Pig Destroyer
Discordance Axes (can't believe they haven't been mentioned in this entire thread!)
Circle of Dead Children
Napalm Death
Leng Tch'e
Sparkle Motion
Drop-Z
Cephalic Carnage
I don't want to hear shit from you purists about Cephalic. Although I'd most certainly agree that Cephalic's last two releases are not very grindy at all (with a few songs been an exception on Anamolies).
Fuck...I'm Dead seem to be mentioned a lot in here. What album should I check out?

I haven't heard that name in a while. Good stuff, but I think they disbanded.

Because it stinks here. No matter what state they are in, they can always smell New Jersey.

you would let them in with SARS? (and I mean, who is going on holiday with it anyway?)
and regarding to the smell: ain't industry and traffic and all that much worse in Japen than in the US (never been there though...)
anyway, they don't weare the masks here in Europe
but maybe we should take this to chit chat...

LOL! I saw them a wear ago with Insect Warfare, Line Up Your Lies, and SABU. They were fucking awesome, too bad their albums production doesn't do Unholy Grave justice.
As far as the masks go, they wear it as a precaution to prevent SARS from becoming air-bourne in a crowded venue.

Pig Destroyer's old stuff fucking killed. But for some odd reason people still consider them grindcore when all I can think of their stuff is that is kinda sounds metalcore-ish.
Anyone here into Lapidate (Death Metal/Goregrind hybrid band from Canada), Looking For An Answer (Death Metal/Thrash/Grindcore from Spain), and Epicrise (East-European Pornogrind)?
Also, anyone here have DESTROY's Discography album? If so, will anyone be kind enough to let me download it from you. I used to have this cd but that shit was cracked because of my dad's terrorist-ass hating Power Violence and Grind.

Taylor Bow 7"
if you can find it. Kind of a cross between Infest and Ildjarn.

Man, I discovered Insect Warfare's World Extermination about a month ago and I can honestly say everything about that album is awesome. My Ultimate Ears headphones make that bass drum feel like it's pounding my chest!

IxWx is actually really good. When I heard of them I figured they were going to suck for some reason. Man, was I ever wrong.
Try to grab "Noise Grind Power Death" from 625 Thrashcore (53 track, single sided LP) or the split with Agoraphobic Nosebleed (because both sides are great).

Insect Warfare are fucking awesome.
When it comes to grind I like it old school: crusty, punky and (usually) sloppy, not too keen on death/gore based grind stuff (with a couple exceptions, especially in the case of Carcass clone bands).
My favourites are old Napalm, Brutal Truth, Nasum, Phobia, Rotten Sound, Terrorizer, Assuck, Repulsion, Jigsore Terror, Lock Up, Pig Destroyer, Regurgitate, Extreme Noise Terror, Doom, and the aforementioned Carcass-esque stuff like Haemorrhage, General Surgery, County Medical Examiners etc.

Remember the awesomeness of Insect Warfare? Still crying yourself to sleep at night following their demise? Then all gather round and be despondent no more, for Wormrot are here to grind you to the grave.
Abuse is one of the most exciting records I've heard since, well, World Extermination and I recommend that anybody with even only a passing interest in grindcore give these Singaporeans a whirl.

Wormrot is pretty cool, but, along with Insect Warfare, there isn't any too special or significant about it for me. They both serve their purpose well, however. If these guys had been around 4 or 5 years ago, I would have been in heaven.

Grind?
Carcass, Napalm Death and Insect Warfare all the way. Exhumed were pretty cool too but I won`t classify this as Grind

Check out their back catalogue, too. At War With Grindcore and Endless Execution through Violent Restitution fucking rage. Fucking rules, drummer from PLF plays as well.
But on this subject I would also recommend Excruciating Terror.

Discordance Axis is amazing. They're definitely up there with bands like Assuck, Nasum, and Brutal Truth. The Inalienable Dreamless is so damn good. Jouhou as well. Too bad they split up.

Yay for DA! I have not heard Gridlink - worth checking out?
I've never heard Assuck.
EDIT: Checking out Gridlink's Orphan right now and it is fucking awesome. Thanks for the rec!

I've not actually heard Orphan yet, I just knew that Gridlink was Jon Chang's new band. I read somewhere that Orphan was only 12 minutes long - I'm not paying £12.99 for 12 minutes!!

It is only 12 minutes long, but its worth every second. I haven't bought it yet (downloaded it first) but after listening once I'm going to grab it. I'm sure you can find it cheaper than that!

Sweet. I think "Scopedog" is my favorite track. The entire album is fucking caustic and Jon's screaming is seriously maniacal. It has a very Pig Destroyer flavor. Speaking of PD, what the fuck have they been up to? They've got to be due for an album soon. I'd kill to see them live again.
By the way, I think this is like the 10th time I've seen Anthems as your album of the day. This is right.

Ha, Anthems is one of my "go to" albums when I don't really have a craving for a specific album or band. Its awesomeness pervades
The next PD album is very hotly anticipated but the most I can find is that they're currently in the writing process. Late 2011 or early 2012 would be my guess.

Aw yeah, I'm with you. Unfortunately I can't really get into any Emperor after Anthems. Its not bad by no means, it just doesn't grab me at all like the first two releases.

I love IX Equilibrium, but I can't get into Prometheus.
Spun Wormrot's new record, Dirge, the other day. It's as feral as I expected! Thank Darwin for Wormrot; they're the only band filling a massive Insect Warfare-shaped hole in my musical heart.

I'm with you on this one. There are a few later songs I like off of equilibrium and Prometheus like that song where he's all like "iiiiiiicaruuuuuus I daaaaaaaare youuuuuuu" and the other one where he's all " and after years in dark dungeons... They came to silence......................... der was nawfing." plus the cool piano intro. As a whole though, both albums are pretty boring and repetitive.

Hahaha! Sometimes when I hear someone say the word "nothing" I have to say under my breath "der was nawfing" because it sounds so fucking hilarious and cracks me up every time. Norwegian accents don't really sound like that so I don't understand why Ihsahn does. Maybe its only when they whisper things or talk to children.
But yes, I think Prometheus and Equilibrium both lack that awesome magic atmosphere that prevails through Anthems and Nightside. I respect that they're not just trying to reproduce those two albums, though, as I think that'd be worse. Who wants to hear the same story over and over as it becomes less epic every time?

Their first album Abuse is pretty mega too.
And, Cunty, yep; at the moment they're pretty much the standard bearers for grind, at least in my eyes.

Haven't heard it yet, but I just have to say again that the new Gridlink has been melting my fucking face off over the last week. I love it. Its been part of my morning routine. Grindcore and coffee! I also really enjoy the recording quality. It isn't compressed to hell, isn't trigger-happy, and all the instruments are mixed very well.

Just checked out Worthless, the new album from Weekend Nachos. Despite the ridiculous name, there's some pretty decent grindy-powerviolence going on.

Gridlink is great. Good to see members of Discordance Axis working again.
Weekend Nachos is one of the worst names ever. They are Chicago guys so I see them every so often. Always good live.
