My band has some songs up, if you guys would like to hear my playing at all:
http://www.myspace.com/band357
Let me know watcha think. You'll probably dig "And We Came..." and "The Rotting Edge" the most.
Also, I've got several videos on my pc... I just don't have a host for them. Let me find a way to share them, and I'll post them right away.

hehehe, here's one of my favorites... it's pretty short, but it's of nick barker from Dimmu. He's so fat, but so fast! Sorry if this is a repeat.
http://www.filecabi.net/u.php?file=1141854750.mpg
EDIT: the bastards at filecabinet cut the video short... it's about twice as long, and is damn good. Still, you get the idea.

Nick's a great drummer. I love that song too, wish they had the whole video up. Crazy drumming.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddGa...ch=necrophagist
here it is...........but ahhh. i dont know what to think
A>hes using push/pull but i cant tell due to poor lighting and cant hear it distinctly
B>hes doing straight 8th note blasts which contradict the albums recording
either way the dudes amazing, but trust me, watch it. i was expecting those blasts comming from the rim
if hes doing push/pull rolls comming in and out those changes im gonna walk into the ocean and never look back

the man has the most oddly placed drum fills and double kick patterns.
im not a big fan of his cymbal setup, but he utilizes it really well
dude looks about 18 or so

(obviously change the 'x's to 't's - just being careful)
There you go.
You'll need something to play the saved .flv file on - I use the VLC Media Player. Like all YouTube stuff, sometimes they go out of sync and stuff a bit, but generally they work as well as can be expected.
I have heard that the Opera browser caches the .flv file, so you can just go into your cache folder and copy the video somewhere. Not tried it, though.

Man i got a George Kollias live drum cam of a recent show they had. The best kollias video ive ever seen. Its absolutly crazy. Out of my 150 metal drum videos, this is the best.
The full video is 50-something minutes so too big to send...
Ill try and find a download link, or PM me if you want an awesome 2 min clip of it.

Thanks dude. Yeah, I threw some highhats on there. The day I recorded that was actually the first time I ever had the highhats on the set, so I'm still getting used to them. They are all cracked to fuck, but I figured I'd try them out.

Question about drum recording;
I'm going to invest some moola (money) in some mics for my drums. But I was wondering; how are cymbals recorded? Do you have like two dynamic/ condenser mics hanging above you on stands to pick up the cymbal sounds, or is there something else.
I'm also going to get a mixer, but I probably won't have questions about that until I get it.

Well, as a matter of fact i bought a mixer last week, and an hour ago i bought 2 microstands and XLR cables. The mic to record your cymbals is an overhead mic (in my case a condenser). Bassdrum and snare are recorded seperately. Normally toms too but i don't have the money for that hehe. I use CAD microphones.

Now, the mics for your drums (All Drums); do you use those one mics that attach to the rim (I think it's the rim) and that have the mic nearly pressedup to the drum head, or something else.
I'm a noob to mics and recording.

If you're talking about AKG clip on mics, you're looking at big bucks.
I bought clip on mics made by Peavey, and they're good enough, but bulky as fuck.
If money wasn't an issue, it would be AKG all the way for me.

I've seen clip-on mics on sale one time for under 60 bucks. Of course there are only 4 of them and I have 4 toms and three snares (But I really only use 2 of my snares).
Better start saving.

Nope, those clips were too expensive.
I bought mic stands with boom arms.
Still have to test them though.

No, normally just two placed symmetrically up in the air somewhere for the whole kit.
Do a search on the Pearl drummers' forum or something (- you'll find everything you ever wanted to know about it, plus lots of shit you won't ever need to know.

Sweet news. I may be able to get some recording equipment for my set for a good price....maybe. I've just learned that McMurray's going out of business, so I'm gonna go with my friend to there and while he's searching some 7 string guitars, I'll be looking for some mics and a mixing board.

Mikkey Dee from Motorhead playing a smart solo in the song Sacrifice. I'd never really rated him, but this solo is clean as anything, and his kit is beautifully tuned, even if the setup looks awful to me.

Crappy drumcam of me from a gig last night.
There's nothing fancy in this song or anything, and we're a straight thrash band, so there's no blasting or anything that a 5 year old couldn't do, really. There is a bit of 210bpm double bass at the end if you're man enough to watch for that long.

I recorded some new drums covers
Ensiferum- Token of Time
Decapitated- The Negation
They're not perfect but whatever, it was fun to do! I'm going to try and start putting up covers on a regular basis and maybe some solos, with better camera angles
