Best regards

... it seems RAN has increased its prices a bit ? This quote doesn't ask a
fully customized guitar with complexe inlays, painting or something like this...
Nevertheless, it's still a very good price for a custom axe (with RAN quality)...

Yes, I was a bit surprised when I saw the price. Simple finish, no complexe inlays... Maybe it´s because of the S body... Do you know if the price includes shipping cost? I´m also considering a Jackson SLSMG Soloist (thin body as the ibanez S, neck through, 24 frets, fixed bridge). I can sell the EMGs and put the pickups I want. Cons: the color (not white finish) but I´ve read very good reviews about the SLSMG. How much does it cost to paint a guitar?

I disagree, I had 2 rans and now I have sold them for better (and cheaper guitars) RAN are living off hype it seems to me.
When I got my guitars they were worth the money, now, not so much.

I can buy a Jackson SLSMG for 1000 Euros In Spain. The Ran I asked for is 1800 Euros. It´s a big difference. Do you recomend me go for the Jackson and forget the Ran? Anyone else thinks a Ran guitar is not the best option at this moment?

yeah, in my opinion, as your quote does not really ask for CUSTOM features, you should go for a mass production guitar, which will probably cost less.
The Jackson SLSMG is quite a good guitar. Try it first if you can to see
if its neck is the way you like it and don't hesitate if you do!

Caparison, they are quite expensive but if you want a guitar that plays like a dream you cant go wrong.
Although those of you that want a custom are lucked out.

ah heard lots of great things about Caparison really! unfortunately I havent even so much as seen one personally
but didnt you say they were cheaper than the RANs? I seem to remember the better Caparisons being at least the same price...
I'd love to check out a Caparison 7 though. too bad they dont make any V-modells hehe (well ok, NOONE does 7-string Vs as production modells these days)

well infact 1st caparison was roughly $1400 where as my first ran was $2000
from what I hear now rans are around $3000 for something along the lines of my old ones, also the main thing that pissed me pff about ran, I asked for a certain paint job, when I got the guitar it was a printjob......wasnt impressed.
Once I played the cap the RAN's went, simple as.

And we can add the DEAN RAZORBACK 7, but yes, this is not a pure V style...

Jackson actually made a production 7 sting RR in the 98' and 99'. They were priced at about $500 if I remember right. I know I wanted one but by the time I was really to order they had stopped making them.
Except for that model there hasn't been many production 7 string V's.

ah right, I remember seeing one, that makes a whole of 2 production modells that I know of.
yea well, I much prefer symetrical Vs to RRs anyways (I DO own a 6-string RR though cause they are still cool. its not a jackson though)

I just got a quote... 2500 euros. Too steep for my blood. Granted I did want bindings and a few other options but man that's pricey.

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh yeah!
Gomli: well, noone NEEDs a b-tuned guitar either, or a C or D tuned one for that matter...
also noone ever said F# is the only way to tune an 8. I've seen quite a few people use them to extend their range to the high side instead of the low.
ALSO as always in those things thats solely a matter of personal preference. I've given up about the "noone needs [insert feature here]" a loooooong time ago

its not like I could name a lot of well-known artists that do, but its definitally been done before quite a few times!
also even high A is not the only alternative to a low F#. for example some people tune in 4th or some other tuning they find usefull or just simply fun to experiment with
even for those who do extend their range to the high or low side its not always simple about having more range but also about having new possibilities as to how to play some stuff or whatever.
for example I've read a post of a guy, ages ago, who always played 6-strings and got a 7 to play around with. he actually DID tune it with a high A. he was more of a "classical" metal player who did a lot of his soloing around the middle area of the neck so the 7 gave him more range to play with without leaving his usual habbits. its all about experimentation and fun. if YOU dont find that fun or usefull then just stay away from it! no problem with that! not at all!
now I, for example, have quite a lot of fun with stuff like that. no problem here either *shrugs*

Hi guys. I was interested to buy RAN custom made guitar and found some pictures in gallery on Ran website... I was reading this RAN guitars thread since yesterday, about 50 pages of 213 now, and cant find the person who ordered this one guitar from RAN:
http://ranguitars.com/gal1.php?z=225
http://i382.photobucket.com/albums/...MadeGuitar1.jpg
Im very interested is that person comes from this forum? and about all specification for this guitar, how long it took from order until guitar was shipped, and first important thing is about the price for that amazing shape etc...? I hope someone can send me a link to read more about this one, and Im sorry if there was anyone already asking about it but as I said before I was reading 50 pages now and cant find anything exactly about this one so it was nice to read everything about... Thanks!
I love RAN guitars too.
Stay Heavy!

What happens to this forum?
Hi all Ran owners and future owners!
This forum seems to be less used than before: what happens to the RAN brand?
Are there any guys here who ordered a RAN instrument recently?

I have to agree that the Ran Guitar company has grown. Considering the quality of their work it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I would still get another Ran if I needed a new custom guitar.

Hi Styx,
Received my Custom Ran in October, will put up photos and specs when I can stop playing it. I waited a year - but it was so worth it ! Dariusz @ Ran was perfect to deal with - totaly delivered my dream guitar.

Ran does do great work, but I don't like the fact that I wouldn't be able to see the progress of my axe being built & I don't think I could wait a year either...

ok. I'm waiting for your pics.
Was the setup of your guitar well done (Fret levelling, good action etc.)?
This was my only 'complaint' about mine, the action was too high when i
received it.

Hi Stealthy,
I know... a year does seem unbearable at times, but for me it gave me time to save up the final balance. Pictures throughout the build would be nice, although I don't think ESP or Jackson offer this service either , especially considering their prices.

Hi , as promised th spec for my custom invader. The body and neck are maple, neck thru construction. Ebony fretboard with aluminium side markers and initials at 12th fret - Dunlop 6130 frets. Hi Styx,
Thanks for the compliment. The tuners are LSR Precision Tuners, they are self locking with a 40:1 gear ratio. They were made by a company called Intertune, last I heard they were looking for a new manfacturer in China, however the website link is no longer. They are available in the UK from Bailey Guitars (link below), and possibly www.edroman.com in the USA.

I hate to be a down-er here but Ed Roman truly is known as the biggest rip-off artist in the guitar making industry, I wouldn't trust them in any circumstances...

Dude! I love LSR tuners. I used to have a set on my old Jackson. I would have them on all my guitars if they were not so difficult to find and so expensive. Last time I seen them new for sale in the US they were $180 a set!
And yes, as for Mr Ed Roman... Beware.
Nice axe btw.

Why is no one posting here anymore ? Did people stop ordering cuz of the price ?
And why is Jeff Water's signature model discontinued ?

I was wondering the same thing: when i registered to this forum, there was lots of
interesting things each week, but now it seems that the "RAN madness" has
come to an end. Why? For sure because of the prices increase and maybe also
because everything was said about RAN ?!?!
Nevertheless, new models in the gallery.

I should post some updated pics of mine though the RR needs new strings and the action lowered probably a truss rod tweak is in order...
I havent ever read that much bad stuff about Ran, one of the silliest complaints was guy posting on Harmony central saying the action was too high or too low... both of my Ran's came with a pretty low action..
I will get another I've started a savings account so when i've fully decided what bridge(hardtail floyd, or wilky) neck joint(bolt or neck through) 22 or 24 frets, and whether to go for normal black or cosmo/black nickle i'll order it...
I still would like to order one for my old guitar teacher, but with a thicker neck...
I think another reason people arent posting here so much is the gallery is updated fairly regularly so people dont need to post their new axes because they've probably allready been seen...

maybe iam blind but i don't see my guitar in the official gallery
she plays and sounds perfect, really warm and clear tone...
i unfortunatly have no camera or something which could judge the sound/quality of the guitar so you have to wait for the album coming out mid/end of the year

Hmm the first reason is that I bought her from eBay and the price was just killer . I mean I sent a request to Dariusz for exactly the same guitar and that'd be 1490€ and I payed 666€.
Second, for sound versatility I prefer lighter pickups in middle-and neck-position such as normal singlecoils. And also this one should be my metal only guitar
I also have a custom strat staying around here and a strat with a humbucker in the bridge position, that pretty much covers my whole wanted sound spectrum

Damn, good deal man. I've still yet to play a Ran as I've heard how killer they are in price and quality (and this thread alone attests to that). Some day.
