Also, what drum machine are you using? And, what did you use to record it? I was thinking, "damn, that's a good drummer", and then I read that you had programmed the beats.

Damn dude, you've successfully fused thrash with death metal. I feel slayer on a riff, I feel necrophagist on another. Very well done my friend. Drums are brutal sounding, fuckin pounded my face in. You have good vision on the music and what sounds good. Which brings me to a question... when your sequencing your drums, I assume you have like many many small drum pieces that you bind together? How many measures do you sequence at a time? Do you just have your sequencer lay like 50 blank measures, and you just hack the whole song away in one piece? Is your sequencer very user-friendly?

i like that, i was trying to arrange it for, at the most, two guitars, so when the outro solo kicks in, there will only be one guitar, the lower one, playing the riff, if i ever get a band together, i want to be able to play everything live and have it be the same as it was recorded, so the fewer guitar parts, the better

Uhh I can't answer your question because I didn't use fruity loops. But i'd would say a little less than 50 patterns on fruity because a lot of riffs repeat themselves. If you have any questions on fruity loops feel free to email me. Thanks

Here's a little song i have been working on. It's not finished and it ain't the greatest, but tell me what you guys think. Btw it's my first time using powertab so some of the speeds may not be correct and i tune my guitar to C#.

alright.....
I just finished my new Piano composition that gets proffesionally played and recorded by a well known german pianist here in Bonn/Germany...
The Genre is a mixture of everything, but in general I describe it as experimental progressive modern jazz.
The whole piece is based on a story, which I can put online by any interest....
My intention was, to make the piece so that nobody likes it at first, but the more often you listen to it, the better you will like it.
Any questions? any comments?

http://www.angelfire.com/music6/yjm...y_a_asshole.mp3
this one is live at my 8th grade graduation. i even got paid $50 by my school.
the drummer was some highschooler
the bassist was my friend
and the rythm guitarist was some highschooler.
that was my band for about 2 months. then we broke up.
and the guy who recorded it cut it short!!!
i did some studio work to get the drums to sound like drums and to equalize it. cuz the bassists volume was much louder than in the recording.

Here's a cover i did of Vengeance Unleashed (Dying Fetus). It definitely isn't perfect and i didnt unclude the solo (im working on it right now). Well tell me what you guuys think, its obviously not perfect. oh yeah one more thing. on one of the riffs where it is supposed to be triplets, i did power chords instead. to me it sounds better.
http://www.digitalsoundplanet.com/M...8_000029284.mp3
edit: it doesnt automatically begin with vengeance unleashed. for the first like 5 seconds im just fucking around doing nothing

This is just a pretty cool sweep that I was playing with, so I decided to tab it.

I finished the rest of it today, sounds fucking sweet but i need to practise it more to get the speed up.
This tab doesnt sound exactly right, I suck at the whole time signatures thing, so a few parts are different from how I play it. But tell me what you think.

Guitarpro Tab...
Hey,
Been reading the forum for some while and came across this thread.
Just wondering if anyone is willing to give some sort of critique on a guitarpro tablature I wrote for a project.
It's meant to sort of Amorphis like deathmetal, but I think it lacks something
Just can't figure out what, too repetitive and generic maybe. I haven't been into songwriting for very long so I kinda lack in the theory department which you probably will notice
Anyway, here's the tab: http://213.114.243.147/krieg2-test.gp4
It's not 100% done, lacks another solo and the first one blows sort of
I'd be grateful if anyone took time on this

It sounds pretty good, theres some pretty cool riffs in there, and that solo isnt bad, and a cool old-school sound to it kinda.
How long have you been writing songs for? This is better than I can do (i suck because i have no theory either.) But I can come up with solos if i mess around with some scales.
Post it again when its done

Hey,
Thanks for the review, I really appreciate it
I started writing songs in guitarpro earlier this year. I've only had a guitar for 9 months sort of. But I'm trying to practise as much as I can, and read theory.
I've never thought about taking lessons or anything, so internet and forums are a great part of my learning methods.

Yeah I have just been teaching myself too, but i cant seem to pick up theory online Ill get lessons at some stage.
Oh yeah, I threw a solo into your song to see what it sounded like. It doesnt really fit in properly with the rhythm guitar (solo needs to have speed turned up).
Ill post it for if you want to hear it.

I'm not too fond of the rythym guitar.
You are a very skilled guitarist to be able to whip something like that up. (no sarcasm)
But please, never write songs for/ about loved ones... one of my favourite quotes is
"Keep love out of music except for love of music itself"
I sincerely hope you come to realise how gay writing songs for girlfriends is.
(unless the loved one you are writing about passed away)
and then its just embarrassing and stupid when you break up/ get dumped... a waste of solo's, riffs, vocals maybe..its just a waste.
sorry for negative/ neutral feedback, but i tried to be constructive

That was insane
That sounded great in my ears atleast, too bad with the rhytm part
It kinda gave me some ideas in what to write, but I dunno if I'll ever be able to finish a fast solo like that, I'm not all that good at writing great sounding solos
Big thanks for taking your time

Check out Necrophagist and Jason becker, and get some sweeping ideas. Seriously it looks hard, but its the easiest way to play awesome stuff amazingly fast.
Check out the sweeping thread too, theres some real cool patterns in there.

I think that it was a really well written song.
And good for you and your gf, it can be a major inspiration to music - obviously not blood-drinking metal, but thats not what all music is about.
Who cares if someone calls it gay, it was a good song. What did your g/f think??

Pretty cool, even if you haven't been writing songs for long. The first few riffs are stuff that I just randomly play when I'm bored, trying to play some Behemoth or modern Morbid Angel. :P The solo break part was cool. If you need to change anything, it's the chords in the chorus section, maybe work on the chorus lead too. Your song has an oldschool DM feel, that's a very cool thing in my eyes. Cheers.
Edit: Mr Big had Paul Gilbert in it? d00d... I had absolutely no idea. Yeah, I know Mr. Big, though I'm only familiar with that song "Shine" and the other tracks from the same album, they used that song in the ending credits for Hellsing, one hell of a song. \m/
