These look pretty sick but the name on the headstock looks kinda lame. Do you know if anyone carries these? I'm looking for a new guitar and these seem fairly cool. Better specs than the ESP I was gonna buy.

they look nice, EMG's, schaller tuners, shame theres no original floyd on it, or a kahler. the name on the headstock does look lame, but for the money, it looks like a sweetass deal to me...
I never heard of Ran guitars before, never saw them in stores either, they probably don't sell them out of the US?

I'd never heard of Ran guitars before until i saw Vader in England. They were using Ran guitars. Anyway I think the guitars are all hand made in Poland and you have to order them or somet. But it's worth it for the price. It beats paying out loads of money for a guitar exactly the same.

Yeah, I agree, they use quality stuff building those guitars, and for their price, man... cheap... they look kinda like esp/jackson rip-offs, I wonder how they play

Ran Guitars
Im pretty sure this is the right forum.
Anyway, anyone ever hear of these? A friend told me about them. The have guitars as good as an ESP Kirk Hammet signature($3000) for like $600!! EMG active pick ups as standard and the custom shop is cheap too!

Hex (Gothic) instuments are like that too. You get a custom made guitar(any shape) bolt-on for $800 Neck thu for like $1200. Independent guitar makers are usually not going to change as much as Gibson because why pay the same amount for a guitar that plays just as well when you can get a brandname. And they are not trying to rip people off, just making a living doing what they love.

There pretty neat, I played on one, a while back now.It was a Fuckin great guitar for a relatively cheap price. I first saw them being used by Vader , when i saw them in nottingham. They kicked ass. I would seriously think about buying one but their situated in poland and are a bit of a bitch to get in contact with. If i were u i'd get a custom made invader off them

even though i'm not gonna buy one, i wanna get an estimate of what one of my custom shop guitars would be on there.
edit: i'm not gonna buy one, but can i still go to the custom shop to get an estimate? i know it says click to get price at the bottom of the form, but it also says order form at the top.

Tung oil is a type of finish, instead of laquer. This gives u a nice smooth feel, but this with cause the neck to warp earleir than laquer would because laquers harder.

What I'm saying is that say Ran guitars charged the same amount for their custom guitar as ESP. Who would you buy from? ESP right? Well a few hundred dollars of the ESP is that you are paying for the brand name and for the artist's lincense. Thats why the same quality guitar wil cost more from a big name than from a small name. Wow that was really hard to understand huh?

Ran Guitars
Any of you guys heard of this brand? The guy from Vader uses the "InVader" (haha) made by them, and Ive fallen in love with their Highvision model. The only problem is the price, 825 euros and I can only imagine how much shipping to Alaska is going to fucking be.....Anybody heard them play before or have one?

Overseas shipping is insane cost. 50$ would be a steal if you could find it for that cheap......but for shipping a guitar, that ranges anywhere from 10-20lbs, i'd guess you're looking at much closer to 100$ for shipping, if not more.
I ordered a goddamn DVD from the states, and it cost nearly 20$ shipping, and i'm in Canada.......usually these 2 countries have the best shipping deals because we're so close. From Polad to Alaska?? Eesh.......i don't even want to think about shipping that far!

And ESP and Jackson and Washburn but still oh so nice Besides they can custom build anything ( or any copy ) for a better price then the US. I don't feel the least bit guilty after being riped off by most US guitars companys for shit they get built in asia for pennies and then sell it here like its fucking gold.

You know...I just may get one of these. A hell of a lot cheaper than Jackson's custom shop, and most of their standard guitars only have 22 frets. Soulinsane, how long did it take them to make this for you? You can bet I'll be asking you some questions once you get it.

Indeed. He quoted me 1120 euro (~$1350) for an Invader shaped like the Jackson RR (looks like it'd be easier to play sitting down). Not a bad price at all, I may get it when I have that much saved, especially if you like yours.

Fritz, why don't you post your specs here. I would like to see them because I'm a guitaroholic. I had not thought of asking them if they even made an RR model, but any V is comfortible for me to sit with classical guitar style. I hope that mine is badass; from everything I gathered about Ran they are; and that you could get your dream guitar built some day soon. If you do decide to get one and have any problems or questions about sending payment ( the hardest part for me ) then just message me. They want half up front and the other half before shipment, but it's cheaper to send it all at once. I have all the info saved on how I did it. It's kind of a pain, but it's only standard US customs and money convertion shit and not hard to get through once you've done it once.
Post your specs though. I would like to see them.

Half up front isn't bad, hopefully it'll be easier for me to send payment...everything I asked of him is below:
Right Handed
Body Shape: Invader
Construction: neck-thru
Body Material: Alder
Flamed top: no
Body binding: no
Pickups: neck - hum, middle - none, bridge - hum
Finish: deep metallic red (metallic black edges)
Headstock shape: avenger
Neck material: maple
Reverse: no
Headstock finish: black
Neck finish: match body finish (metallic black)
Fingerboard: ebony
Number of frets: 24
Fret size: match to jumbo frets on Ibanez, Jackson guitars
Fingerboard inlays: shark fins
Inlay at 12th fret: yes, skull on same side
Fingerboard end: square
Fingerboard binding: no
Headstock binding: no
Nut: locking
Width: 1 11/16"
Hardware color: black
Bridge system: Shaller Locked Floyd Rose Tremolo
Tuning machines: Schaller M6
Pickups EMG
Neck - EMG 85, Bridge - EMG 81
Control knobs: volume + tone
Pickup selector: 3-way lever
Hard case: only if it will not fit in a standard guitar case.
Inlay at 12th fret: Skull on same side as sharkfins.
Deep metallic red, edges metallic black (like the one on the main page, but different colors).
For fret size, I want which is closest to the size of the jumbo frets on guitars made by Jackson or Ibanez.
Also, can you shape it so the point on the bottom is shorter, like on the Jackson RR series, so it is easier to play sitting down.

Been in the market for a while to get a new guitar. Gonna get one after i've gotten all my money from my summer job. I'm pretty stuck on a Carvin, but we'll see how this price quote comes out and see how you guys like yours. Here are the specs I entered...
Right Handed
Body Shape: Stealth
Construction: Set neck
Body Material: Alder
Flamed top: no
Body binding: yes
Back binding: yes
Binding color: black
Pickups: neck - hum, middle - single, bridge - hum
Finish: snow white
Headstock shape: stealth
Neck material: maple
Reverse: no
Headstock finish: match body finish
Neck finish: match body finish
Fingerboard: ebony
Number of frets: 22
Fret size: extra jumbo
Fingerboard inlays: block
Inlay at 12th fret: yes (initials)
Fingerboard end: square
Fingerboard binding: yes
Headstock binding: yes
Binding color: Black
Nut: bone
Width: 1 5/8"
Hardware color: black
Bridge system: Shaller Stopbar/Tune-o-matic
Tuning machines: Schaller locking
Pickups EMG
Neck - EMG 81, Middle - EMG SA Bridge - EMG 89
Control knobs: 2 volume + tone
Pickup selector: 3-way toggle
Hard case: only if it will not fit in a standard guitar case.
Other Options:Can I get 3 volumes (arrange in a line like a strat's, with the bridge volume closest to the pickups and the neck the farthest) and 1 tone (to the right of the volumes)? I'd like the pickup selector to only go to one pickup in each position (so middle is the EMG-SA). Can I get my initals (CBT 3) inlayed at the 12th fret (preferably within the block inlay)? I'd like the Ran logo on the headstock to be black. I'd like the toggle to be in the center of the wing under the neck pickup.

Fritz! Holy smokes dude! The paint job sounds cool as hell, but do you mean that only the beveled edges, neck, and peg face will be metallic black while the rest of the guitar is metallic red or that only that the front of the guitar body burst metallic red into metallic black or becomes black metallic sharp at the first front beveled edge of the body? Either way I realy like the 12th fret skull inlay and RR shape too. If you get it done post pics!
Metalprep6969, that will be one hell of a guitar too. A lot of binding but on a snow white guitar with block inlays ( nice touch on the CBT3 within the inlay too ) it looks really good. Also, very intrusting control config. I don't believe I have ever seen a 3x strat vol with one tone to the right and 3 way selector before, but I like it. I also had the bridge vol pot pleaced forward on my guitar with the neck second and tone last, just like a Jackson KV-1 control config.
Thanks for sharing your dream guitar specs. Post more if you like, because I think I'm taking over this thread ( sorry Undying_Hate, but can I have it as my own? ). I really like to hear about guitars.

Thanks man, guitar is my life, I spend a buncha time learning about it. What I meant by "in line like a strat's" is the three knobs on a strat are in a line (they are actually 1 vol, 2 tone. I want to have my volumes spaced like that and have the tone to the right of it (further from the neck than the volumes). I think that would be about the easiest for quick knob adjustments, which is pretty essential for live playing.
If you guys like fully customizable guitars, I'd recommend you check out Carvin guitars. www.carvin.com THey are cheap and they have incredible reviews. The guitars are beautiful an very nicely priced (as is all of their stuff). I've heard people say they like them better than any other guitar they've ever played: LPs, PRSs, etc etc... The body styles are less radical than the Ran guitars, but quite cool.
That invader looks freaking sweet fritz, nice paint job there.

Carvin do make nice guitars too and well priced at that. I have though about getting one so maybe next tax return I will. I really don't know why carvin doesn't get more props for their guitars but maybe it is because of their conservitive styling. I know that bass men really like their stuff though!

BLS, Sweet! I really like trans black tops of any kind! If you get this then you must also post pics.

You are lucky! You can almost throw a rock and hit Poland from Sweden. Do you have one of these guitars too or are you maybe planing on getting one?
Also thanks to everyone for the compliments. I do feel very lucky to finally be able to get this guitar. It took a year to save up for it.

Maple tops are only a then sheet, like 1/4", of maple placed on the front of the guitar and it cost, but can effect the tone of the guitar for the better. The flame maple sheet has a grain design the looks striped as if flames were crawling up it, I think, because there are also spralted, quilted, and birds eye tops too. This sheet is usually stained some transperent color and finished with a clear coat so that you can see the wood grain.
I'm no expert on guitars with tops but I think I'm right about all this. Hope I helped out.

Yeah that's right. It's good to blend two types of wood. Maple is bright, so if you put it on top of mahogany, the lows from it mix well.

Soulinsane is correct about flamed maple... theirs also curly, quilted, tiger, spalted.... the list never ends. If you ever wondered why PRS guitars looks so ncie its because they use high priced figured maple tops then stain the wood black... sand down the highspots... and restain is green... blue... red whatever color you want... that gives it a 3d effect. That technique works best on flamed maple and exspecially quilted mpale.

Right, to hell with the damn case. I can always get another, but a guitar has a soul. It is built from a living thing so I see it as retaining some magical value of life ( every one of them have a personal sound and feel ). It took years for the wood to grow. Good built guitars have materials that are hand picked from the oldest trees with good grain, right? Those trees have been through storms, heat, and are older then many of us. I worry more about this guitar then my own life I think. It will out last me, I'm sure.
Blahk, I'm drinking again so sorry if I sound crazy
I just got an ideal! Maybe someone sould design a case that can withstand a truck driving over it and the guiter be fine! Anyone have any ideals about how this could be done?

Yes, I did start this thread (quite obviously) and yes I would like one of these guitars. But if I were pulling that much money out of my fucking asshole Im pretty damn sure that getting insurance would be one of my top prioritys.

fritz, I was wondering about what you meant about have a "skull enlay on the same side as the sharkfin enlays" for the 12th fret of your Ran guitar specs. I'm not sure about what you meant about that so could you explain.

Stupid error, I forgot the sharkfins extend across the frets.
What I meant was, on the left.

I will let you know once mine gets here. If they are plastic then I am going to replace them with MOP, maybe even black MOP. It much cheaper to do it yourself and not that hard either.

meh
i guess tonal issues dont really matter if im putting an active emg in there, im thinking the preamp of the pickup will overpower any tones the wood has to provide, i dunno just a guess. I was really just looking for a guitar that wasnt neck heavy, i know my 2 epiphones are neck heavy and ive played the RR3 and thats pretty fuckin neck heavy, since im building the guitar neck-thru im just looking for one wood i could use thats not gonna make it neck heavy, + an ebony fret board.

The RR shape seems to even out the wieght. Mine has a alder body with a maple neck and thanks to the extended wing it even's out well.

That looks nice! Have you got a price on it? Mohogany wings with Maple neck-thru necks are my favorite. Even with active EMG it still shapes some of the tone. I also like mohogany neck and bodied guitars with EMG. This is only my opinion, so do decide for yourself. I love all guitars... I would even love a guitar made of plywood, as long as it was made with quality.

Yea
Metalmillitiant yes i did make it with that flash program and i made some others but i edited a bunch of them now.
And yea that guitar is gonna be around 1080 euros with a case, which is around 1200-1300 dollars, and its a mahagony body with ebony fretboard mahogany neck and headstock, and im trying to think whether i should gho with the esp headstock http://www.adueinteriors.com/custom.jpg or the jackson one http://www.adueinteriors.com/custom1.jpg, now that i look at it i think the jackson would be a better choice. Ill take that maple neck into consideration soulinsane. But i have one ?, if a neck-thru construction is like one piece of wood carved into a guitar, how can you choose differant headstock, neck, and body woods? yea the whole insperation for this guitar was alexi laiho from CoB and sinergy.

I wonder if they could route all the pickups routes.. bridge route... ect. I want a unfinished body and neck so i can just install whatever pickups i want, what bridge i want... and finish it the way i want. should be cheaper too.

Maybe not. Anything with a value decleared under $200 USD isn't taxed by customs and has no reason to stay with Customs.

Because Dariusz insures for the cost of the items. No way to get around Customs if they know its insured for over $200. Customs might seize an item forever if they believe some kind of fraud is involved.

USPS???? Our Post Office (the UK that is) makes yours look like your mail is delivered by God himself.
I live in the UK, slightly cheaper still to send stuff, as as cool as Vader and Decapitated look like with this things, I think I may end up buying a custom axe from a luthier I know. I do a guitar shops website, they don't normally have anything I fancy, cos they deal in old Gretschs, Gibsons and all that stuff, but their luthier knows his shit, and he'll probably do me a sweet ass custom axe which is totally fucking amazing for not very much at all (in terms of custom made guitars anyway, he's not going to give it away).
I could walk by the shop and see it being made day by day and not have to pay any shipping at all!
Only problem is tho, being a small operator, he doesn't have facilities for the really hardwaring laquers (cos the professional plastic stuff is lethally toxic), so if I knocked it it might chip really easily.
That of course depends how careless I'd be with my custom guitar...
I know a guy who bought a PRS, and at a gig thie rother guitarist knocked it off a stand within a week or something and chipped it. He just said "shit...ah well, accidents happen...".
I'd have killed him where he stood.

That sounds like a good idea, DeathMaster. Thats what I would do if I wanted a custom guitar.

does anyone know how ran guitars compare to shamray, full customs i mean. Because they are about the same price but shamray seems to have a lot more experience copying crap, theyll even do the vai vine inlay thing.
