Naglfar? I don't know if you're living in the same world as me, the stuff I have is just solid ole Dissection-ish death/black metal. Nile, for example, is noticably more brutal.
I think I like Naglfar better though. The cover of The Evil That Men Do just fucking rules. ALL Iron Maiden covers rule.

All the playground objects were alive, including the swings and the merry-go-round. A silvery-blue arch of plastic color formed and collapsed in the center. A toy little boy, or maybe she was a little girl, jumped along this object, sliding down it, hanging on with small fingers, leaping into the grass. I felt a sense of responsibility begin to resonate within me, both for the knowledge of my wife and my coming child, and the deep psychedelic responsibility of my shamanic-like path. I glanced away briefly and one of the DMT beings, tall, thin and golem-like, grasped my head and turned it back to see. Now don't get me wrong, death and black metal is great but heaviness does not only depend on speed, harshness and how low you tune. It's gotta be a full sound - a total aural explosion. I think Strapping Young Lad (SYL) is one of the heaviest bands I've heard. You black metalers probabaly won't like it at all because it is "sonic", electronic and not very evil... but god damn it! It's a huge fucking sound! Try Underneath the Waves... it's great. I think lyrical content adds to it too - SYL lyrics are some of the most pissed off fucking lyrics... it's not whinging shit you hear from nu-metal. It's fuck everything and fuck u all!

I think of it as hard, slow, with dark riffs....
I still think Rammstein by Rammstein is quite heavy, though... Rammstein got me onto heavier stuff than Metallica.

Actually I don't have Slipknot cd's....BUT I am a big fan of
Mick Thompson because of his improvisation.I do not
use google...I currently live in Los Angeles California where bands
like Resistence, Kataklysm, Anubis Rising, Crucible, Cerberus,
Thou Shall Kill, Defile, Crematorium, Circle Of Dead Children,
Soul-less, Unsanctified and Tchildres are from. I live in the underground
metal scene you fuckin hater....And I also work for a show called
LA METAL TV I'm the one finding local underground bands to recommend

HEAD BANGERS BALL is on MTV2? You probably watch it! Plus I live in
a poor ass area where no can even afford Satellite and Cable, so
I only watched HeadBanger's Ball just once because I was at my
aunt's house and they had cable, yeah it does kinda suck because of
Slipknot being in there, but I can't do shit about it, I'm not the owner
of MTV.

I'm not saying you're a poser....I used to live in
Armenia where hardly any metal bands where around.
Just that his ass would talk shit just because I enjoyed
the Arch Enemy and Hate Eternal videos. Shit, I don't
have Broadband to be checking out every underground band
that is around the whole world. And on my last post about
underground bands being in MTV, was about how shocked I
was to see Death Metal bands on a Big Mainstream Music Video Channel
where all they play is Snoop Dog and Shawn Paul. I do not listen
to metal all the time, I also listen to classical, jazz (good stuff!), blues,
country (sometimes), Frank Sanatra, and traditional middle eastern music
so that makes a nu-metaller? So this makes me a mainstream fanatic?

I was just equating your idea that since you are from LA or where ever that you are metal because these bands come from there to the idea that since these old people live in Norway, and since like black metal basicly started there and some churches where burned, they are kvlt as fvuk black metallers. I guess that is to deep for you to understand.
Anyway, Exhumed, how could I forget them?
I know we should stay on subect but I can't help but point out how he was talking about how he knows all these underground bands then goes and talks about he bad internet connection and how he can't go looking for bands (yet that is his 'job').
I only have 56k, and I don't get MTV2. I know they have Headbanger's Ball on MTV2 because people lke you are always bragging about the 'newest, heaviest, underground band you saw on MTV2'.

whoever said Dillinger Escape plan was on the right track, there are some heavy hardcore bands. Just not in the "i'm gonna play me a real high gained guitar while my drummer blasts your balls with his double bass blast beats that he plays in every song" heavy.
Every Time I Die, Converge, Caliban, December, Norma Jean, Evergreen Terrace, A Jealousy Issue, all some good hardcore bands that are heavy in that hardcore way.
agrophic nosebleed are pretty heavy
and yes, i'd consider Lamb Of God a pretty heavy band, ESPECIALLY on their lastest CD.

Too many people have different opinions on what "heavy" is, I mean, personally
I think Dream Theater is "heavier" than some really blistering bands.....say like...in example (first band that came to mind) Emperor. I like Emperor, but to me, whatever touches me more is "heavier."
But....meh....who cares, you probably get the point.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed (in my opinion) isnt the heaviest, by BY FAR the fastest. Now if it not for there drummachine I think it might be a diffrent story. They said they are getting the drummer from Burnt by the Sun who is said to be extremly fast (even though it seems to lack on his records) but im looking forword to seeing that.

I could never get into Agoraphobic Nosebleed. I think Anal Cunt is much beter, faster, and heavier. Agoraphobic Nosebleed even stole teh whole idea of putting a bunch of songs on a small format for Anal Cunt. AxCx did it with the 6854 song e.p. where there really where that many songs. See they studio had a 16 track recorder. So tehy recorded a song on each track. So you are hearing 16 songs at once through teh whoplerecord. Well that is if you ever had the pleasure to hear it. The guitar player for Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Pigdestroyer(his name slips me) was in AxCx duringh the recording of "40 More Reasons To Hate Us" but only wrote and rcorded afew of teh songs. He also did a few shows. Anal Cunt is better.

Well, i think the whole deathmetal/goregrind sene is fucking heavy. such as:
-Cannibal Corpse.
-Severe Torture (very good band from holland)
-Dead Infection.
- Sikfuk.
But also some blackmetal is heavy:
-Enthroned.
-Marduk.
-Immortal.
-Burzum.
But i don't think that there's a band thats much better/heavyr than another. A band such as Immortal has very intense black metal (diabolical fullmoon mytsicim), but also less heavy (damned in black)

I don't know too many signed artists except Daddy Longlegs from Wolfpac and ex Blood Hound Gang. He's not what I would call a good musician but he's a cool guy.

I'm not into the heaviest of heavy but from what i've heard of it, Vader and Crytopsy seem to be pretty damn brutal without being stupidly heavy. I cant listen to grind or death for too long, i need some clear classic melody in there somewhere but i can see why people like it.
As for nu metal i've grown out of Korn but i like slipknots Iowa album. The first two were wank tho. Limp Bizkit are crap cos they wear socks on their heads .... LMFAO

i listen to doom metal radio sometimes (available via http://www.live365.com), and most of the bands they play are heavy in my opinion. not in the brutal type heavy, but just so slow and massive, it's like a wall of sound pours out of my little crappy desktop speakers hierophant, for example, how slow it is possible to play...so a lot of doom bands are heavy. i like my dying bride and old paradise lost.
but heavy and brutal, for me it'd be morbid angel, cannibal corpse, behemoth and bloodbath (as i look my record collection and winamp playlist). kinda typical answer i guess.
