I just bought a powerball to boost my collection... now I just need the ran
Dariusz won't put his autograph on the guitar, or name, because he keeps it for a new project (Enigma) so that part won't go. I have some other touches to my guitar too, but they'll remain secret untill I get the pics...

nice, that engl powerball looks to be pretty sweet. i'm getting a blue voodoo next week to fill the gap in my heart for not having a Ran yet

yeah, the powerball is awesome, plus it looks great next to my savage
I wonder what the 'Enigma' project will be like. I heard Dariusz is upgrading all stock models though (and raising those prices?)

Oh great :-) How is the Powerball sounding?
I like the distortion of the savage 60 very much... so how is the distortion of the powerball? I heard it is very noisy on high gains??
Please Submit Rans on http://ranguitars.floriandecher.de !!!

He could raise em... but his custom shop is probably the main puller of cash for him because it seems hes gotten like 6 orders from metaltabs alone.

Nah its not noisy, my savage 60 was way more noisy!! (the powerball even has a build in noise-gate on the back if you do have trouble with noise!!)
the distortion is even more brutal then the savage IMO and the amp itself is a LOT louder. the separate volumes, eq's and switching are really nice, thats what the savage misses. BUT, don't get rid of the savage 60, never! they're starting to become really rare and they're awesome amps for the money...

I've got a Powerball too and absolutley love it!
Blizzard beast, I noticed that on your custom form for neck finish you have put satin. That means that the neck finish will be the wood with a clear satin finish over it. You will need to select 'match body finish' for it to be satin black. Just thought I'd let you know incase....

Yes indeed. Great site. I seen some pics of my Ran there too I have some pics of other Rans that I think I might have posted here before, but I will send them to you soon just in case you don't have them yet.
Great job though Perhaps a pic of Dariusz himself would be cool too. I've always wondered what he looks like.

yeah i'm not sure wether the red bevels would suit it! (i was looking at the Signature Vader InVader). I'm thinking to lose the bevels, and for the maple top have it see through deep deep purple

I'm in the UK, and just sent the first half of my payment for my Ran today. Total is 980 Euros inc Hardcase and Shipping which is about Ł650 which is a fucking bargin!
Final spec is:
Left Handed Invader
Alder Body
Maple Neck
All Acess Neck Joint (don't really need a set neck and didn't want to make it too bright with a maple neck through)
Reverse ESP Style Headstock
Snow White with Black Bevels
No 'board or headstock binding (this beast is going to be WHITE apart from the hardware and bevels)
Ebony Board with no inlanys
Floyd
EMG 81/60 (no pick up rings)
1 Volume and a 3 Way Toggle.
Black Hardware.
It is going to be soooo hot.
In fear of Ran raising their prices either as soon as Darisuz finishes this guitar or even before I will be ordering a Left Handed Explorer (set neck and a neck through seven string which will probably be an ESP MII/Jackson Soloist shape.
Ran guitars is a dream come true for a lefty metal head in the UK!

OK. You have lots of questions and I have the answers, but some of them are going to take a little explaining. I will go first to last.
About the tuning machines. Schaller M6 are just regular everyday guitar tunes, but very well made tuners. They are used on most guitars and are used mostly on guitatrs that have Floyd locking nuts. Locking Shaller tuners are tuners that have a device that locks each individual tuner to better hold the guitars tuning if you don't have a locking nut. Locking tuners are mostly used on guitars that have non-trem bridges and no locking nut. The locking tuner is just for added tuning stablity if you don't have a locking nut. Some people desire not to have a nocking nut on their guitars with a non-trem bridge so Locking tuners give them extra tuning stalbity.
Neck finish is the finish on the back of the guitar neck behind the fret board. You can get the neck painted how every you want. Some people like to get necks painted a different finish or color then the rest of the guitar because it feels better or faster for them. Like having a guitar body with a glossy finish, but a neck with a satin or natural finish. Having the neck finish match the body finish means that the neck will be painted the same finish and color as the body.
Fret size is different for everyone. It all depends on what you like, but there there are some examples. B.C. Rich, Jackson, ESP mostly use jumbo sized frets. I like jumbo frets but some people perfer smaller frets for many reasons that I'm not going to talk about right now. If you don't know what you like then get jumbo if you are use to B.C. Rich, Jackson, ESP sized frets. If you like to use Fender guitars then get medium or small frets.
As for the 25.5" scale of the guitar? That is used on many guitars today and is the standard for most. Gibson guitars use a 24.75" scale on most of their guitars. The difference is the distance from the nut to the bridge and the spacing between the frets. It all depends on what you like but I use 25.5" scale, but I don't really notice a difference between that and 24.75 until I play above the 12th fret. I have a slightly greater amount of room on the 25.5" scale.
The nut. The nut is the part of the guitar where the neck becomes the headstock and the strings rest on it. This is where a Floyd locking nut would be placed to lock the strings down if you desire it. There are a few different standard sizes in nut width for guitar and yes, 1 5/8" is the smallest, then 1 11/16" being wider, and 1 3/4" being the widest for standard 6 string guitars. Fenders normally use 1 5/8" while most Gibson, B.C. Rich, Jackson, ESP use 1 11/16".
Bevels and binding. The black guitar with the red edges you seen on the Ran website only has painted bevels... no binding. Binding is normally a type of a thin plasic strip that trems the 90* corner edges of the wood on the body, and/or neck, and/or the headstock. It can come in many colors and materials and is used mosty to just make the guitars edges look better.
If you have more questions about this or anything please ask

I have a couple of questions about the Ran custom guitars:
1. On the fingerboard inlays, do they use mother of pearl?
2. What is the difference in the nuts? (locking, graphite, bone...)
3. They have a Schaller Floyd Rose, how does that compare to the Original Floyd Rose?
4. If you were to order like a Jackson RR style, can they put a pick guard on it?
5. Can they put pickup covers on?

1.Soul will answer this, i dont think they use MOP but
2.Locking is for trems ussually and locks the strings down so it doesnt go out of tune. Bone and graphite is just the color/material.
3.Ive heard Schallers Floyds are the best liscensed floyds out there, ive heard there pretty damn close to the same thing.
4.Im sure they can do anything you want them to do, sometimes you will have to send them the pickgaurd if they dont have it, like soul sent them the kahler bridge.
5.^^

First of all, thank you, know i,ve got it "clear". but i´ve got another question, now i know that bevels are what i want, but i want a binding too (in the headstock and in the neck), but i want binding in the body too( because it seems like the body is "harder" or something, So, if i put the bevels with the binding will it be like i,ve got two bindings???. I don´t know if you understand. Has the guitar body colour has two "cuts"(one of the bevel and another one of the binding) ??
I tried to explain it but with my crap english and without beeing in frot of you its very difficult.
Tahnk you if you try to understand this. Heheheh
Thank you
VI.VI.VI.
P.D: If you know where are photos of custom guitars. To have some ideas, you know. and if they are for inlays better than better. Thank

Well, it is, but it's not done very often (I've never seen it). You'd just need to add a rather thick strip of binding and then cut the bevel in the binding material, instead of in the actual wood.

exactly. even the ashes from a dead rat if you send them to big D.
you can bind non-straight edges too, basically, my stagemaster body has some non linear edges in it too (the cutaways move upwards because its a carved top)
depends on the angle how it looks I guess.

The arm rest on my Ibanez has a binding so it should be too much of a problem either I think.

Yeah, more questions...
What is an "All acess neck joint"? It looks just like a bolt-on. And after seeing many pics of Ran guitars, I've noticed that on the Neck-Thru ones, the neck is really thick and fat near the bottom. Or is it just the pics? Cuz it looks pretty uncomfortable to play on the high frets.

I have a question about the necks, how thick are they? Right now im playing on an Ibanez RG and very often a Jackson warrior, how thick is it in comparison to those guitars, or any guitar really.

Hi guys I came accross Ran guitars about two years ago, and have been saving my money, well not brilliantly, but I am hopefully going to get a part time job to save for an ENGL Powerball Head and cab, and a Ran Custom RR
I have made a cool mockup on the JCF custom shop generator.
http://server2.uploadit.org/files/ozzuk1-RRCustom1.JPG
It may look better with black bevels,a nd some sort of graphic on the upper wing/horn to make it look less bare, maybe a large Iron Cross?
And hello to everybody this is my first post yay!

I think he meant that it is really cool to be able to make Rawk guitars ona generator other than a jem, RG, or Soloist.
I can't wait to get a Ran Custom.

nice one boesefloe! I'm posting pics straight to you when I get my custom Ran April 25-30. I just watched the studio dvd from the beast (vader album) - the're crazy about Ran's. Peter said that has 5 custom Rans, and he showed his other Invader (plain black one) - he said they are beatiful guitars, and Darek is brilliant - he's from their home town. The other guitarist (Mauser) had a plain black Thunder shaped Ran, but he said he's signing a contract with Moyanes soon and he'll be using their gutars soon

I have a question. What is a flamed maple top? Quilted maple top? And how good are those Schaller tremlos that they use on their guitars?
Thanks

you can get another neck if you want too, but if ou want to use really heavy strings, I don't know man, you'de have to ask for a custom nut and all that stuff too, or get it as a baritone?
Nice pics quality boesefloe!!!!

Plenty of people us Ibanez and Jacksons with the same thickness necks or thinner, and their's dont break, you would need to adjsut it though bridge nut truss rod, it's more arkward with a Floyd as you need to file the string holder to accomodate the larger strings.
To the person who asked about flame maple tops, these are pieces of maple witha stripped or flame pattern on them generaly use on guitar tops, many prs's use them, and other manufacturers check http://ranguitars.floriandecher.de/dariusz/17.JPG
Quilted tops are more bubble like in their appearance and can look like water rippling, I hope you can understand what I mean by that.
That is a Flame top, the Schaller Floyds are made in the same factory as the original the only difference is the sustain block, and the shorter length of the string lock screws under the fine tuners.
Jackson used the Schaller Floyds on their gutiars for a few years.

Hi Guys
Been lurking (drooling more like) on this thread for a while now.
Just wanted to say Hi and ask if anyone knows if Ran keeps stocks of their standard models (I want an Xplorer) ready to ship or if you have to wait till they build them? Don't really want to wait 4 months or so as I need a replacement guitar now
I'll mail Dariusz but just wondered if anyone knew offhand.

I don't know, maybe he does, I know they have a way shorter build time then the customs though, thats all I can tell you... so you'de probably have to mail Big D.
maybe Soul knows.

Hey Def
Yeah, I'll be mailing. All I'd like different from stock would be jumbo frets instead of the mediums and maybe a 22 fret neck. Hopefully, being a bolt on it wouldn't take months just to slap a new neck on there

What I'm wondering how much less a Ran standard guitar might cost with a natural finish and Seymour Duncan humbuckers, and a tune-o-matic bridge setup. Possibly, it could knock 2-300 dollars off the price. Or I could ask the manufacturer to omit humbuckers all together, and just leave the spaces, and I could install a pair I already have myself, saving some more money. I'm not sure how they feel about that, however, because it would be obvious I just want a Ran for cheap

but if you're doing this, you might as well go all out man, think of the shit you have to do to get it sent and the built time, everything. I just went all out with mine and it does cost a buck, but I'm sure it'll be worth every penny!

Geez.... Why didn't I hear of this company before? I just bought a Schecter C1+ which is being shipped to me next week.
I'd gladly pay $1500 to get a custom made axe made after my own specifications!!
But what the hell, I could always buy one anyway. I'm always on the look for great deals on guitars but this is insane, even if it's only half as good as you all claim?
It takes a month to read through the posts, so I hope I'm not pissing someone of if I'm accidently asking questions which has been answered before, I've tried to read most of them.
1. I can't find very much pics on their website? There are no pics of body and head-shapes, nor any info on neck specifications. Have I missed something? There are only finished guitars, but I guess they'll do anything I want?
2. Do you know the approximate extra-cost if I'd want a custom body shape compared to one of their standard ones? Same goes for the head...
3. I think I read somewhere that their thinnest neck is 18 mm at 1st fret? Is that correct, and can I get such a neck on a neck-thru?
4. Are you guys happy with the string-action? I like it real low, without any buzz. But you know, it takes real quality in a guitar to be able to get away with that...
5. Do they make carved bodies? I haven't seeen any in any pic? I'd like a body which is slightly thinner at the edges and thicker in the center. Wonder how much extra that would be?
Now, I live in Sweden so I won't have any problems with customs, and the shipping should be fairly cheap and fast...
I'm surprised reading about Soul's problem with customs in US. Is that really standard procedure of them to keep stuff?
I've had to pay customsfee and taxes when I ordered from abroad before, but here they open the package, checks what's inside, and ship it on the same day. Then if I have to pay extra I'll have to do it when it arrives to me, or else the shipping company won't hand me the stuff...

another body isn't that much extra, my Ran has a Kramer Stagemaster body, which has a carved top. (it'll be here in march, expect pics!)
cna't tell you anything about the rest, but for more pics look at the website of boesefloe!

Yesterday I sent a price request to Ran. This Dariusz guy answered just now and my axe would cost 1120 €uros...
Fast answer..!
I was right about the neck. Their standard neck is 19 mm at 1st fret, and the minimum thickness I can get is 18 mm. And he said I can choose any bodyshape, headstock or color...
Damn, designing my own guitar! Would be sweet...
I'm gonna start designing in my head, I don't think it's a good idea to rush away and order too soon. I'd rather not regret anything in a few weeks.
I'm thinking of putting on Sperzel tuners, TonePros bridge, Earvana nut and make it string thru body. I'm most certainly able to do that, altough I might have to buy the stuff myself and send it to them.

he can build anything, if he can't get the stuff, you can send it and he makes it work. great huh?
that's not expensive either man, my custom ran was a bit more, though I had some crazy options but for the cash, man, its going to be one hell of a guitar.

No, it's insanely cheap! A LTD-top of the line model costs about 200 €uros more.
Are you having some kind of weird paintjob on yours, or is it a plain color?
I'm not gonna overdo anything but the finish I'm thinking of is perhaps a bit harder to do than a regular sunburst...
