no, its not that hard. the only thing thats hard is the rythms. and for that just listen to the cd/song. its a great song to learn. the only part that sounds hard is the little tap part. so go ahead and learn it.

Funeral in Carpathia (Cradle of Filth) and Bodom Night (Children of Bodom). Funeral in Carpathia is a kick ass song.

the tap part is pretty doable. It's the wicked fast lefthand piece after the first theme that gives me cramps
I have my guitar exam in 2 weeks, this is what i learned for it:
Martin Taylor - Film 98 theme
Motorhead - Jack the Ripper
Joe Satriani - Midnight
Joe Satriani - A Train of Angels
Joe Satriani - Always with me Always with you

Necrophagist - parts of the Fermented Offal Discharge solo, which is coming along suprising well. Not exactly "conquered" though.

This thread really caught on eh! Right on.
I've been learning Solfeggietto (no clue on the spelling) by J.S Bach for the past little while. I've really gotten into classical guitar lately and i'm starting lessons for it this fall.

Indeed praise Muhammed
Its the goddamndest thing, I can sweep faster than I can shred. Its fucking weird, I can do most all of the sweeping in that solo, but when it comes to speed, i.e. any Slayer solo, I cant do it.

I feel your pain, though I've learned just about every Slayer solo at one point or another, my shredding is no where near up to par with my sweeping.

Yes, h4x5k8 and I were going to learn it. I have learned bars 109-125 in the powertab version so far, but I don't think I am capable of the rest. I will still try it though!!

I used Slayer as an example since MTM said he couldnt even play a Slayer solo. My point is that I can sweep better than I can do fast alternate picked runs. Which makes no sense since I was introduced to arpeggios much latter on than I was to typical scale run-esque shredding.

I'd say the majority of people can sweep faster than they can shred. When you are sweeping the picking motion is rather simple compared to how fast you have to go when picking individual notes. Make sense?
I finished Solfeggietto today

Once I get my seven string guitar in, I'm going to re-learn how to play "Frantic Disembowelment". And work it to higher tempos.
Switching from my oddball tuning ( low to high : A E A E A E ) to a standard tuning is like learning how to play all over again.
But of course, "Frantic Disembowelment" is a 'holy grail' of heavy metal rythm stylings, so as long as I can play that, I'm good

those are sometimes the best. the ones where you can play without really thinking...and then sooner or later you start to imagine that youre playing that song for an audience. thats when the mirror playing/rock star antics start

Haha glad you said that, i dont feel so crazy now
I've just been practising my sweeps in a solo I made, getting them up to speed. Its already as fast as I want, but its gotta get cleaner and faster still, and then some more
But i broke my e string today fuckit. It was real strange, it made a real funny fuckin noise thru the amp on the 16th fret on high-e, and i did a bend and snap.
Now i have to get off my ass, nooooooooo

hi im new jeje
the last one i learned was Shroud by Cryptopsy, it took me like 2 - 3 hours, i didnt tab it though, i just downloaded the tab
i would like to know if any of you guys could tell me what song should i learn next, or if you could, make a list of the most difficult songs there are in death metal, or metal in general.
songs i know how to play and i think are quite difficult:
frantic disembowelment (not 100% perfect)
shroud
crown of horns (with solo)
phobophile (with solo)
stabwound
btw, if somebody knows where to find (or can make) a tab from the solo in "Cold Hate, Warm Blood" by cryptopsy please tell me

Some of the songs that I've learned in the past couple of months:
Krisiun - Cursed Scrolls
Suffocation - Catatonia
Vader - Cold Demons
Terrorizer - Fear of Napalm
Morbid Angel - Chapel of Ghouls, Immortal Rites, and Maze of Torment, Dominate, Rapture, currently working on World of Shit(and tabbing it).
Decapitated - Babylon's Pride.
I know so many riffs from different songs that I don't know which to sit down with and learn next. As soon as I get some new thicker strings I'm going to try Decrepit Birth - Prelude to the Apocalypse and Yura's Wormed tab. I've been meaning to learn "Flag of Hate" by Kreator for some time, maybe I'll do it while I still have these flimsy-ass super light strings that are only good for E tuning(hell probably F tuning, since even E tuning is flimsy as fuck).

Epitaph up to the vocals I have that sweep in the second riff down pretty well... I learned the first 15 seconds of the solo as well, with the 5 sweeps, but cannot play it quite to speed yet :/

Nice man!
At the moment I'm learning Ignominious and Pale. First I want to learn all the rhythm stuff before I go to the solos......

I'm working my way through "Savage" by Cacophony. I can play up to that crazy 12-tone part, but not from memory I have to have the tab near by. Such an amazing song.

I'm trying to conquer 'I' by Meshuggah. At least the first 5 minutes of it at the minute, and that riff that bursts in after the weird acoustic section. Because the song is mostly repeats or different patterns of the same riff or idea, I'm using a rhythm fragment idea to get the patterns. And yes, it is on 8 strings, you can hear a super-low F amongst the jumbles of noise.
Wel the intro' can fuck off! Though the first three fragments of 3, 3, 6 on Eb repeat 9 times. I've tabbed the whole triplet section. The thrash section that's unheadbangably rhythmed can also get to hell. I've tabbed the riff before the incredible jazz shred (that was a fucker, it's so fast!) and the riff after the eerie acoustics (at least upto the vocals), oh, and the outro' riff.
I'll post the patterns another day. Question: How do you get there sound?!
Please tell me!!!! (Mnemon@hotmail.co.uk)
