I had a custom Jackson before college and I like my Ran better  It is really a mix between a KV-1 and B.C. Rich V with a Kahler trem. A true metal dream guitar. |

Hey guys, I finally fucking back out of school (PLDC)...damn that shit sucked...any way.
I think I might actually get some inlay on my V....I was think of black diamonds on the fretboard with white outlines or binding I guess around them....you think Big D can do that?
Also, what are these issues hx....... is having with his guitar? When I get mine, should I wait a day to open it so it can acclimate? I live in El Paso right now....which is about 4 or 5 thousand feet above see level.....hit me up guys

h8 problem seems to be a one time thing perhaps, i have never heard of these kinda things happening before to rans. besides the fret issue all the other "problems" are all personal tastes like changing the bridge and routing for a new pickup ect

As you know guitars can get problems when changing altitude pressures. I don't know if H8 are due to that or natural wood changes.

The other way around on that, white w/ black bevels, that wouldn't look bad either. I don't like colors out of white or black on my guitars, I just don't go for the quilted or flamed or just other colors that really stand out. I swear almost everytime I see like a custom RR-1 on ebay, the guys that order the guitar always goes for some really gay ass finish like this.

depends where your from and what you have done, my quote was about 1700 usd or so, and thats before shipping to the us and paying taxes and customs on it, so if your from the us, expect about 2000+ when its all said and done

i did some work on my ran, got my jb today, so i had to do some mad inner cosmetic work on it, i had to dremmill the inside of the electronics cavity to make the new 500k pit fit and drill the hole for the pot bigger. Also drill a new hole from the electronics cavity to the bridge cavity to make a ground wirehole to hook up to the trem. The JB sounds awesome though, i got a .001 MFD Cap inbetween the jack line and the hot out put line in the Potentiometer for the treble bleeding and it works great, i still maintain a good treble even with the volume barley turned up. i recomend people try that treble bleeding out.

:UPDATE RR PIC:
I got the JB in there, it sounds nice, except its a little wierd on my amp, not that chunky, doesnt have much *chug* *chug* to it, like when you pick an E5 or somthing. Im thinking it has somthing to do with the pickup height, i would mess around with it but since its scred straight into the wood i would have to put this foam under the pup to raise it, so i would rather see if any of you know a good height on the JB, right now its pretty far away.

Its a BLS Bandana, and I still havnt decided if if i wanna scar my ran that much. Its tempting, but i dunno, if i make a new route i have to replicate the nice satin finish on it when i finish the inside of the routed hole, which will be hard. My guitar teacher doesnt think i should do it, his reason is if i keep changing the custom to what i like then it will loose its custom "essence" and eventually just become some scared up guitar that has been changed many times. But its very tempting still, just one little route in there and my guitar could be perfect, its annoying to play without a neck pup . |

well i dont know about ONE route....if you routed in a neck then you woudl haev to route in a switch, and maybe another knob....

I don't know if I would have it routed. I would like to have my input jack like yours but I don't even know how it is done so I'm just going to live with it. It isn't that bad really. I already use a angled jack.

Glad thats one thing I specified with D, I even sent him a pic of a DV8 with the strat jack in the upper horn, allthough he's allready done a few one of them being your's H8.

It makes you able to sue standard straight leads, and makes it comfortable to sit when laying.
My KV has the lower input not that good imo, I think it may need rewiring as it cuts out.

I kinda liked the esp style logos, but I went with the jackson style since it's what fits my guitar bests. ah well, to each his own, IMO, its not a bad logo at all.

Big D actually dislikes the ESP style logo he has done beacuse it's not 'Ran'
I'm having the standard Ran logo on both my Ran's I admit it's not the best especially in white but my logos are going to be black on both guitars, should look a lot better.

i really dont think you should go to big D and tell him you want his logo done differently. it is a custom guitar but its still his company. i would be pissed if someone came to me and asked for me to change my logo so it looks like another company. if you want it to look soo much like that other company then go fucking buy that companies guitars

yea, i get what your saying, its almost like being ungreatful for their services, but i guess you are spending shit loads of money and so you do need to get it to your taste, if you get what im saying. so really its quite debatable.
but i like the kinda logos i drew up earlier, its not perfect but its decent

I'm pretty sure most companies will do custom logos if you ask them nicely, ScottIan had poisen pen style if i remember right on his jj's.
ESP have three or more differnet logo's, the block one and a more handwritten one, i'm pretty sure they will do it in a different style.
However I wouldnt tell them you think their logo sucks, frankly i like the STD Ran logo it suits me fine on my Ran's.

I totally agree, I would be pissed too. It's your pride and glory, hell if I emailed him now, i'de be like
'hey dude, you've been working on my guitar for half a year now, please put some lame esp logo on it when you're finished'

Wrong, Scott left Jackson last year or this year offically, washburn now make his sig, but im sure that most custom shop guitars can generally have options not normally available on standard models.
It would ahrdly affect Jackson making the different logo because he is scott ian, im pretty sure some of the custom shop's iv'e seen pictures of have plenty of different things which by your analogy shouldnt be on them as most of them werent endorsers guitars.

If think it comes down to this.
If you want a custom wether you are famous or not, The companys logo has got to be on the headstock. If you don't want it in their chosen style then that's ok. If you want something original like Dave Mustane having his ESP logo in a poison pen letter style on one of his ESP V's that's cool beacuse it's original.
If you get a Ran and want it to say Ran in the ESP standard logo style, that's wrong.
If Dave Mustane wants an ESP V but to have ESP written in say the Jackson style that is wrong.
It's either the companys logo in their style or in a original way and not in another way which is blatantly another gutiar companys style.
To be honest, who ever got their Ran and asked to have the Ran logo in the ESP dosen't have very much respect for Ran.

I wouldn't even care what it says on the headstock, as long as it's a kick ass guitar. I wouldn't even care if the headstock says "SHIT GUITARS", or if the company was called "GAY GUITARS" and it said it in like tye-dye colors, but if that's the case, then it better fucking be a nice guitar.
