You're really splitting hairs here. The lyrics and make up 95% of the difference between the two. They shouldn't really be seperated.

I know what you're saying but no. Goregrind and Grindcore are very different apart from lyrics.

One of the reasons I could never get into grind stuff is because there are way too many subgenres for me to get Nazied on. Meh

Gronibard? Goregrind? Hmm. Their first album has the goregrind influences, but seriously.. haha. How.
Rompeprop and LDoH are gods. Dead Infection are a worthy mention.

It is quite funny.
Everything gets lumped some compound-word that refers to grinding or death or gore these days. And I don't see the point. They all seem to do the same stuff.
The only band I recognise to be goregrind are Rompeprop, because it's quite punky, as are the grindcore roots, and it has vocals that sound like some vile liquid bubbling.

listening to their really old demo shit, I would consider them goregrind but as far as the full length album days; total gore metal.

They probably just ripped it from a video, the net, etc.
That stuff really exists and people really do it. Amazing!

I have to some how find a link to this "Japanese Eel Porn" video I have. I have to show everyone when they come to my house, I laugh everytime.
Basically it's a girl with a funnel in her ass with about 30 live eels going into it. Then she shoots them out of her asshole. Hahaha

Would Regurgitate be considered Goregrind?
I think my faves are:
Carcass,
Dead Infection,
Haemorrhage,
Embalming Theater,
General Surgery,
The County Medical Examiners.
Rompeprop,
Cliteater,
Last Days Of Humanity,
Splattered Cadavers (My friend's band)
That Stoma cover is pretty nuts but I've seen worse. Both Torsofuck covers are tottally worse than that.

Rytmihario has a Goregrind sound but they don't really have the "gore" elements to their lyrics and whatnot. Saprogenic is AMAZING, just all around killer.
As far as the really sloppy and fast and out of control stuff, I remember liking Yoda's Eye and Carrion Crawler but I think I only have like, 2 songs from each of them.

I don't know. EDF isn't really bad at all and the split with Lymphatic Phlegm is just a photoshop image. The Stoma one is probably real.
Most insane cover I've ever seen was for a noise guy named Costes. I'll try to find a pic.
EDIT:
Here it is, I warn you it's pretty sick, but funny.

Mortician and Devourment are two of my favorite goregrind bands. I love how groovy they are. Just listen to "Zombie Apocalypse" by Mortician or "Serial Cocksucker" by Devourment. It's ironic that goregrind, one of the most brutal forms of metal, has some of the few metal bands that someone could theoretically dance to without accidentally killing themselves.

That's funny you say that because he's known as the GG Allin of France. He's been doing it just as long though so it's not really a rip off. His girlfriend used to be GG's also.

What the fuck? Why the hell do you think that? I know Mortician may not be pure goregrind, but they're somewhere between that and brutal death, and devourment definitaly are grind. And they both have a strong element of groove. So fuck off.

you sir, are wrong. both mortician and devourment are pure brutal death metal. goregrind uses clear, very simple riffs, lowpitched vocals and polka rhythms combined with blastbeats ofcourse.
this is pure goregrind: www.myspace.com/rompepropaganda

Hmm. I thought goregrind was music that took some elements of grindcore (simple repetitive riffs, short songs, an occasional element of groove, etc) with the overall tone and heaviness of death metal. Meanwhile, I thought brutal death metal was similar to goregrind, but extremely fast and technical (such as Disgorge or Suffocation). Also, both the bands I referenced do have (at least most of the time) the chugging-low register-palm muted-powerchord riffing style that is employed by most goregrind bands, so you can't deny that they are similar to goregrind. Maybe they fit in slam death metal?

Now you see why I was laughing? Mortician is drum machine fueled Death Metal and Devourment is the furthest from grind. They are Brootal Slam Death Metal. Or whatever they people call it.
Look at the lists on this thread and that's what goregrind is. Rompeprop, Regurgitate, Last Days Of Humanity, Dead Infection ect. Jeeze next you'll say Slayer is powermetal. As for the whole chugga chugga riffs? They are not grind. Grind riffs are simple punk riffs played extreemly fast or with lots of slidding.

Actually, I don't see why you were laughing. Both the bands I mentioned play extremely simple downtuned riffs that are extremely fast. They both share qualities that are extremely similiar to goregrind. Although I am not sure if either use pitchshifters, they both have very low, gutteral vocals that sound almost identical to goregrind. Also, keep in mind that I have only heard devourments latest album (the second version of Butcher The Weak), and I can not comment on the "goregrindness" of their earlier work.

Butcher The Weak is not Goregrind. The songs are far too long and have too many riffs to be considered goregrind. Just cause a band tunes their guitarist down low and have low vocals doesn't make them goregrind. Look at Lord Gore. Or hell look at all those wicked DooM bands like Coffins and Wormphlegm,
Like I sort of disagree with Rompeprop, Cock And Ball Torture and The Day Everything Became Nothing being called Goregrind. They are Groove Oriented Gore Metal. They rarley have any "grind" elements in their songs besides the occational blast beat and of course their pitch shifted vocals. But that's just me being picky. But I would consider Dead Infection to be the pureist goregrind band around. They are one of the founders of the genre.

That dude from creamface is pretty cool.
He takes pictures of himself giving girls facials for the album covers, and has his own perverted magazine he does.

I never said that Devourment are goregrind simply because of the low tuning and vocals, I was just giving another example of some of the qualities they have that are similiar to goregrind bands. I mainly believe they fit into the genre because of the riffing style, which is the very simple, super fast metal and punk influenced riffage that goregrind is known for. As for having to many riffs and being too long, well, maybe you're correct on that count. At least THAT was a mature argument, other then "HAHAHAH I laugh at you because you have no clue what you are talking about".

That's why they are called groovy-goregrind. It's the latest development in the genera (when I say latest, I mean with in the last 10 years.) Romp and CBT are technacally "porngrind" (fucking subgenras) and that's why they have that groovy-GUT sound to them.

Groovy gore seems to pretty much be pornogrind. Subgenres are confusing but I guess they make sence. Put dead infection and CBT together and it's very different

I consider them gore metal. Simple:
Gore grind + death metal = Gore Metal.

What? It says Death/Grind for Mortician and Brutal Death Metal for Devourment. Or were you being sarcastic?

I wasn't being sarcastic. Any difference between Gore Metal, Brutal Death Metal, and Deathgrind is way too small to make any substantial difference. Basicly, they're gore metal.

THANK YOU. Sub-subgenres are fucking retarded. I can take Brutal Death Metal, Old-School Death Metal, Technical Death Metal, and Modern Death Metal, but anything else is pointless. All DM bands fit under one of those catagories. Um... cataGORIES.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Well Impaled as well because Ross was in Exhumed for the Gore Metal era and then when they kicked him out he formed Impaled. Pure Metallica vs. Megadeth syndrome.
Plus Exhumed just broke up so I guess that leaves Impaled as the Gore Metal band now.

Look CC I am not trying to make fun of you or anything. It's obvious from your avatar you like good music. But subgenres have their reasons. As stupid as that sounds. Like if you were at a Rompeprop show and called them Brutal Death Metal someone would obviously correct you and make fun of you in the process. So I am just trying to help you understand the point of subgenres. Yes it is all Death Metal, Yes it is all Black Metal and yes it is all Grind. But if you compare Cannibal Corpse to Dismember they are tottally different. One is more melodical and of the swedish DM style and the other is more Brutal/Tech based. There are reasons for these. You can't say Devourment are a grindcore band because they sound nothing like and don't follow the rules of grind. However I don't blame you for making a simple mistake cause everyone eccept for a few people forgot what grindcore is. Bassically fast punk with harsh vocals and extreemly fast drumming. That's it. Listen to Repulsion or Napalm Death and you'll see what I mean. Grind these days is polluted with too much of a DM influence.
Anyway like I said I am not trying to bust your balls or anything I'm just trying to help. If you want to call Devo grind that's fine I just wanted to try and help you understand.

I understand your point, but you have to admit that there are strong similarities between brutal death and grind, as well as other genres. I am well aware of the need for some sub genres, but I believe around four is enough, then it starts to get pointless and confusing.
I can see where you're coming from with your arguments against me, and I realize there is a difference between old school grind bands like Repulsion and brutal DM bands such as Devourment. But one of the reasons I love extreme music is that the constant cross breeding between sub genres that keeps creativity alive. Because of this, it can be extremely difficult to categorize most bands. With grindcore especially, because grind is used in so many ways, that the word has lost some of it's meaning. There are many different definitions, which leads to even more confusion.
But my point is, it loses it's relevance, because for all practical purposes, sub genres such as brutal dm and grindcore can be interchanged, because the reason we have sub genres (and genres at all) is because we like to know ahead of time a basic idea of what a band plays. For this purpose, the bands that I called grind should be called grind, because they share enough musical properties with real grindcore bands that it makes logical sense to include them together. /rant.
The first two paragraphs are just rehashes of my old arguments. Concentrate your mental energies on the final one.
EDIT: By the way, has anyone noticed how many arguments I get into over the internet? If you've noticed my username in other forums, I've pissed off, debated, and fought with someone everywhere... At least I know what it's like to win in the special olympics.

Not at all (at least for me), to me the further you can analyze, the eaiser it can be to distinguish whether or not to buy a cd (I only download if I must). Sometimes I just don't have the money to spend on crap.
On the other hand it eliminates the element of suprise when you actually find a band that kicks ass, that you know nothing about.
In conclusion, don't let genra disputes confuse you, if you have any troubles just look it up.. after all, if you are reading this you have access to the internet, take one step further.
