merci pour les suggestions
y me reste plus qu'a trouver du temps libre pour pratiquer (mes cours de programmation prennent beaucoup de travail a la maison :/
now if only my amp didnt sound so bad, itd be more encourageing to play:P
you know...i try playing some martyr and end up just saying Fuck it cause the sound sucks so bad(virtual emotions anyone? *grin*)

after playing a little longer than usual today ive come to the conclusion that i fucking suck at guitar(yep, took me 2 hours to figure that out)
no speed at all...no accuracy...unability to do hammer-ons that actually do sound after the 12th fret...god i might as well get a fucking teacher this isnt getting anywhere and ive had my guitar for almost a year *sigh*
on top of that theres college thats starting again tomorrow so thats 3/4 of my free time gone again which means less time to try to practice(even though practice usually leads to just doing random crap that makes no musical sense whatsoever and that sounds erm like crap)
come to think of it, i cant afford a teacher, mister college's draining my cash, so thats a no....guess im fucked, yay

What's even more interesting, is that it took you a whole year to realize that in 2 hours that you sucked badly at guitar!! Haha.
No, I'm sure if you keep "practicing", then one day you notice improvement. Not everyone is muscially talented/gifted. Heaven forbid, most of us aren't born with that talent... Anyways, you could always join band at college(if they have one) and try to get some free "guitar" lessons.
When in doubt of guitar ability, play super easy song, makes you feel better(usually). Hehe. Either that quit because other people want to join bands too.

i dont wanna join a band hehe:P
well playing some martyr at -100% speed cheered me up a bit...gonna ask dave tomorrow if i could leech some lessons off him or just jam or something....i wish my guitar could fit in my locker hehe

main choices for now are...
Virtual Emotions and Warp Zone by Martyr(may god have mercy on me for this one;P
Death - Pull The Plug (id have to tab it by myself as i play it though cause theres no decent tabs for it, not a prob i have ears)
Racer-X - Technical Difficulties
think ill start with the hardest...hrm....virtual emotions ;O
gotta love that xmms plugin that slows songs down, life saver

seriousely, forget Martyr...i tried Warp Zone a while ago, and that was kinda hard, play easier stuff!!

actually it isnt going that bad =p
only one little quirk in Virtual emotions:
--------------------------------------------------------
-------13----------------------------------------------
--------9-----------------------------------------------
--------7-----------------------------------------------
--------0-----------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
what the fuck...fingers cant reach hehe:P
guess ill just switch the 13 to 8 on higher string...god, dan has abnomarlly long fingers hehe
edit: ah ok seems like i can do it, but i have to stretch a bit

strech your finger or play that variation
--------8----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
--------9-----------------------------------------------
--------7-----------------------------------------------
--------0-----------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
the 8 on the E string is the same as 13 on the B string ( its a C, ou DO si tu préfere)

most thrash metal is good for rythem like Anthrax and all...but an awsome rock band that really works timing and all is System of a Down...their stuff isnt hard to learn but it requires good timing and rhythem for a good sound

Hey stupid, if you havent noticed system fo a down is a band that makes money from a record deal that you probably wont ever get...they have to be good to get that so leave your comments to yourself. They are a good band iand i like them, and if you want to know a good band for rhythm then they are one of them. you need good timing to get a sound that resembles their music

The way I see it, all "metal" is pretty easy to play. From Six Feet Under to Dark Tranquillity, its all easy . Just try to learn the songs that you like. The easier songs are more fun to play because they're more relaxing. Too much technical shit gets kinda boring.

all metal easy??
Children of Bodom, yngwie stuffs, death, quo vadis, martyr etc...
I really dont think ALL metal is easy....Tremolo picking is hard to master (in begining) so fast songs are hard. fast solos's too. If you think its easy, I want you to help me!!!
others easy song: dimmu borgir - metal heart. the whole thing is super easy

Ehm..... I'm obviously missing something about tremolo picking, as I think it's easy as f*ck.
I'm not good enough to play more than 5o% of the Iced Earth solos, but trem picking is easy, at least if I'm right about what trem picking is. I find it MUCH harder to do fast controlled rhytmic picking like most Iced Earth rhythm parts.

To warm up i use the main riff from Cryptopsy's "Phobophile" because it is pretty fast and makes use of the E, A , and D strings. For some different picking styles (palm muting and triplets) I jam out some old Exhorder, like "Slaughter In The Vatican." And to warm up my fretting hand for rythm purposes, I play the beginning of "serpent headed mask" by nile. That one was a bitch to figure out. hehe

actually (i'll probably be the only one) i agree with ya. i like their music too. i just cant stand their followers. i must say though their first album was WAY better than toxicity. i haven't really heard steal this album yet, but i probably have all the songs on that album downloaded on my computer. and uh.. daron malakian is a schitzo on stage

that song is easy. the trick to rhythm is to feel the pace/beat before hand. then go at it by yourself. playing along exactly to the song is harder but then again its pointless

You should also try the intro to answers by Steve Vai... damned near impossible to hit rhythmically (the chords are a breeze).
Also Dokken's Mr. Scary for alternate picking and solidity.

Actually, you've just described tremelo picking. Tremelo isn't just picking as fast as you can, you still must pick to a beat. That's exactly what tremelo is, very fast rhythmic picking, not "I'm out of control, I don't know how many notes I just picked" picking. To master it, get a metronome and learn how to use it. It's definitely not "easy as fuck". Especially when you're tremelo picking solos.

When I first started playing, all I really played was sludge and doom and stoner type stuff which mainly revolves around the blues scale and power chords. All that's fine and good but it gets really old after a while. And after you play it all the time you kind of get restricted, especially when you launch into an improvised solo and it always ends up revolving around the blues scale no matter what you do. So a friend of mine told me what he did. He started learning Death songs, starting with SBG and working his way to SOP. I've worked my way to Individual Thought Patterns and I can't tell you the difference it's made. I've learned too many unorthodoxed techniques to even list, from jazz fusion patterns to odd tempo thrash. I don't believe Chuck has ever been given the amount of credit he deserves for advancing death metal as an artform, no matter what anyone says. That doesn't mean to go out on stage and ape every Death riff into a song of your own, but I can almost guarantee it will open a lot of doors for you to develop your own technical style. Give it a try, start slowly and use a metronome to improve your accuracy and speed until you get it down pat.

keep in mind, if this kid is requesting easy songs, he is also probably a beginner. trem picking is really dificult for beginners. also, i never expected the solo, and the various other solo-sounding licks to be easy

Six Feet Under songs are usually always easy...like Sick and Twisted, One Bullet Left, Lycanthropy(I think thats the easiest!), Torture Killer, Bonesaw, and all those other ones.
The solos arent always easy though.

What I meant by "fast controlled rhytmic picking" is stuff like
D|-------------------799-------
A|--------7-9------------8---7-
E|0-000------01-000----------------
which involves stopping your picking hand, and moving it over different strings. Just hitting evenly spaced notes isn't difficult (unless you have to change frets/strings often) (stuff like Dimmu Borigr - Mourning Palace isn't difficult).

A lot of Judas Priest songs are very easy. For example Steeler, Grinder, Breaking the Law, You've
Got Another Thing Comin', Riding on the Wind, Metal Gods, Green Manalishi, Running Wild. Danzig's Mother is also very easy, Anthrax's Metal Thrashing Mad and Lone Justice, Black Sabbath's Paranoid. The Iron Maiden song Flight of Icarus is supposed to be easy, but I never learned it. Since you're obviously a beginner I'm guessing you can'tpick really fast.
Once you learn how to pick really fast, you can definitely nail these songs:
Kreator- Bone Breaker, Tormentor, Endless Pain (These songs are on their first album Endless Pain
& if you're new to Kreator I would recommend buying Terrible Certainty before buying Endless Pain)
Slayer- Reborn
Whiplash- Last Man Alive (very fun to play), Respect the Dead
Overkill- In Union We Stand
Destruction- Tormentor
Metal Church- Metal Church, Ton of Bricks, Flee From Reality
I have tabs for most of these songs just go to my profile and click where it says search for all posts
by this user, but a few of these songs I learned from other people's tabs back when I sucked at
playing by ear. I hope this helps.

Another song that is prety easy is "Lethe" by "Dark Tranquility," and "Damage Done" by "Dark Tranquility." They are bad song's and easy to play. Some "In Flames" stuff is pretty easy to play also. Hail!!!

haha me too man....i think it's not worth learning a whole song if you don't really
have a band to play with. so i learn the riff i like and that's it.
the only "complete" songs i know are acoustic.
Tears in the rain - Joe Satriani
Is there anybody out there - Pink Floyd
Desolate way - Morbid Angel
