some really cool bass lines:
Suicidal tendencies on the album friends & family
downset almost everything
(from memory cause I can't find my cds right now)
and of course Atheist and Misanthrope
but I assume that you knew it already
otherwise you're not a bass player

Primus - "Spegetti Western" has by far the best bassline ever.

The bass part at the end of the intro section in Cosmic Sea (by Death) where the fretless introduces the second "half" of the song.

Anesthesia by metallica definately is the best bass riff. i need to give props though.
in the words of tattered "its just it gets harder when the drums enter, on the last part of the solo..but through pain and agony im gonna finish it no-matter what" you are f*ckin awesome if u can play Anesthesia all the way through. i just started tryin today, and i can play all the individual parts, but it is really hard to do all together. and you definately need a metronome to play it.

Alot of the bass riffs on Steve Vai's Freak Show Excess, and alot of Atheist riffs- especially the peaceful bass interlude on their song Mother Man (with the birds in the background) and Cryptopsy's Orgiastic Disembowelment

Any bass riffs by Rocco prestia (band: Tower of power) is funky and pretty challenging in a way..
