Cryptopsy - the Benedictine Cunvultions inhaling scream,
Cryptopsy - on White Worms on None so Live, the one where origionally it sounds like Mike says "meeeeooooowww!" but Martin does it awsome
Pantera - Fucking Hostile, the last time he says it, and the amps screatch
Pantera - This Love when he says "YOU TAKE THIS LOVE!"
Iron Maiden - Killers, when he yells "Killlerrrrsssss!!! runnin loose"
I LOVE SRCEAMING, ALMOST AS MUCH AS I LOVE CAPS LOCK!!!! IT MAKES ME LOOK LOUD!!!

Cradle of Filth - All hope in eclipse. Just after the big 'eerie' piano break in the middle, i always loved that part.
COF 5ux0rz btw.
Opeth - The moor. When he first begins singing after the first electric riff, theres a cool intro scream thing.
Cryptopsy - Open face surgery. Theres a 27 second scream near the end

Mikael Åkerfeldt i think has the best death growl because it's pretty brutal and like one guy said pretty defined too, you can actually make out what hes saying.

Obviously Lord Worm's inhaled screeches are awesome, and Martin Lacroix (sp?) does a pretty awesome scream at the end of Defenestration on None So Live. I love Jeff Walker's absurd intro Taz impression on Ruptured In Purulence, and although it's a bit weak on the record, Corpsegrinder does the intro to Perverse Suffering infinitely better live.
As for worst, i'll go with the godawful wail on Hollowman by Entombed, and Chris Barnes' screams on The Pickaxe Murders.

For screams:
Tough call. Probably Jay from Fuck...I'm Dead. I have no clue what the hell he is saying. His vocals are so intense when he screams. He's like a rabid boar. In a funny story some Screamo kid said "Man your music sucks. My vocalists, including myself, can do all the stuff your guys can do." I said Ok try this and put on Fuck...I'm Dead. The kid tried to do it and lost his voice!! LOL His shitty screamo band had to cancel their show the next night! LOL
For Growls:
Gurge from Lord Gore-I mean come on. No other vocalist can do what he does. It sounds like his throat is tearing apart. He also refuses to use pitch shifters. The most effects he used was when he planted his face in a bowl of chowder and sang in the songs "The Autophogus: The Last Supper" and "Liquid Lunch". So it was all bubbley and warped. LOL His lows are extreemly low and when he does his tradmark inward growl he sounds like he has two voices in two different pitches and almost sounds like a pig being raped. LOL The dude is deffinatly part ogre. He also does guitars/vocals in Frightmare (he's called Grisly Adams in there). He is probably one of my top five favourite vocalists.

Can anybody give advice on how to pull off the corpse grinder style mids? I got gutterals down, better than most bands I hear, pig grunting and squeals, and the regular totm sort, as well as inhaled screams and mids (like blasphemy made flesh). I want to be able to pull off the new cc style shit though, not the highs, just his regular vox, is their a trick to how he does it?

I think everybody forgot the meaning of this thread, they mean growls/screams not growlers/screamers. Like screams in songs specifically, not who'se doing them. For example-
Cryptopsy- Crown of Horns- First scream in the song.

Well, the topic said worst too. I may be alone in saying this, but Anselmo's growl-ish type shrieky scream, or whatever the fuck it is, in Pantera's Domination is annoying. It's at the end of the pre-chorus or chorus or something (it's hard to tell which parts are which sometimes). I'm not sure of the lyrics but it sounds like "before". You'll know it when you hear it. It's not his style at all. Whatever it is he's trying to do, he can't pull it off.

Nile - Execration Text - When Karl Sanders growls "I threaten thee with the second death" in the first verse. He sounds like such a fucking foghorn. It's awesome.
And maybe not the worst, but my least favorite growl is the first verse in disfigured by Cannibal Corpse. Great band, great growler, but I dunno what the fuck happened to him there. He just sounds like he's breathing really hard, not really growling.

i totally agree. they both have such a terrific range they can range from a ridiculously high scream to a guttural abyssal growl. but personally i prefer mikes coz it has a more expressive tone to it instead just being in either scream mode or growl mode lol. but listen to jason's amazingness in Becoming The Adversary, especially one amazing scream at about 2:40 in.
and yet both of them have great singing voices too!
and if anyones heard katatonias first full-length album "Dance of December Souls", the vocalist Jonas used to have an amazing emotional, tortured black metal scream to accompany the mournful music. nowadays he has a nice singing voice and leaves the screaming to the guitarist lol. my fave is the opening scream in "Without God".
