That's a fucking steal!
I mean, seriously a neckthru with flamed top, bindings, ebony fretboard, all mahogany neck/body, sd's and custom build?
fuck yeah. I asked the guy if he could do the '80's kramer stagemaster carved bodys and do sustainer systems and shit. who knows. but this seriously puzzles my mind, it's CHEAP! ofcourse if I end up at around 1500 bucks its a bunch of money, but look at what ESP would charge for a guitar like that.. hell. and this is cheaper for me to get because I don't have to pay customs in the EU and the shipping is cheap....

I used http://www.foreign-currency.com/ to handle all the wiring and currency exchanging. There were many extra fee's i had to deal with partialy due to my pos bank (wells fago). First the Shipping, dariusz told me that he gave soulinsane a deal on the shipping since he was one of the very first or maybe even the first american customer, my shipping is so expensive cause ran switched shipping company's to a more reliable, fast, safer service. Me and soul are still trying to figure out if the shipping costs includes the customs ransom fee . First off i had to pay $30 to wire the money from my account to the DFX ( http://www.foreign-currency.com/) account, then another $35 to convert my money to euro and transfer it over to rans account. So all in all the the guitar cost around $1690.05 and then once its shipped out if i have to pay customs fees itll be around $1800.00, IMO thats a pretty damn good deal for a custom guitar. Once all this is shipped out ill post up pics right away (i am getting a new digital camera just so i can take pics of this guitar, thats just how awesome i am ) and ill tell everyone what i think of the cases and what not that ran uses, but i wont really need to explain the quality of the uber guitar since soulinsane has already done that, but i will anyway. Also anyone have any suggestions for a high quality digital camera i should get?

Wow, I was the first American customer! My Ran was also the first to have a Kahler too.
Def, I know how you feel about not being able to play a Ran first before buying, but I couldn't get any guitar company in the US to make this guitar for a good price and I had to look elsewhere in the world. I'm very happy with it though. It is what I expect a custom handmade guitar to be... FLAWLESS! It took like 17 weeks from the time I ordered until I had it in my hands. 4 weeks of that was shipping and being held by Customs office for me, but still fast for a custom made guitar.
Dariusz is great to work with too. He made mine with a Kahler and a Jackson headstock and all I did was send him pics and specs to help him. He will build you anything you want if your serious about the guitar. Labor is cheap in Poland and I believe Dariusz does all the work himself, so you get more for your money. That's why Rans don't cost that much. Ran is how guitar companies should all be, imo.
I don't have any sound clips but you can hear Ran guitars being used by bands like Vader at Empire records. Just about all those bands use Rans.
I wish I lived in Europe so I didn't have to deal with US Customs, but one day I'm going to visit Poland and Ran guitars just when Dariusz is about to finish my next Ran, so I can just take it back myself. There are now a few reviews at HC about Ran guitars, one of them being mine

Thanks for the answers Soul, you definetly 'gots the soul' haha
I read those reviews on HC, sounds neat. I'de like mine to have a kramer stagemaster body in mahogany, with a wizzard I neck and a Jackson dinky headstock.
that all neckthru, with s-d's, maybe a sustaniac, shit like that, but I'm not sure about having a trem on it or not, neckthru's have great sustain, a tune-o-matic bridge might be good, then again I do like trems, but it might be nice to have a guitar without a trem for once. Meh. at the cost he does Floyds, its actually a dumb thing not to have a trem on it.
I might ask him to do custom inlays too. as long as I don't end up above 1500 bucks, I'll be fine. I'm awaiting his next email now for details and I'll see what happens. I don't have the money in full right now, kinda like 900-ish, but if you can pay half in advance and the other half later on, it'll be ok, I might order it within a month if I can get my head sorted and think it all out.

I was going to get a tune-o-matic bridge if he couldn't install the Kahler, but he did. I hope everything works out for your guitar too. Just send him specs and pics and he will be able to build that guitar with no problem. Dariusz is a very talented builder and normally e-mails back within 24 hours; I like that.
One day his prices will have to go up because he will need to hire help. I know he has been getting lots of orders this year and I wonder how he manages to get them all done in time. Anyway, get one while they are still cheap.
Oh yea, do you have any pics of a Stagemaster? I was just wondering what they look like myself.

yes, t'is a stagemaster: http://i5.ebayimg.com/02/i/02/95/78/eb_3.JPG
I guess you're right though, he's incredibly cheap if you look at the specs of the thing I did as a tester, I couldn't get that anywhere for 1300 bucks, forget it!
I'm confident he can make it happen, if you see how he did your jackson headstock, looks great, I want one too, since I am looking to re-incarnate my once stolen dinky into a new design (the stagemaster with my specs, neck thru etc etc)
It would be awsome, I'de get elements of each my favorite guitars all stacked into one guitar!

they can build it. it's going to be more expensive, but not too much at all, so I'm going to go for it as soon as I get all my details planned out.
oh, and Michael (soul?) Dariusz says thanks to you for letting me know about his instruments and the praise.

No profit? I feel good helping folks get dream guitars for a good price. I could do this all day. Besides, he might hire me someday if I keep this up I'm kinda the Ran guitar representive of Metaltabs anyway.
Your very welcome Def, but I do expect some pics once you have it. I love looking at custom made guitars
I will have to give Dariusz my new e-mail address so I can keep in touch with him. I didn't think he would remember me, but if he asked you to thank me then that has got to be good

I mentioned an american guy telling me that he'de be great to work with, plus you gave detailed info on metaltabs.com, well he does remember you, in 'polish' english 'say many thanks to michael!!' haha!
I have to send the guy some more pics for the stagemaster body, since its carved all way around and shit, but he's confident he can make it, so hell yeah! I'll definetly get some pics when I get it, but thats prolly gonna be in over 3/4 months, I haven't made my choices yet and knowing myself, it'll take a couple of weeks before I know all the details I want.
What I've come up with so far:
Darkblueish-see through finish
white binding all around (headstock, body, neck)
neckthru construction, all mahogany guitar
jackson dinky headstock (reincarnating my stolen DINKY!! TAKE THAT FUCKING THIEVES!!!!!)
Ibanez wizzard I neck profile (yes, I not II!)
Custom fretboard inlay (probably only a small inlay on the 12th fret, but I don't know what yet, I allready had 2 sharkfinned guitars and I want something a bit more classy for this pornoguitar)
golden hardware (making it a darkblue/whitish/golden guitar?)
s-d pickups (don't know exactly which ones yet, I'll try everything they have at musik productiv next week)
'custom shop' on the headstock under the Ran logo (or something else, like model DEF83 haha)
I'm still doubting about a tune-o-matic or a floyd, but I think I'm going to go with the OFR, since I enjoy abusing trems every now and then.
I need to have a sample of the finish so I'm probably going to steal a prs colour or something like that.
Full of ideas anyways, but this is pretty close to what my dream guitar looks like, hell, it packs everything I'de need in a guitar and its a perfect re-incarnation of the guitars I own or owned and would want to own but don't meet my specs (stagemaster..)
anyways, ideas are welcome, I'm still drawing it all up. does anyone know the adres of that online guitar maker thing Atif once posted?

Good damn Def! That is going to be a nice guitar, but the more Stagemaster pics and spec about the Wizzard I neck the better it will help Dariusz. Plus it will help you feel that he has everything he needs to make it perfect. I sent him lots of info and pics about my order... you have seen the result I can't think of much more to add to your guitar to make it better, but a nice flame top might look nice though. I have always liked a mixer of Mohogany and maple in a guitar.

An ebony fretboard will contrast will that see ttanparent blue finish real nice.
Ebony exspecially looks great with no inlays. Man that guitar is gonna kick ass!

Yup, ebony fretboard was my plan too, I only want one inlay at the 12th fret, but I have no idea what to put there yet.
I think I'll stick with the structure of the mahogany wood, flamed tops are.. I don't know, they allways 'look' fake for some reason, I don't know if I like them or not, most of the time I don't.
there won't be a lot of the structure visible though, because I'll be getting a really darkblue finish with just a little bit of shine-through. anyways, I'm allready a happy man, this guy can do anything you want him too as long as you supply him with pics and shit, awesome!

How about getting "DEF83" on the 12th fret and skip the head stock label under the Ran logo?

Dariusz shipped mine today, and it is on the way.
If I can get hold of a digicam on campus, I'll send pics when it arrives.
More later.

SWEET If you need pics of it fast you could get a disposable camara, take pics, and have the store develope the film onto a CD-ROM disc. I did that and it worked Ok. I can't wait to see yout guitar dude!
Next week will be the defining moment with US Customs. I'm ready if you have problems Get the tracking # from Dariusz and call the shipping company the day it gets to the US to see how much the Custom cunts want for ransom, if any. Pay them and keep on the shipping companies ass about picking it up from Customs fast before they get any new ideals. After that you should have it in about a day.

Dur-Hur, can't, ass. Can't copy drag down bars. And it didn't have an address to send it to. Found one afterward, and said "Fuck it, I won't have the money for it for at least a year."

I hope so 'cause if you miss out on good Ran deal while you have the chance I will point and laugh at you the rest of my life.
They will not be at this price forever folk's! Look what has happend to every other great guitar builder that started out this same way... Jackson, B.C. Rich, Ibanez, PRS, ESP, ect...?
Get the new Ran before they blowup into a major guitar company. Your kids will be glad you did so they can sell your guitar and buy a badly made Daisy Rock guitar.

He said he was going to get a RR and I think he said he even ordered one, but he would never keep in touch with me about it. He just droped off... You might have the first American Ran RR Dariusz made. Either way you might want to find out by E-mailing Fritz.
The first RR Ran is a prize to have no matter what!

I do know that you or Fritz have the first Ran RR. I would ask Dariusz about it 'cause it would be a great honor to have the very first custom Ran RR ever.
I'm sure one day as long as Dariusz lives, that Ran will be a well known guitar company... Just like the other greats. No shit.

I had a looky around the web about what poeple know about Ran guitars. Lots of poeple seem to like them and others have just never tried one. Seems that Metaltabs is the definative source of Ran guitar info next to the Ran guitars site itself.
YG, sorry dude! Rans are a great value but it's not like buying a beer at the pub. They still cost a good amount of $$$.

Yeah, you're right Soul... I've talked about them with a guy on ultimate-guitar who knew about Ran, but he didn't dare to order one from the Czech Republic hehe. I told Dariusz that I gave you his thanks, he's a cool guy to keep in touch then. I mean, not like your average Sam Ash salesman
metaltabs should have Ran sponsoring or banners :d

I like Dariusz. He is one of the coolest dudes I have ever worked with and I know he must have a ton of work, but he manages to keep in touch. He really works hard to make sure you get just what you want. Also his wife helps him a lot too. My warranty was writen by her and she has the same name as my wife... Joanna!

yeah, he answers emails in detail and takes his time for you, from what I can tell after exchanging some emails.
cool name by the way, just like your kid! Julia is such a cool name, I had that name in my head for many years, if I'de ever get a girl, I'de like to call her that too, when I saw your kid's name was Julia I was like 'huh?' that was kind of weird.
Anyways, my girlfriend is named 'Mijke' but you prolly don't see that name a lot in the US
ps. those Ran banners might work better then those shitty ones we've got up now. lol.

I believe you got your names mixed up, Def. My little girl's is named Mikaela (My-Kay-la), a female version of mine, and my wife's is Joanna. Julia was name I was considering though for my little girl. Kinda weird that you mention that name. But how do you say Mijke? Like My-Key?

Jezus, yeah sorry about that, I've been drinking for 5 hours straight (its 3:56 here now at night), it was another guy I talked to today on msn who got a daughter this week!
Mikaela is a cool name too, and original, I never heard anyone named like that.. Julia, yeah I think I just got something with that name. weird.
Mijke is pronounced more like 'Myke', like Mike but with an Y (=ij in dutch) I don't know how to explain properly, hehe.
anyways, Ran = cool, lol. (to stay on topic)

Well the google banenr would have to stay cause im sure nomad gets money from them, which he uses to pay for server expense. But maybe a banner on the homepage somewhere? Would be cool!

I would love to give thanks to Ran somehow if I had a site myself. Dariusz knows just how a guitar company sould be. Get what you what fast and not feel like your being riped off. Plus, I would say that his craftmanship is better than any US custom shop guitar I have ever seen or played. He is dream come true for metalhead guitar lovers.

Ran guitars are best value :-)
Hi there,
I read the thread about ran guitars here and saw a pic of my custom x-plorer
Perhaps you are intrested in a few real pictures of the instrument
Here are a few.
http://boesefloe.kicks-ass.org/ran/
By the way: I am very happy with this Instrument. It was the best choice I could ever make!

Nice!
thanks for posting that link, I've been wondering about the details of ran's, since I'm getting one build myself.
also read your stuff on harmony central, good shit. how much did it set you back? the custom paintjob prolly costed a bit right? I'm heading for 13-1500 euro's for the guitar I'm getting made, but theres hardly any of the 'stock' custom options...

The locking tuners from Schaller are working extremely good!
The instrument stays nearly in tune like a guitar with Floyd or Kahler Tremolo.
Even when you are very hard playing.
I got my instrument for 1100 Euro. plus 70 for the case and 50 for shipping to germany.

the passive/active wiring is working very well.
The two volume pots are helpfull there.
The EMG (in Humbucker mode) is nearly as loud as the Seymour.
The only reduction are combinations of passive AND active pickups at the same time. In this mode you are hearing 80% EMG and only 20% of the passive Seymour. You could buy a pre amplifier from emg (and solder it intthe passive part) to eliminate this.
I can split the EMG and the Seymour seperatly from humbucking to single coil so there are many different sounds possible at this time.
Enough for my needs.
And the best thing: They are all sounding great!

I cant thank soulinsane enough, if it wasnt for him i wouldnt have a ran. I remember the day i found out about them, it was back when my friend showed me the site and he thought it was awesome how cheap they were. I decided to make my own custom, sent it in, and loved the price, touched up on it a little and then talked with soulinsane about it for a pretty long time on all the details. Thanks for all the help with the banking and whatnot and im glad to hear the dariusz thinks all of us here at metaltabs are good people. If it wasnt for this thread i wouldnt be a metaltabs member, kind of like our new friend boesefloe (KICK ASS GUITAR, by the way).

never gonna happen. I'll be saving my money for modifications to the guitars I already have. Mainly, My washburn. And if I were to ever get a custom, it would be from a luthier I know.

Anytime bro I'm happy I could help you out, but it's not over yet. Wait until you get the guitar before you thank someone, and thank Dariusz first and the most. He deserves the thanks more than I. He makes some great guitars.

Im gonna acually start saving money for a Ran.. maybe like $100 a month.. that means by my birthday I should have half.. then I will have Dariusz start making my 7-String V. Then birthday money and a few more months of saving should cover the rest.
Now if only Kahler made a 7 string trem

Yea, no kidding! Now that Kahler has actually started making bridges again maybe they will make a 7 string model. I don't see why not!

The Soulinsanes custom is extremly cool!
Totally black with no inlays and black hardware!!
Thatīs one of my favorite color combinations
These Instruments are looking killer on stage!!

this:
Darkblueish-see through finish
white binding all around (headstock, body, neck)
neckthru construction, all mahogany guitar
jackson dinky headstock (reincarnating my stolen DINKY!! TAKE THAT FUCKING THIEVES!!!!!)
Ibanez wizzard I neck profile (yes, I not II!)
Nickle hardware (that chromegrey kinda stuff, not listed on the site)
s-d pickups OR Emg's. (don't know exactly which ones yet, I'll try everything they have at musik productiv next week)
'custom logo inlay at 12th fret with guitar's name.
tune-o-matic bridge and locking tuners.
this is the finish I will be getting, but with white binding: http://www.triplerguitar.com/used/p...arty_blue_f.jpg
