Even Opeth, although you can't really hear it as much as the other two, with their release of Ghost Reveries, am I crazy or are they too also going in the metalcore direction?
I still like them all, but if they are really doing this, and they are doing it for the sole purpose of getting noticed, they've lost some of my respect (not that it matters).

Given that you mentioned Opeth, yes you are crazy.

Well maybe using Opeth's a little too much, but it just seems that their one song that was used in a video sounds closer to the metalcore that we hear by most bands.
But what about the other two bands I mentioned?

honestly i don't like daughters...i saw them play once and have heard a bit of their recorded stuff. hardcore music has spawned lots of bands trying to take it to crazy/random new levels and i htink these guys just went too far with it. i've heard people call a lot of the new shit "post hardcore" but i'm not into getting crazy with the labels so i just lump them with the hardcore group. also, the all the bands that played at that show were hardcore or metalcore (which i consider hardcore)

I know there was a topic previously about this band, but still, what's the deal with "Bullet For My Valentine"? They are alright, but nothing big.
They look like the rejects of A7X, Atreyu, and Eighteen Visions, in my opinion

I want to know some opinions on the song "To The Rats" by Trivium off their new album, The Crusade. I'd say even the most hardcore metalcore haters would at least like the main riff.

As I Lay Dying is ok, but they are nothing compared to Converge. Dunno about Dillinger (don't listen to them, but am going to), but Converge fucking kicks ass. I only have one of their albums, Jane Doe, and it is just so raw and heavy compared to alot of the metalcore bands out there like Unearth or faggy Trivium. I'm pretty new to the genre, but I do declare, Converge is one of the best metalcore bands alive.

I listened to 18V, and yeah. They suck balls. They look like hot topic cummed all over them. And their music makes my balls shrink. The singer sounds like the love child of Fred Durst and Dani Filth.

I was kind of disappointed with TTEOTD. They were alright, but all this talk about how "Malice" showed their evolution from deathcore to death metal or something on those lines..... yeah, no. It was an alright album, but it was like watching porn with your friends; total bummer.

MAX CAVALERA SEZ:
"I went to see LAMB OF GOD in that States and they were alright, but KILLSWITCH ENGAGE opened and it was the gayest show I've ever seen," says Max Cavalera. "I was like, I'm not part of this scene, it's fucking gay.' They were acting like they were U2 and I was like, 'Hmm….' The attitude was so ridiculous. I don't know these guys, they're on my label [Roadrunner] and all, but it was completely disappointing and gay. Like really lame, such a lame band live, everything about the whole attitude. LAMB OF GOD came out and destroyed them and I don't even like LAMB OF GOD that much, but they were so much better coming after KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. I was like, 'If that's what the scene is about, hey fuck it, it ain't got nothing to do with me."

PEZZOWNED. Yeah I never really liked Sepultura, but I just hope one of the Killswitch-dudes reads it. It'll be one less person to suck up to in interviews.
Actually, who are Killswitch Engage?

Max obviously doesn't get KsE. They don't give a fuck if they act like jackasses on stage and I respect them for that. There's too many bands who act too serious on stage when they should at least act like they're having some fun.

I retract this quote. The album has grown on me. I love it.
Max Cavalera is a dumbshit. I think Soulfly are catchy and everything, but in terms of quality, they suck. Nu-core garbage is what it is.

Malice is a good album. Too bad their drummer Josh quit, he was one of the main hightlights of the band.

If you like some metalcore you should check out bloodsimple:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiB9zcx07ZE
"Dead Man Walking"
very catchy song
I'm so fucking into LoG right now. And I'm waiting impatiently for All That Remains' new album 'Overcome'. I am also a fan of Protest the Hero, mainly because I think their lead singer is a fucking awesome vocalist. A lot of people on this forum are death metal fans and can't seem to appreciate any form of clean singing at all.
I can't believe I haven't read any bashing of Disturbed (I would be inclined to join in)

I can believe that Disturbed haven't been bashed in this thread, for the simple fact they aren't metalcore.

#1 - Protest the Hero are boring, not because of clean singing, but because they are just plain boring. To counter your next argument, its not because I 'dont like clean singing.'
#2 - Disturbed was, in fact, part of the whole 'nu metal' thing that happened around 2000... Giving them the benefit of the doubt because they really aren't THAT bad, they are hard rock.
metalcore = Martyr AD, Shai Hulud, 7 Angels 7 Plagues, Poison the Well, etc...

Yeah, i'll agree with you on that, they aren't THAT bad for hard radio rock. They at least had some uniqueness when they first hit the scene.

Yeah. They've gotten to a point of being so generic and the literal definition of "radio metal," but it could be much... MUCH worse.

Kind of, I listen to a lot of bands which in my ears can't distinct the genres of deathcore and metalcore. Bands I like which pertain to this confusion: August Burns Red, Catherine, I Killed the Prom Queen, Destroy the Runner and Haste the Day.

Shai Hulud with Geert was awesome!
I've been listening to Fear My Thoughts, Aclys, Deadlock and Dominator lately, I don't think they have ever made a name across the pond?

Damn haha. Guess I do enjoy metalcore, but all of those bands have melodic guitar playing. Especially Haste the Day, August Burns Red and Catherine.
Anyone heard the new Swedish melodeath/metalcore scene?
