Don't pass up on Cynic! You'll love them if you're into Atheist man.

Decrepit Birth
Putrid Pile
Resurrection
Spawn of Possession
Belphegor
Forest of Impaled
Deeds of Flesh
BTW, how could you consider Annhilation of the Wicked slow? Based on what comparison?

No doubt there are some slow sections on the album, but they've always mixed these types of sounds with blazing speed.

Here's 10 Death Metal bands that are simply amazing. Some are really obvious choices...
(I wrote little descriptions because it's 5.30am and I'm very awake and very bored.)
Anata - Complete mayhem, polyrhythmic counter melodies and some unforgetable melodies.
Cannibal Corpse - Pioneers of the genre, fast riffs, gutterals and blast beats galore. A death metal 101.
Suffocation - Imagine a more technical and progressive Cannibal Corpse. A bit jazzy in places.
Nile - Egyptian themed death metal. Harder to get into than the others but its the most brutal music I've personally heard.
Carcass - The band that makes me proud to be British. Early stuff is pure grind tuned down to B almost incomprehensible. Later stuff is more catchy and song-based rather than riff based.
Decapitated - One of the first DM bands I got into. Flawlessly executed solos and drum fills that still to this day amaze and inspire me.
Necrophagist - These seem to be the band of the minute especially here at MTabs. Impossible riffs and sweep picking with really clean production.
AAkercocke - Not strictly DM but they are amazing. Some death in there, some black and clean singing too.
Repulsion - This band got the ball rolling as far as grindcore is concerned. Pure energy. Imagine a Slayer with 2 minute songs and raspy vocals. Impossible to listen to without feeling nostalgic about metal.
Meshuggah - Again not strictly DM but the rhythms in the bass drums have to be heard to believe. Very complex music.
