With the H&K, especially for a BM or heavy distorted DM, the Warp channel on the amp is pretty 'dry', if you understand what I mean.

well, no.. It also depends on what you want. if I ever get the chance, I will record some stuff but my computer is upstairs and my amp downstairs, you see.

The Warp channel (it is modded, so what you'll be playing in the store won't be the same anyway) does have an astonishing amount of bass, you can go fucking deep and chunky. I really like that. Yet, it sounds a bit too dry. It misses the 'fuzz' you get in the shitload-of-gain-sounds.

Oh well, hard to explain without recordings or audio...

Who said I had it modded? It was modded before I bought it. The original sound is worse. Besides, I like the sound, it's really fucking heavy (see also reviews on Harmonycentral). It's just too limited because I play a lot of different metal.

Yeh I paid $150 aus, I was going there specifically to buy a metal zone, but then I saw that and it was $50 cheaper and I figured it would have more of the sound I was chasin, plus it had guts and pain and shit on it which I thought was a pisser lol. by thick tube distortion do you mean, like a tube pre-amp? or like distortion on a tube amp? i have good tube amp distortion but only when its low, if i turn it up for like practice loudness it sounds kind of cheap i admit it sounds better than most other amp distortions i have heard, but i dont know it just doesnt sound very convincing to me, but as far as it being on an amp, i do like it, it just isnt the best ever.

Is that the Peavey MS cab you were talking about? When I was slamming the MS cab that's not the one I was talking about. I thought the one in your pic was a VTM cab? The MS cabs I hate have the large metal grill on them and the triangle logo at the bottom denter of the grill. The VTM cab is pretty nice.

no, that's not the ms cab.... that's an old ass oversized crate cab i fell in love with an loaded with a pair of vintage 30's and g12t-75's.

i know what ms cab you're talking about... i used to own one... black, with the metal grill and a little tab that says "sheffeild equipped". i still stand by it as a pretty good cab for the money.

yeh, i have a pair of vtm cabs(the big ported ones), one's empty right now, and the other has a quad of eminence swamp thangs in it. the vtm cabs are quite possibly the best cabs i've ever heard(with the right set of speakers of course)... even compared to mesa, marshall, orange, genz benz, ect...

my only gripe with them is they're huge, awkward, heavy, and ugly as shit right now because they have no tolex and on doesnt have the right front, i just took an airline blanket and put it over a big grill for it's front.

eventually i'll be getting custom fronts made for them, as well as a custom tolex and maybe some other little upgrades.

i use the crate for gigs and practices because i can actually move it by myself.

the MKI and MKII just have the blue lighting just like my own H&K bassbase has.

there's leds for the different channels though. my powerball has 4 front and 5 on stage-board (z5) leds, in different colours. (green=clean, yellow=crunch, orange=od1, red=od2)

i just got my pgm30 back from my buddy who was barrowing it until he could take his schecter off of layaway... man i missed that guitar. i just restrung it and adjusted everything... beautiful. it's not for sale anymore.

right now the main cab i'm using is the vintage oversized crate cab in the pictures with the psa-1 rack. it's loaded with two old ass g12t-75's from an old jcm 800 cab. and then a pair of english made vintage 30's. in a criss cross pattern. awesome.

then i have a two space rack with a power condish, and then the ns-2 in the back of it. the blank space will be used for a rocktron intelliverb or intellifex when i find another one..

i really wanted an mkII, but those things are harder to find used, and they cost like $500 more, without the midi module .

the mkII just looks cooler imo, and it has a couple kinks worked out... i'll probably just have the mkI modded to mkII specs.

the main kinks the mkII has worked out is on the mkI, 2a(amp2 channel A), you really need to turn the bass up alot in order to get a good sound, but then on amp 2b it has soo much bass that you need to turn it down alot or it gets super muddy, and since they share the same eq it becomes a problem.

not that it matters to much, that just means it's more like a 5 channel amp than a 6 channel amp.. which is still more than i could use in the same band.

other than, that the mkII has no reverb(not a huge deal for me, as i'd use the intellifex for reverb anyways), different cosmetics, and a few tonal differences(subtle in most cases,but dramatic on amp2).

i still have a huge fucking boner for this amp though. one of the most amazinig amps in sound quality, looks, and build quality ever made.

i abstain from alot of shit that i havent tried. i did the drunk stoner smoker thing because when i hit like 12, it was the cool thing to do... then realized i needed some new friends and i should save my money for better things.
