the leads on it are great, channel 4 has some great hi-gain lead tones on it. if you allready have 2000 saved, I think I'de rather go for a savage 120 or savage SE though. the leads on that just sound more 'fluently' compared to the powerball which is more into the heavy regions instead of lead tones. It still pulls off great leads but the Savage is just slightly better IMO.

Naturally! I'm psyched to have the chance to get such an amazing guitar at such a low price. According to Dariusz its gonna take like 5 months, but they seem to get delayed alot. Saying that, he makes so many damn RRVs that he must have some kind of wierd shred metal cookie cutter by now!

They are nice though, had a few niggly problems with my floyd but nothing major. I'm gonna get another someday for sure.

well actually one of the strings was lower than the rest, Ran's fault according to my local shop but he sorted that, and now the high D string has lowered so It doesnt sound out.

Guess i'll take it to town at the weekend, dont wanna risk messing with it myself. Other than that it really is a class guitar though

I dont think it'd cost much more at all TBH. I think the main reason mines costing so much is cos its a replica of an ESP...I'm thinking about getting an EMG SA in the neck.

I ordered a Jackson style headstock on mine and it didn't cost anything extra. It's mainly the specs that bump up the price, not to mention Dariusz has had to raise the price of his guitars lately.

Well... since a lot of people decide to get active pickups, choosing cheaper wood like basswood or alder wouldn't be a bad idea. Not that they're a bad idea with passives, but a lot of people prefer mahogany paired with SD's or Dimarzios or something. Basswood is light as hell...

I wanted to say that ran guitars are great for metal, but since you've been ordering so much guitars, the prices went up a bit, so now, there are other great manufactures that make great guitars and are cheaper than ran If anybody is considering buying a ran and don't like the emg pickups, ask dariusz about merlin pickups, they are passiv, but they kick ass, and don't sound as plastic as emg's.

Can You give us some websites to the other manufactures that make guitars in Poland?? Even though, I´ll stick to Ran Guitars. They make great guitars for the money You pay.

the other compannies do not have english sites, even they don't have a website at all and that might be the problem for you, they don't speak english- i think, but there are few guys that realy can make guitars for a good price

as to the merlin pickups the best recomendation is that vader also have axes with merlin hellfire (the name speaks for it self), listen to the first albums and ask dariusz about them.

my ran has a truss problem too, i dunno if its a problem, but its wierd. Its like the truss is backwords or somthing, clockwise turn loosens it and counter-clockwise tightens. I thought it was righty tighty, lefty loosey. It took me a long time to figure and, and how to work the truss and defeat it, but i finnaly got it good. AOS have you messed with your truss enough to know that is the problem for sure?

the truss is way over rated, it can only fuck your shit up if your a complete dumbass. If you do small 1/4 turns at a time, you will be fine. Plus i am trained in the ways of the truss, so far ive gotten a lot of experiance with them.

Right well the guy at my local guitar shop says it need heat treating but D said this:
Hi,
your guitar is equipped with dual action single truss rod, which is adjustable in two directions...it works a bit different than simple one way rod.
You can adjust the neck upbow and backbow. These truss rods works like a "Roman screw".
If the neck is bowed upward, you should a clockwise turn the truss rod screw and a counterclockwise turn when is bowed downward...don`t affraid, the rod can be loose between these positions.
At first, locate the wrench /1141 pic - headstock position/ and turn it to the first opposition, then make adjustment in small increments and check how much relief is in the neck.

Did you change the string gauge or tuned lower the guitar?

the price depends from the wood you use and other stuff (pickups, bridge ect.) but varies from about 750$ to 3500$ or even more.

Hmm, well $3500 is very steep. I've never seen a high spec (as in neck thru, maple top, ebony fretboard, Kahler etc.) Ran go for more than 1600 Euros, so that's why.

the les paul on the left cost about 900$, not 3500$(but there are guitars that cost so much), mahogany body and neck, flame top, rosewood fingerboard, shaller stuff, and the final effect is, imo great, i'm going to order a copy of les paul, probably from that guy, yes, his name is kania.

meh, im sold on RAN now,D is really helpfull and you get more of a bang for your buck than any other custom makers i've seen.

My RAN is still broke D's helping me find the problems and such so we'll see how it goes.
