I nearly had a Ibanez RG 2 weeks ago. The wood was good and clean but everything else was fucked. All it had was tuners, half of a locking nut, fucked up paint job, and frets. It was going to take lots of love but I was sure I could turn it into something nice. I had dreams of installing a Kahler on it too, but Guitar Center wanted $120 for it. I only wanted to pay $40.

I just did it through my own bank. Not sure if there is another way to do a bank wire transfer outside of going through a bank...that was sarcasm.

Have you ever thought about getting Kahler bridges on your Rans like Slayer has? You have designed your Rans after Slayer guitars but they dont have the Kahler bridges like Slayer guitars. Dariusz knows how to put Kahler bridges on his guitars because he did it for my custom ( mine was the first with at Kahler ) and they are making Kahler bridges again. I think it would be cool to see a Ran that is a precise copy of a Slayer guitar.
I just like Kahler bridges and Ran guitars though.

This one has a Kahler 2315 on it. The next one (īcause there will be atleast one more) I`ll order might have a Kahler. Depends on what I like the best. Iīm used to Floyds, thatīs why I ordered my first 3 (one was a 7-string) with Floyds and I never played Kahler before. I got a hard time playing sweeps on a Kahler trem, but I like it more when it comes to riffing, fast down picking and speed picking, You know. I order KKV body shapeīcause I like the shape and I only play Flying Vs and the KKV is the best built V of them all. So itīs not only the fact that it is Kerry Kingīs guitar that I use them. But my guitars are not KKV, itīs RDV: Rickard Dahlin V due to the Floyd issue. As for now, I like Floyds better bt weīll see what happens in the future... Iīm liking the Kahler more and more...

Updated Ran Site
Hi Ran Community....
Finally I had enough time to make an update to the Ran User Site.
Check it out: http://ranguitars.floriandecher.de
There are plenty new instruments, some of them you saw before, but a few should be new for you.
As there is my third Ran custom guitar.
A tribute to Dime. I love it :-)
Tell me what you think and if your Ran is not listed at my site please send me the pictures and text and I will post it.

Wow! love the new pics and updates!
I'll be sending you some pictures in April; it's basically an Invader with the same color scheme as Hx4xsk8(blah whatever)'s ran, the black w/ white pinstripes, except with Duncans and it's not rhoads style.
I just noticed that the custom ones seem to have "custom made" under the ran logo...just a little tidbit but i think that's ultra-cool.

I'm pretty sure you can tell a custom shop Ran from a stock Ran I bet most, if not all, Ran guitars are custom made now days. Mine doesn't have custom on it but I didn't want it either. Hell, mine doesn't even have a serial #, but I ingraved my name inside the guitar in a secret place.
Btw, the Dime custom guitar That is fucking nice!

The only thing i hope Dariusz can do is get it done around mid-april and ship it to my Uncle in poland, since he's coming over in late april and he's supposed to bring it with him....maybe i'll send the final payment about a month early so he can get it done faster.

So how would you say a Ran plays, as far as the neck goes? Ive been talking to him about an endorsement but I havent played one before, the craftsmanship looks awesome.

Thinnest guitar neck I've ever played. They are thinner then Ibanez necks if you can believe that. Feels good and fast, but the neck does get thicker once you get to the heel. No problem for me but some people are picky about it.

Yeah but I'm a metaltabs member, I'm of the same nationality and I would treat his guitars like newborn babies if I were to hold them. I don't like other people playing my Ibanez so I can understand how it is to have a Ran.

I might let a Metaltab member or Dave Mustaine play my Ran...
But only after I inspect them for clean hands and things that might scratch it. No one but me has played it since I got it.

I think that depends on the tilt or not. No tilt on the neck, no pick up rings and vice versa.

I think Dariusz said that he uses direct mounted p-ups for better wood tone.

He should have explained this in the email? Usually 50%, and by Bank wire transfer only.

I ordered mine specifically with pup rings, I will probably change those and the covers, and truss cover to new ones this year, also will be ordering a tremsetter too...
If you wan't rings you have to specifically ask for them....

Dariusz must be sick of doing Laiho copies...
I only modelled my finish after laiho's, cause i happen to like it.
Hey 27frets, what are the specs on your Ran?
(also, he accepts 50% as first payment by bank wire transfer only. You can go to like a travel agency and do it. That's what I did.)

Well, I just mailed Dariusz about some minor details and also asking for pics, so a couple of those might be coming soon. The guitar itself is due late jan./early feb., pretty nervous indeed.
And thanks to Turbo Rico, for helping me out a bit with the ordering shiznit.
Yay, my first post. ^^

Like most things it depends on the specs and condition. And something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for something.

They have it up for $599, it looks perfect. Its an all black bolt-on reverse Jackson headstock w/sharktooth inlays, weird RG/Soloist style body, 2 hums w/ trem and chrome hardware. How much was something like this new? It plays alright, the strings are dead as shit though...it is a pawn shop.

I promise you can get then to go down on the price. I like getting them to lower the price, because you know they only pay $40-$60 and are just trying to rip someone off.
For example, I went into this one pawn shop not long ago and they had a "beat the fuck up" B.C. Rich BRONZE SERIES guitar priced at $350 Dude came over and said, "Thats an awsome guitar. I can't believe we managed to get one. A steal at that price too". I couldn't believe me ears. I told him you can get that very guitar brand new for like $150 at Guitar Cental. He said I was wrong
I would say the Ran guitar you descibe is about worth $600 but I would have to see it to be sure. Don't pay more then $400 though. Tell them you will give them $200 on the spot and work them. Let them know about the work the guitar is going to need before it is in proformance condition.

Dariusz has to maintain a overhead and if order volume exceeds overhead he has to raise prices a bit to expand. He had x5 the normal orders last year and his prices reflect that increase.
He is still has the best prices for a custom guitar that I know of. I did custom quotes on the guitar Ran built from Jackson and B.C. Rich yesterday for the fun of it.
Jackson= $4,000+
B.C. Rich= $5,000+
Ran= $1,500-

do you realy think ur gonan pay 1120 for a ran in 1 or 2 years?? im pretty sure the prices qwil go up pretty quick, cuz it seems rabn is getting verry populair
btw im gonna take a look at my custom axe end of this month to see where i want the volume and pu selector thingies, so my axe might be ready end of february i hope its not a ran but i though it tell everyone here anyway and mine is even 500 euros cheaper than a ran with the exact same specs

KxK's are around 2000$ so they're a good alternative for people in the US that want a lower priced custom. Still, I'd still buy a Ran as the guys from Vader and Decapitated use them.
There's a custom maker in Florida that has made guitars for the guys from Deicide, they got sued by BC Rich recently, but they make relatively cheap customs.

I read something about them 2 being arrested for trying to cross the Canadian border with heroin and other drugs, as well as for carrying a gun...

I honestly dont think many companies can match ran for their quality and price etc
As for being the best it's mostly personal preference....
I find Ran the best down to dealing with them price quality feel sound playabillity and allround awesomeness and thier abillity to fit my want's / needs....
Rans rule

ur absolutely right, ran isnt verry expensive, if you compare them to custom jacksons, conklins, and whatever brand u can think of, those usualy start at 3000+ and thats just the guitar with nothing special onit
though i have a feeling someday ran wil become like that aswel ([probaly not in the next few years).
anyway my dad gave me 500 euros for no reason so my custom is prettymuch payd, well when i get my money from work end of the month that is

The headstock logo ist made out of pure silver.
And its done really perfectly (I only send a crappy painting of the headstock)! It was Dariusz idea to make it out of metal and 3 dimensional.
the trussrod cover is Aluminium. (It will come on Peters new signature axe).
