Alright,

I got a new piece up I've been working on. The ideas are all improv'ed during recording. I recorded guitars, bass, and programmed the drums in fruity loops. The drums are a bit choppy and repetitive. Programming drums is hard to get a natural sound, so I didn't fuck with it too much. I got a mixer and an audio interface for my brand new computer, so the sound quality is alot better than my past attempts at recording. The jam is a really colorful reflection of all kinds of music. With enough practice, I could play the rhythm guitar part. No way in hell I'll ever be able to do blast beats like that. I'd just have to find a bassist with a 7 string bass and VERY thick strings. and I would need a 7-string lead, a drummer (of course), and a singer who can speak Wookie... or who can growl like one. That would be so righteous!

I'll basically need 4 or 5 people who are not only willing to play this music, but who will also be willing to dress like Wookies.

Just finished a new song type thing. I want to give thanks to Danny and Evan, who both friends of mine going to school at full sail. Danny provided me with this drum track completely worked out, and once I recorded guitar and bass to it, Evan mixed it. So with that in mind, this song started as a drum track sent to me for ideas for a song.

I only had one riff 'worked' out, then rest was created during recording.

Well, the drums were just made up of 3 different tracks; BAss drum was synth drums, Toms were Melodic Toms, and the Snare was the Gunshot effect. I'm someday gonna retab it onto guitar pro and then I'll post it again.

You song wasn't too bad. It'd be better if you had added the time signatures needed to make it look more.... I dunno, correct. But it sounded good.

Right now I'm waiting for a wave file of one of my songs to be loaded on this hosted site. It's taking forever. It's not a recording, just the RSE version of the song. It's long, but the file size wasn't that big, so I don't know why it's taking so long to load.

i might sound like a dumbass for askin this but how do i submit my song onto here. its in my documents but idk how to put it on to this thread so you guys can listen to it.

Heres an evil, doomy little riff I've been up all night fucking with. No, I'm not a drummer, the drum machine i threw in totally sucks, and its not really finished, and is kinda half assed(although ive been up all night trying to figure out how to use the damn program!). My bass is a peice of shit and I'm not a bassist anyways so I turned that down a little low, cause it makes everything else sound like shit, but atleast you can still hear the bassiness. So, yeah, tell me whats you's guys thinks. Its nothing but 1 riff repeated over and over again with some spiced up parts.

I have that same problem with some of my riffs. You get excited when you write a new riff so it sounds great, the way your mind wants to hear it. I liked the general idea of your riff, maybe a little too slow, then again, I don't exactly have the patience to listen to doom metal, more of a speed metal type. Do you mind tabbing out your riff? I'd like to mess around with it (I wouldn't be stealing it though).

Haha my friend got some recording stuff for his computer etc, so today and a mix of and gave birth to this track. Nothing serious, just trying to get the hang of the program mainly... A few ideas ive had for a while kind of spewn into one thought..lol its no where near complete. I want it to have an epic feel to it so this one only be one section of the piece. just finished my first piano piece! This comes from my girlfriend bugging me after I perved her film music so now I owe her one and im not showing her any metal. I dug out an old piece and theme ideas id come up with two years ago and polished it all up over the past few days. Concept was loosely based on the onset of heart failure, which is why the drones get more frequent at the end of the main theme, and in various areas it all gets a bit darker or more jarring. Also explains the flutters!
Major prokofiev inspiration at 1:26!

I think composition needs alot of work but im happy with it at the moment, there are some parts that are way too unfluid. And yes the dissonance is all intentional, at least, where its most jarring. The rest is down to me being shit.

Its pretty hard writing without the idea of riffs, i reckon. Not hard, just different, and hard to break out of the habit of thinking "oh repeat that 4 times"
