That's one of my favs at the present time as well. I've also been jamming on
Ozzy: Crazy Babies
lately. It's a simple and fun one to play.

Well, since i've just recently discovered Death tabs....i'd say playing some of their songs is what i like best right now.
Some of my all time favorites are by
Slayer: Seasons in the Abyss, Raining Blood
....and also
Carcass: This Mortal Coil

some of my favs to play are
pantera:
throes of rejection,
floods,
the sleep,
slaughtered,
fucking hostile,
this love,
art of shredding,
cemetary gates,
hellbound.
slayer:
Seasons in the Abyss,
dead skin mask,
disciple,
raining blood,
angel of death.
morbid angel:
summoning redemption,
blasphemy,
nothing is not,
at one with nothing,
opening of the gates,
god of the forsaken.
and
dying fetus: kill your mother, and rape your dog

ICED EARTH - I died for you. The song is just so catchy. I love to play and sing to it, first acoustic, then rock out when it gets heavy. Its lots of fun, but other than that my favorite songs to play are my solos.

"Everything you need is around you.
The only danger is inside you."
Poem #20
I can write the saddest poem of all, tonight.
Write, for instance: "The night is full of stars,
and the stars, blue, shiver in the distance."
The night wind whirls in the sky and sings.
I can write the saddest poem of all tonight.
I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.
On nights like this, I held her in my arms.
I kissed her so many times under the infinite sky.
She loved me, sometimes I loved her.
How could I not have loved her large still eyes?
I can write the saddest poem of all tonight.
To think I don't have her. To feel that I've lost her.
To hear the immense night, more immense without her.
And the poem falls to the soul as dew to grass.
What does it matter that my love couldn't keep her.
The night is full of stars and she is not with me.
That's all. Far away, someone sings. Far away.
My soul is lost without her.
As if to bring her near, my eyes search for her.
My heart searches for her and she is not with me.
The same night that whitens the same trees.
We, we who were, we are the same no longer.
I no longer love her, true, but how much I loved her.
My voice searched the wind to touch her ear.
Someone else's. She will be someone else's. As she once
belonged to my kisses.
Her voice, her light body. Her infinite eyes.
I no longer love her, true, but perhaps I love her.
Love is so short and oblivion so long.
Because on nights like this I held her in my arms,
my soul is lost without her.
Although this may be the last pain she causes me,
and this may be the last poem I write for her.

For the color dancers were pulsing, spinning, making liquid cartoons. Not really animations, but clear shades of color, forming a toy playground. They made this delight of breathing easy. All the playground objects were alive, including the swings and the merry-go-round. A silvery-blue arch of plastic color formed and collapsed in the center. A toy little boy, or maybe she was a little girl, jumped along this object, sliding down it, hanging on with small fingers, leaping into the grass. I felt a sense of responsibility begin to resonate within me, both for the knowledge of my wife and my coming child, and the deep psychedelic responsibility of my shamanic-like path. I glanced away briefly and one of the DMT beings, tall, thin and golem-like, grasped my head and turned it back to see. The shapes kept moving, and the child was my innocence too, and it was asking me to promise to share that innocence completely with our shinebelly baby when she/he births and grows and becomes human.

I have less than a year's experience, so I still suck. . .
I can't play the solos, but Opeth's "Black Rose Immortal" is fun, in part because it's so freaking long. I LOVE long songs. . .the 'high' part about two minutes in is my favorite part.
I also like to play assorted riffs from The Haunted, Nevermore, Arch Enemy, Blind Guardian, and whatever else I can that isn't just power chords.

In Flames-Anything off of Whoracle... and a few from Jester
Fear Factory-Securitron, Replica, Smasher/Devourer
Strapping Young Lad- All Hail The New Flesh (AMAZING SONG)
I found that as soon as I played Fear Factory songs my picking ability increased greatly...and then when figuring out In Flames (the tabs here are mainly wrong btw) my fingering became far more fluid and relaxed. After that Carcass was a lot easier to pull off hehe

ozzy? well, the intro is excellent, and it was pretty tough at first too, then the main riff has tremolo picking w/ palm muting plus chords, so its a fairly good learning song

So I don't know if It'll be worth it to go, it's really hard for me to find good stuff, and I've been to the 'platenbeurs' before, I only bought 6 cd's or something.
maybe I'll go and I'll tackle you, okay? you must be really easy to recognize with that cast around your arm HEHHEHHEHE

Easiest song ever: Manowar - The sting of the bumblebee (the bass stuff)
Seriously though, Iced Earth stuff is pretty easy, like Damien, Wolf (intro), some parts of The phantom opera ghost. I've only heard Horror Show stuff, but I think most other stuff would be easy too.

And I'm not beeing harsh about guitar lessons, ofcourse you can play guitar without lessons, but when you reach a certain level you won't progress anymore, if you take lessons the progression will go faster and you won't get stuck AND you'll learn your theory and techniques.
and about easy songs sucking, they do, who the fuck wants to play nirvana or offspring anyway.

?!
im totally self taught, been playing one and a half years and without bein big headed i seem to know a lot more than those who have been taught in my local area... they say their teachers often limit them but i dont know, most is down to the actual effort YOU put in
i know scales, theory, songs, have good technique etc, and ive never learnt a nirvana or pop punk song
but yeah id get lessons to develop my techniques

yeah, okay but it does depends on what kinda teacher you've got, here in holland we've got special music school teachers, if you've got lessons at an music school, you'll get quality lessons, all those teacher play at E level.
highes you can reach thru lessons is D and then music college, that takes you about 6 years to reach D level.
I'm a C level myself, after 3 years so I'm a fast learner, but I did play 2 years without lessons before that, after 2 years I was pretty much getting bored, then I started to play all kinda styles of music, from jazz to samba from reggea to ska.

I was self taught for 6 years and didn't go anywhere.. because I just played the same shit over and over.. I got really good at the crap that I knew.. but I didnt' get any better.. Well I guess in a way I did.. I was about average .. Then about what 4 weeks ago I started taking lessons. And within the time i've started until now i've had 3 double time lessons because i'm moving and I already knew most of the theory stuff and i wasn't a beginner.. and i'm 300 times better than I was... All I needed was someone to point me in a direction and help me through the bumps . My technique is by far better.. My speed has almost tripled. It's amazing what a experienced guitar player can do for you if they sit you down and explain things.. That's my $.02

He's right, Ozzy stuff will help you out, also what I did to learn to start palying faster and better is i played the solos to metallica liek the song one or the solo part on nothing else matters and at first it sounded horrible, but I played it everyday and at first i thought i would never get it so I just practiced and now Im pretty good at them. Iremmeebr how veryone was liek o practice will help just keep practicing and I didnbt htink it would do anyhting I would get pissed and just be liek i odnt think practicing will do shit but i guess it does work. Just stick with it. Hail!! and good luck!!

Yeah, the "Nothing Else Matters" song from "Metallica" is kind of hard when you first start out playing guitar but after a while you will get the hang of it. Or just do exersices liek go on 1st fret with first finger, second fret second finger, 3rd then 4th then go back to 3 2 1 and keep doing that with your 4 fingers and after a while it will get to to go fast and get the feel of things liek accuracy. (*thats what I did) It helped me out. Good Luck. Hail!!!!

i dont know if anyone said this already because i skipped to the last reply but most (almost all) of the beginning of metallica songs are very easy. like the first classical parts of the like battery is easy, unforgiven, Nothing else matters. God i love those beginnings. depending on what skill lvl ur at u could skip to something like ...and justice for all.

good songs for rhythm practice?
just wondering if you guys have any suggestions for songs thatd help practicing on rhythm and complicated beats...
suicide nation by at the gates helped a bit for getting the correct approach to that kind of stuff but id like some other ones
(some iced earth maybe? dunno which one though)
i dont mind if its hard to play, actually, id love it
(i need practice on that...been playing around the higher frets too much and forgot my guitar actually has frets under 15 :P

You could try the others at the gates songs from Slaughter of the soul
if not allready done
Playing soilwork, Cynic, Atheist, Cryptopsy... should help too
Just what kind of rhythm are you looking for?
trash, death...

Try out Meshuggah! They surely have advanced rythmes and polyrythms. That will be a challenge for sure!

try some Iced earth, almost all songs are great to play. Demons & wizards songs too(its Jon Schaffer, the rythm guitarist of iced earth....)
try Mute Requiem by Quo Vadis, it's easy
Play songs you like!!!

Si tu veux vraiment progresser fais des exercices en essayant toutes les combinaisons de rythme possible en commençant par la noire puis la croche la double ...ect
c chiant mais utile tu peux aussi y incorporer des gammes pour faire travailler l'autre main.
ps for those who don't undestand it's in french it was easier for me to do it this way
Even if you're not a big fan of slaughter try to work out
the 2nd riff from slaughter and the the song unto other
some Kreator songs would get the job done too

Yé! un autre qui parle francais dans quelle ville tu reste Lord Arioch??
like he said, practice all rythms you can with 4ths 8ths, 16ths on one chord or note, then play with with left hand
I know Freezer understand what Arioch said, but for the others...
