so far the splawn is sticking around for sure... the engl is undecided. |

I have seen that everyone talks about the engl alot, but what about the FRAMUS or the Diezel ones, it seems like no one cares for those models.
And is someone interested in a ENGL, theres one Powerball on ebay for 1500 dlls:

the mig i had was modded by trace at www.voodooamps.com.
a stock mig 100 has a thin pcb and a ratsnest of cheap wiring... trace gave it the voodoo hex mod/rebuild.
he rebuilt it all point to point, with only the highest quality parts... he replaced all the guts except the tube sockets and transformers.
he also added the brutal/savage switch that switches it from 4 gain stages to 5. and he added "global" and "bottom" controls. the global kinda changes the midrange freq's, and the bottom control works kinda like a resonance control.
needless to say trace took an already good sounding amp, and made it into an amp of "botique" build and sound quality.
of course the mod did cost as much as the amp itself.

Also i have a doubt, why does every famous band plays with other types of heads, besides the engl or framus or whatever boutique amps there are, why don't they play with this boutique amps, if they are soooo good.

ive noticed that a lot of metal videoclips, they use marshalls almost always (for as far as ive noticed) they might just get money from marshall to show their amp in the vids so everyone is like wooho marshalll weehee
not sure if thats true, but it might be, justb like it might be that the world is going down from a alien race thats gonna rape mankind, wich will result in 3 headed 6 dicked 34 cunted babys

got a head
got a marshall g100rcd cheap from a pawn shop and am very happy with it compared to the shit metalzone and practice amp i was using prior. (though it is nothing amazing)
I was wondering if i could get a better sound for recording by buying a cab and mic-ing it, or if running the head right to the mixer would suffice. (the mixer being my soundcard)

Yes I fuckin love it, I'm so glad I didn't get a Roland Cube cuz I wanted more flexibility with my tone. Not to mention it's extremely loud even at low volumes, and the quality is superb.
No way man, just a matter of fucking around with it for 10 minutes then you know what you're doing. The "Character" switches have 3 positions: Mesa-Boogie model, Marshall model, and lastly a Fender amp model. The other switch is Clean/Hi-Gain/Hot. I really don't understand the dif. between hi-gain and hot, can't really hear much difference. The last one is a speaker mod selector, you can choose a UK. type speaker(sounds nice and clear), a U.S.-type(sounds bassy and slightly louder, but a bit muddy), or "plain" or whatever, which is Tech 21's own speaker sound, which is a bit less loud.
Then you have your basic EQ knobs and reverb, and your master volume. It's not complex at all, they just give all those switches really stupid names.
The only thing that bother's me is that it's an opened-back amp, I'm just afraid of being able to see the insides while it's on. When it's off I always put a cover or something over it so dust won't collect in it.

Here's a kind of muddy pic of my current gear. Laney GH50L, Musicman GS-412 cab with unknown speakers (I'm gonna dissect this bastard when I have time) and a Peavey Rockmaster preamp which goes into the Slave In on the Laney when I feel for it.

yea it is, I really like it (well duh) best marshall they have out. I played it againts some peavys and shit they had there this won hands down.
good cleans, the 'crunch' is great for older rock shit while the lead is more for metal

Its a nice amp, has great cleans-really warm, and gives a fair punch. Its a little noisey when you engage the last gain stage, but thats to be expected, its got a real nice sound anyway |

the powerball.
new framus dragon(v30) straight 4x12.
and the sloppy rack includes from top to bottom: blank rack panel, furman pl tuner(power conditioner with chromatic tuner), rack shelf with engl z11 midi switcher, isp decimator pro rack G, rsp/rocktron intelliverb...
the pedal board isnt done yet. it's basically just a crybaby wah and the engl z12 midi controller. and my boss loop station for sampling. i might add a couple more goodies.
