Dammit cuntbreath...I only did that for the majority of the players here...I'm sure not everyone has a seven string you know....besides..I don't pat (or jack) used their sevens that much when they recorded that album.

Spheres of Madness is one of the first DM songs I ever tried learning. I have it down and up to speed now, same with "Babylon's Pride". The chorus riff is fun though it took me a while to do it right, and totally love the 2nd interlude too.

I haven't even looked at the tabs for Babylon's Pride, I've been thinking about conquering Names next. Your right about that chorus riff, but I still have some problems with stopping the E string from ringing out when I've moved down to D and G strings.

Monstrosity - A casket for the soul (lacking the solo, I am such a shitty lead-player)

the only thing on spheres i cant get to sound clean as the rest of the album is the hammer in parts. I dont have a problem doing it, making it sound like the album is hard.

I had trouble with that when I first started to learn it. I had a bad habit of doing hammer-ons and pull-offs in quick bursts instead of evenly spaced like on the album. I still find myself doing it every once and a while.

Huh? I only use the 6th and 5th string for the chorus riff. I also palm mute it, so you might want to try that. Doing something like a legato also helps, but it's not the right way to play it.

Code:

|---------------------------------|--------------------------------|
|---------------------------------|--------------------------------|
|---------------------------------|----------------6h9p6---6-------|
|---------------------------------|-5h8p5---5------------8---8p5h8-|

I recently learned to play spheres too. Although all the tabs I looked at sounded wrong, so I tabbed it myself and submitted it.
I find if you're having trouble learning a part or figuring it out, then listening to it through earphones really helps.

That song is so damned fun to play, I'm currently trying to learn how to sing and play the song at the same time.

I just learned it today and I just kept fucking playing it for seriously like 3 hours straight. I have it down pretty damn good for just playing it for a day, especially the solo. I just have trouble playing the part of the solo near the end cuz my hands are kinda small and it's a hard reach. I'm gonna try Holy Wars next.

Nothing new here. I finally dropped my tuning to C and I've been coming up with some riffs. Maybe I'll learn some Suffo and In Flames now that I'm this low, then maybe I'll drop it some more for some random songs.

Immortal - "Tyrants" and "Where Dark and Light Don't Differ".
Terrorizer - Corporation Pull
Kreator - Flag of Hate, Violent Revolution.
Destruction - Total Desaster
Napalm Death/Dead Kennedys: Nazi Punks, Fuck Off.
Napalm Death - Suffer the Children.
Vader - Black to the Blind, The Final Massacre, Kingdom.
Amon Amarth - Death in Fire. Most of "Fate of Norns" title track... by myself.
Behemoth - All parts to "Conquer All", got most of the solo down. Many parts from "Slaves Shall Serve", I may try to tab this.

Necrophagist - Foul Body Autopsy (not solo, my sweeping isnt good enough)
Took me two months to get it smooth and up to full speed, but I'm much better for it!
Can anyone recommend another necrophagist song thet isnt too hard (for a necrophagist song)? I was thinking of taking on mutilate the stillborn next, but I think it might be a bit sweepy for me...

Recently Conquered?
Frantic Disembowelment, for seven string.
AND HOLY SHIT.
I've learned how to hold the pick correctly.
Here's how I was holding it :
http://www.elementdeath.com/pick10.JPG < --- ( not my hand )
And of course, now I'm holding it the way I should. I'm going to have to learn how to sweep all over again with it , but I'm much, much more dextrous already, holding it the correct way. Playing is much cleaner and faster ... my trem picking from string to string is about 30 bpm faster, and squeaky clean ... harmonics are easier ... abstract movements are easier ... Shit. Why did'nt I start playing that way ?

AND HOLY SHIT.
I've learned how to hold the pick correctly.
Here's how I was holding it :

And of course, now I'm holding it the way I should. I'm going to have to learn how to sweep all over again with it , but I'm much, much more dextrous already, holding it the correct way. the point of the pick should point to the guitar when you hold your hand in a natural position. if you want to be micheal angelo, it should also be perpendicular to the strings. you should probably have it pointing the same direction as your index finger.
i just tried and theres no way i could play a guitar like that picture, unless hes using the rounded end of the pick, in which case, that pictures fine.

led zep heartbreaker , but not exactly , a bit of adlib there. now go on laff , first off its impossible to dupe the first solo because when they recorded it in 1970 they sped up the tape , and secondly page being a master in studio overdubbed his guitars a shitload so try and dupe any zep song with one guitar , thats why live they never did it the studio way listen to live bootlegs and the song remains the same , the second solo is even better than the first one

Wtf? I saw this pic in a thread in the Decrepit Birth forums. The poster originally said to NOT hold the pic this way -called "banana thumb"- because it becomes very tiring. I might try this method just to experiment though, I'm pretty sure you'll get a lot of ph's right this way, but maybe your tremolo picking will suffer...

Most parts of Europe's Aphasia. Not a complicated song but very good one though.

Megadeth- Holy Wars...The Punishment due
The solos were tougher than I thought. Friedman's phrasing is so brilliant, I love it.
Edit: Oh yes, a while ago I memorized solfegietto by J.S Bach and I can play most of it pretty damn well.

just shredded my way through domination. made all the harder by the fact that the tabs are pitiful. i just watched dime play it like 1000 times....that bit when he descends on frets 12 15 18 down all six strings (and jumps up one twice) is mucho hard dammit!
that and ive nailed the solo to "goodbye to romance". short, and meaningfull. man randy rhoads rocks!

A couple in the past few months:
Wintersun - Beyond the Dark Sun(awesome, I like this band more than CoB).
Ensiferum - Iron(also like Wintersun).
Death - Symbolic
Vader - Fractal Light
Bathory - Opening to Foreverdark Woods, Nordland, Blood Fire Death, and Valhalla.
Amon Amarth - The Mighty Doors of the Speargod's Hall, The Sound of 8 Hooves.
Sodom - Nuclear Winter.
Decapitated - Most of Winds of Creation and The First Damned, and what I was missing from Babylon's Pride(the interlude riff).
Immortal - Blashyrkh(Mighty Ravendark).
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Dismember - Misanthropic.
Nirvana - I Hate Myself and Want to Die. lol, not challenging at all. The song has like 3 riffs.
Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
Motörhead - No Class, with some improvised pentatonic garbage I came up with over it.
Megadeth - Of Mice and Men.
Learning songs is pretty much all I do with my free time.

But haven't really learnt any full song yet, been playing for about a year. I am getting myself together now and starting practicing full songs.
