There was no routing, but there is a decent sized gap where the 81-7 used to be. Not as attractive as the 81-7 was, but the sound blows it away so it doesn't really matter.
I just got my EQ in today too, so hopefully I'll do a cannibal vid or something soon.

im nearly ready to order my ran. im just sorting out some final touches to my specs.
at the moment im thinking about the headstock logo. im going to ask to have it inlayed with MOP rather than a decal. but anyways, about the font, i've narrowed it down to the following two (attatched).
The first one is similar to the current ran logo, how ever, imo, it eliminates the cheese factor and has a classy feel.
the second one just looks cool, but im not sure if it suits this particular headstock. its nice and simple though.

From what I hear, OFR fucked themselves when they sold Schaller the lease of use to design. Schaller built a badass floyd design that was better than OFR.

lundgren are a swedish company that produces passive pickups which are supposedly awesome for metal. apparantly they RAPE active pickups such as emgs and allow more of the tonal qualities of the wood to come through.
i personally havent tried them, but every review i have read of them normally end with a phrase like "i will never go back to actives" or "my emgs are on ebay right now".
i might order some with my ran, but i dunno, i wanna hear one first.

Well, actually, EMG's are definitely going in there. 60 for the neck and 81 for the bridge. I might swap them out though if I don't like them. I'd love to try some Lundgrens (especially the M7 for my Schecter) but they're pretty damn expensive. |

You should try Dimarzios, easier and less expensive to get in the USA. They have a large variety of pickups for all tastes so you're bound to find one you like, and they're inexpensive compared to these lundgren and bareknuckle duders. Later this week I'm selling some kid my 81 and 85 set and putting in a Paf Pro in the bridge for the moment, then I'll buy either a Bareknuckle OR a Dimarzio evo for the bridge position, moving the PAF Pro to the neck(I always wanted to try it there(bridge)).
I really grew attached to the EMG 81 though, so I'm actually having 2nd thoughts. My 2 other guitars are passive, maybe it wouldn't hurt to have 1 active gtr...

<3 the Blazes, I have them in my Universe. But there are even nicer(IMO) ones for high gain territory. I really like the Tonezone in thin sounding guitars, the X2N is wonderful too, it should be the hottest Dimarzio ever I think. The evo I haven't played but I think it would also slay for metal rythm given it's bright and tight characteristics, really sensitive though I hear.

Soul: Go with a Bareknuckle NailBomb in the bridge, with the PAF Pro in the neck- that's what i've got in my Ran at the moment, and it kills Will at some point switch to a Bareknuckle in the neck, but i'm undecided on which one. And i'll probably be getting a matched set of Nailbombs for my 7 string... rock and roll!

Well, I just priced those Lundgren pups and WTF! They are the only manufactures of 8 string pups, but $400+ for a set!!!? Fuck! If I can't play what I want on 6 or 7 strings, than I will play it on piano.
Those pups had better be designed by NASA and built with materials stolen from the tombs of dead gods, because I will be highly pissed if I don't get a badass tone or $300 resale back out of them. I will buy a set but it will not be today.

about those Lundgrens: I havent had the chance to try one personally but I pretty much love every single clip I hear where they have been used so I plan on doing the following:

its a 7-string V that I designed myself. its kinda along the lines of things like Moser V, Rico Vixen or KXK Warrior V. maple neck-thru, mahogany wings, ebony board, 24frets, all satin black, white binding all around, BC Rich styled headstock (think pat o'briens axes), Dimarzio X2N7 and AN7, 3way toggle, volume, 3way mini for neck-PU series/split/parallel, killswitch, Schaller Floyd
