She has some major eye strabism.
I'm quite concerned that the next album will be radically different, and most probably suck.

Is that Cryptopy or Bleeding Through?
Bitches always ruin bands. The only thing they should be playing is the skin flute.

Damn, you guys are really positive they're going to blow now because of some promo shot. Promo shots almost always look really fucking lame.
So they have a girl? Doesn't mean she'll be singing (and if she did, it doesn't mean it'd be gay). I'm very interested to hear how this will sound and it isn't like Once Was Not will be very hard to top. Will they ever be what they once were? Most likely not. It could be an interesting evolution though.

I highly doubt Cryptopsy will have clean vocals... where are you guys getting that from?

When they put out the ad looking for musicians, they requested a keyboardist/sampleist and someone who could do both clean and brutal vocals.
This certainly isn't the Cryptopsy I know, grew up with and love, but I'm not gonna say anything until I hear the new album.
But I sure wish Jon Levasseur and Lord Worm were still around, that'll never change. Jon was just fucking amazing.

Well yeah, I knew that. But it doesn't necessarily mean that there will be alot of clean vocals, hell, there may be no clean vocals at all! Maybe the band just wanted a versatile singer who would be singing brutal vocals most/all of the time, but had previous experience singing clean vocals. I dunno, the way I see it, someone who can sing clean and brutal probably has more experience than someone who can only sing brutal, right? He might not even be singing clean at all... I wouldn't worry about it too much. Even if there are clean vocals, the majority will still be dirty vocals. I HIGHLY doubt Cryptopsy would stray from the brutal music they have always given us the privelage of listening to

Although I never really enjoyed a lot of Cryptopsy. I don't know how well this could go over. It might go over well. Who knows the vocalist could be good and have a lot of variety. They said they still wanted to keep it brutal. As far as the chick goes. I think it's good. Could add a bit more variety. I dunno I'm probably the only one who is looking forward to it

I dunno maybe they just want to try something new. It could be after writting so much technical riffs and blasting drummer they are becoming board. Just a thought

You know how it is with promo pics...
Anyhow, let's just wait for the album and see what they make of it. I know Veritate wouldn't be what it is without Annicas keyboard riffs...

Come ON, you see a picture of a female KEYBOARDIST and start talking about Crytopsy and Nightwish in the same sentence.

why do you guys always look at evolution as a negative thing? If every album a band released sounded the exact same as the one before it, wouldn't that get a little fucking boring?

I don't think it's looking at evolution as a negative thing, it's just that having the feeling that a band is going to change leaves the possibility of it sucking. There is favorable evolution and there is unfavorable evolution, the latter being what is looked at as negative. And it seems like when bands sound pretty much the same as on the previous album(s), it is more or less viewed as a good thing because it's better than taking that "chance" of evolution and failing.

It's great when musicians evolve, but the promo pics and lack of lord worm/disalvio and their old guitarist definitely do not inspire much confidence that the next album will be any form of evolved Cryptopsy by any means, rather a completely different band.
But it's just a picture, no one can really assess how they're going to sound, but it does resemble promo pics of mediocre bands.

No, I don't know it which is why I'm not letting some picture influence what I think before I hear the material. I can understand the more pessimistic outlook being as Jon left an album ago and, for some of you, Worm leaving too (which in my opinion, judging from the last release, is a very good thing). But Jon has been gone and I know now what to expect without him so I'm not anxious about whether or not the replacement will live up to him or not like I was in the interval between ...And Then You'll Beg and Once Was Not. So why am I not being a fart stain? Because I was happy with the guitar work in OWN (which didn't) and I'm happy that Worm has been kicked out. Yes their promo pic looks like an advertisement in a gay newspaper for a 2 hour gang bang, but I also think that 95% of promotional pictures look fucking stupid. Hell, if I judged half of the metal bands I like off their promo pictures then I'd assume they were all lame. Point is, a lot of bands have bad pictures. Hell, look at Emperor's latest.
I'd rather have Cryptopsy evolve into something that I think sucks than to have them continusously trying to recreate a None So Vile or ...And Then You'll Beg. I fucking hate that.

good use of keyboard requires some taste ... and that's something cryptopsy have never had (see angelskingarden).
for every cool part they write, you know there is a flamboyantly lame one waiting right around the corner, ready to ruin your listening experience.

Damn, Cryptopsy with a clean vocalist and a chick, and a keyboardist? I really hope they don't aim for a mall/goth thing.

That was just plain bad. I too want proof if that is in fact Cryptopsy.

Listen to the drums, that shit is the only thing that sounds like Cryptopsy. The kick samples, the fills, and weird blasts... It's Cryptopsy.
They also wanted someone who can sing clean vocals, so there ya go. I thought this was a joke, but it's them.

Yes!
That can't be Cryptopsy. I didn't hear a keyboard but those drums did sound like a slowed down version of Flo.

And you can tell it's Eric playing bass.
This is actually making Once Was Not seem good.

Once Was Not was a great album. I don't know why people hated it so much. Carrionshine was a fucking sick ass song.

Oh shit.
It definately sounds like it could be Flo at least.
The vocals are really, really terrible. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that this isn't Cryptopsy. There are no keyboards on either of those tracks so maybe it's not all over.

The first song sounded nothing like Cryptopsy but by the time the second song rolled around I could tell in my gut from the guitars... it probably could most likely be Cryptopsy. Goddamit.

"Recently, a pair of tracks reportedly from the next album were leaked onto the internet and met with widespread derision from Cryptopsy's fanbase."
Something I found on Wikipedia. Apparently this is a worldwide panic.

Of course. This is even more disappointing to me than what Silverchair became... and THAT was disappointing!

lol yeah. The first two albums were fucking amazing... then it was just a big trainwreck. A few months ago I left the TV on MuchMusic (Our version of MTV) and saw a music video from their latest album. I wanted to reach through the screen and crush their windpipes.

Compared to the SMN forum, we're taking it quite well. They have a thread that's 13 pages long dedicated to how horrible those 2 songs sound.
Get on the ball people!

That's what I thought too... but the drumming does sound like Flo, and the guitars in the second song "feel" like the newer Cryptopsy riffs that Alex Auburn writes.
EDIT ::: According to the Cryptopsy website, its a definite yes.

Yeah, it sucks he quit extreme metal because he's needed badly right now. Hell of a guitar player.

Oh btw, that shit was taken from LA Metal. I used to watch that shit on public access until they cancelled the show.

Ha, me too! Pretty cool show. I remember staying up late every night when I was younger to watch it. Bummer it got canceled, but you can download all the episodes off their website.

You think that's bad take a look at the guestbook on their official site.
I've always hated the term "sellout", but this attempt is just too transparent to not label it so. I NEVER thought I'd say that about Cryptopsy.
