hey dudes,
me and my friend decided to pay respect to one of the greatest metal vocalists in the world, phil ofcourse, so we took the initiative to cover songs from a couple of his bands. Majority will be down, pantera and superjoint. We wanna do a myspace, but i'd like some feedback on two songs we did recently.
Remember, we're not trying to sound exactly like the original, its just 2 guys drinkin and jammin, by no means perfect.
Here they are
The Phil Experience - The Great Southern Trendkill
The Phil Experience - The Man That Follows Hell

I just listened to "Man That Follows Hell". Sounds great. Unfortunately it seem that for the other file the website requires membership/sign in. Shit. But it'd be awesome to see you have a MySpace page. There's so many talentless fucks on there (heh, probably me included since the material I used is pretty weak), that it needs more good bands. I'd love to hear your Down/SuperJoint/Pan-fucking-Tera covers. Anyway, the one I did get to listen to sounded sweet. The vocals were a little...intoxicated at times, but that just makes it sound more like Phil anyway.

The "Devil's Dance" link in my sig isn't up at this moment -- the songs are still loading. But when they do come up, I'd be interested in hearing what you guys think of my arrangement of Metallica's song. The original seemed too pussy for me (well, after all, it was off Load or Reload -- can't remember which one). So I thought this sounded better. Well, maybe not my shitty vocals. But you get the idea.
UPDATE: Yee-haw. Looks like they finally are up.

Ok... i got really bored one night and recorded some ambience type stuff. Reason it is in the guitar forum though, is that everything you hear was done on guitar. I think it worked out ok, for no real set structure or anything, and I threw it together in like an hour and a half. Alot of it, is running a scalpel blade over the strings.
http://www.medicinal-waste.co.uk/ArchaicIntro.mp3
The samples are there because its going to be used as an intro for my band if I ever get the opportunity. Itd be brutal.
I really want to do more orchestral stuff like this though, and more thought out. Like, horror film soundtracks.

The latest riff in the recording i worked on this weekend. (demo recording)
Your opinions are wanted.
Our album due out in late fall.
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.p...D2406673101043A
its not death metal, black metal, anything like that so if thats all you like, dont bother downloading. Its just really heavy melodic metal in my opinion.

guitar needs more clarity...it seems to muggy or over distorted...It seems like some of the notes just melt in together which makes it hard to hear the melody. Other then that I liked it!

Black riff, probably been done before
heres a riff i come up with, probably done before, my mate says it's a typical black metal riff. Tremolo picking, 4 picks per note very fast.Think blast beat behind it.
e-----------------|--------------|----|--------------------------------
b-----------------|--------------|----|--------------------------------
g---------9"------|-------8"-----|----|-----------11"------------10"----
d-------9"--9"----|-----8"---8"--|----|-------11"---11"--------10"--10"-
a-7"-10"------10"-|6"-9"-------9-|----|-9"-12"-------12"-8"-11"------11"
e-----------------|--------------|----|--------------------------------
..................... x2.................. x2.rpt 1st bit
Shit it does sound like typical black metal, had to of been done before.
I'm gonna use it though. If it's exactly like something thats been done before i'll scrap it.

Here's some 'improvisation' (F# harmonic minor and a bit o' th'diminished) over a malmsteen midi I just did. Nothing serious, just for fun, so I'm not fussed about the structure or the m,any out of key notes... I'll work on it Though I turned volume off, around 25 seconds it sounds like the song has been cut apart then stuck together, but it's just from some scab on MSN messaging :/
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.p...EE20E0B2D14B8D8
Would upload videos but webcam doesn't work and a 1 minute one on my camera is 99MB
EDIT: It's in F# harmonic minor as I'm tuned to C#... Forgot that whilst labelling the file etc..)

Heres a jam track i made today, guitar and drums. The guitar is channeled left and right (2 tracks) so the quality is not bad. Check it out, gimme comments on my tone, ect.... Was pretty much made up as i went along but turned out not bad!

i liked it. i think you need to turn down the gain and dime those fuckin mids. its a really cool song. id scream over that anyday. at the part at 2:30, that chuggy part you should do the drums one way the first time than change them up the second time that riff comes maybe just double up the bass pattern.

Click on link to download you cunce
I've been really slack in the past 6 months as far as recording goes but hopefully I'll get back to it soon plus in search of a vocalist...

pretty good Anugrah. u got speed but u sound too much like yngwie or the other sweep addicts. u need to find ur own unique sound. but overall great stuff, just a little repetitious. keep up the good work though. u got some skills. just do a lil work on phrasin.
need 4 speed kinda reminded me of jason becker. i like.
good stuff. sounds like u have plenty of fun with ur music.

Yeah, you said it was melodic which definetly some of it was but I think some of it sort of sounded southern.. It was good though, I played it a few times in a row..

Heres a song thats starting to come together heres the lyrics
your baby - your baby - your babys dead in your womb
and you assume - in your womb - its alive but it has died
no clue - dead inside you - rotten baby decayed
Liquid bursts - the waters broken - mutilated waterfall
dismembered limbs the brain outside the skin
gashed open flesh worms devour child within
Mothers pussy covered with severed baby
hanging from the noose of the umbilical cord
Your infant - there it lies - being eaten by the flys
Such misery - Your baby - just a corpse cant you see
Your fetus - Is lucky - never to suffer
what could have been - I dont care - Smell of death fills the air
i just need four more lines

On Powertab Editor, hit F11. Fix all of that shit.
This is my current work, and I may come back later and post a lot of my earlier endeavors when I finish this one. The power tab is so cramped and sloppy looking, but I'll fix all that once it is complete. There is also a slight measure malfunction at the very end, but I think I prefer it cut off like that. I might change it later. Anyway:

hmmm something that I made after listening to Vio-Lence...made me want to make a slow to fast intro song thingy...It still needs some direction and more time but there are some nice killer riffs in there...

I liked the last riff the best. A lot of it was kinda generic, but then you did say it was inspired by Vio-lence I'd also say there were too many reps of some parts, but whne you take into account drum variations and vocal parts it would seem less with a whole band.

I guess I owe you specifics. I really thought that slow first riff was weak. It looked and sounded to me like some sort of beginning power chord exercise. The whole slow-to-fast intro thing would be great, but. You should really elaborate that riff a lot more. A lot of the E chugging is pretty weak as well. Some of the rythms in the song I thought sounded pretty neat, but as I said before the weak riffs sort of disappoint. I'm sure it's not set into stone, just giving you some things to think about.

Here's a short song (I think it's less than two minutes actually) that I made a few weeks ago. No clue what genre you'd describe it as. I couldn't think of a name so I called it 36 since it's my 36th song that I've made.
*edit*
I've renamed the song Frozen Sun, scroll down to my other post and find it. I made the end sound better in it, too.

Heres several songs (many incomplete) that I made while doing a project I called Barghest... never finished it... eugh.
ps: Nice song, Phlack, the intro reminded me of Iron Maiden , and the arrpeggios or whatever they were in Descent were good stuff.

Here's more songs, songs #2 (Frozen Sun) and #3 (Journey Through Consciousness) I still work on every day.
ps: If anybody is interested in working together with me to create some songs or something, feel free to send me a pm! I can only work in guitarpro, not familiar with powertab, and I suck at actually playing guitar, so... yeah.

Few songs. The first one is death metal and the second is unfinished rock song that changes to metal in the end.

Here's my solo myspace page for anyone to listen to. I just use it as a dump for all the songs I record. The latest one is the one called "Exstinguishing the flame" so any comments on that would be appreciated.
Oh and please excuse the vocals on "Why angels fly"!
