this is called lamenting the lack of, its an acoustic song, one steel, one nylon, only two minutes, but this is one way of me bleeding my heart out artistically, so tell me what you think.

Thats really good! I'd change the 8th bar, it doesn't seem to fit the rest, but other than that, great work

Hi, I'm new here.
I've done a couple of full songs on Guitar Pro, and it fascinates me.
Here is my work. I worked pretty hard on it, so I'd like to get a decent review please.

i wrote a song for my band, heres a recording.
this was recorded low volume and was a one mic rough cut so other members can learn it and write lyrics.
this is nothing technically amazing or anything, minimalist doom, im the drummer but wanted to do this song and me band was into it. so its me on drums and one guitarist, i wish it was more distorted and had a better mix but is not even demo material so. i was wondering what ya'll think.

Now I stole the strumming partern from Alice in Chains - No Excuses and the idea to move the G chord up and down the neck from Stone Temple Pilots - Big Empty
1st Verse (main chords) (done 8X's)
e-3--8
B-3--8
G-0--0
D-0--0
A-2--7
E-3--8
1st chorus (done twice)
e-5--10
B-5--10
G-0--0
D-0--0
A-4--9
E-5--10
2nd Verse (done 6X's)
e-3--8
B-3--8
G-0--0
D-0--0
A-2--7
E-3--8
2nd chorus (the same part done twice, the new part done once)
e-5--10
B-5--10
G-0--0
D-0--0
A-4--9
E-5--10
e-3--10--5--8
B-3--10--5--8
G-0---0--0--0
D-0---0--0--0
A-2---9--4--7
E-3--10--5--8
3rd Verse(just like the other two) (done 8xs)
e-3--8
B-3--8
G-0--0
D-0--0
A-2--7
E-3--8
3rd Chorus (just like the 2nd chorus and the bridge comes right after)
Bridge (I'll break this down for you)
e-5--8
B-5--8
G-0--0
D-0--0
A-4--7
E-5--7 (done once)
e-3--6--5--8
B-3--6--5--8
G-0--0--0--0
D-0--0--0--0
A-2--5--4--7
E-3--6--5--8 (done 3Xs)
e-3--6--8--10
B-3--6--8--10
G-0--0--0---0
D-0--0--0---0
A-2--5--7---9
E-3--6--8--10 (chord pattern only once but repeat the last chord like four times through the strumming pattern)
Verse (repeat 10xs)
2nd Chorus (same as before, only this time you do the second part twice instead of once)
Verse (like 8 to 10 times and make sure when you slow down to fade out, the last chord you hit is the G)
Not much and I doubt anyone would be able to figure it out 'till they actually hear it, but it's my baby.

Heres a short acoustic break from one of my songs Where Castles Stand.
The end of it is fucked up, I couldnt really hear what i was doing because my acoustic blows for recording, but oh well.

I just put up a few new bits of songs up on SoundClick. They're a bit rough because they're only scratch tracks and I'm not exactly a full fledged guitarist.
Let me know what you guys think.

Start of a song I'm workin on. We (me and Zertonshfits) have written some more, but never recorded them. We'll post when it's finished. These riffs were written by me btw, nothing special.
I uploaded on this site, cause nobody checks it out
www.isound.com/necrotic
(view all mp3s or something. Cannibalistic Tranquility isn't it, that's our completed song.)

stachio, that shit was awesome, keep it up, and we'll be trying to tab your shit out.
here is a new piece i am working on, i am getting really into doing minimalist type ambient stuff right now, like the last piece i posted here, lamenting the lack of. this is just the beginning of the piece, i havent named it yet, so enjoy.

I was just wondering if this is recognizable to any of you. I wrote a black metal song a little while back and this was one of the riffs in it. It seems familiar but I don't know if it's been done. I didn't feel like taking up alot of space with each note tabbed, so I put the amount of times you strike them in parenthesis. It's played in a trem picking fashion (like most black metal, heheh). Hopefully you can figure out how I meant it to be played by the numbers. (my guitar is tuned a whole step down to D, but of course as long as it's not extremely low the tuning doesn't matter)
|-----------------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------
|-----------------------------------------------
|-9(8x)-10(8x)-7(8x)-9(8x)-5(16x)-6(16x)-------
|-7(24x)-------------------3(24x)--------------
|-0(24x)-------------------3(24x)--------------
It just seems too common or something, ya know?

what's the time signature and tempo, and is it 16th or 32nd note trem picking? i'm also guessing there's no triplets involved.
but despite a lack of that information... yes, it does look very familiar and often-done.

I'm not very keen with terms. All I can say is that you pick the notes in a repetitive up/down stroke fashion at approximately 170 BPMs. It's fast enough that all down strokes definitely couldn't work. The timings I put in parenthesis are just to let you know how long to continue that particular note (it's all trem style). So it's kind of like the chords (the 24x ones) and the lead notes (the 8x and 16x ones), only it's all played on one guitar. I think I wrote it when I had "En Vind Av Sorg" by Darkthrone in my head.

(this post was edited because the song is no longer available to hear, making it pointless to post the tab since it didn't have exact information on how to play the riff)

This is a basic idea Ive had for a song, it'll definately get more intense but for now here it is THE SONG
if it skips the first few seconds, just restart it and it should be fine

I liked the enitre thing with the way too high gain and the Ph's (:lhdevil but your musicianship seemed weird at the end of the song. I would turn down the gain a bit

Yeah this is my first ever guitar tab. There isnt any bass and I think its too repetetive and too "happy" to be any good. But hey...
Please give constructive criticism, or if it just sucked, tell me. Anyway, enjoy. (I can play it by the way)

Here's the final version (with vocals) of my first demo. I did absolutely everything in it (Guitar + Bass (GP) + Drums (GP) + Vocals). I know the vocals arn't excellent but it was my first time trying to sing so I guess it's not THAT bad..
(It's the third one.. the first one has no vocals.. it's called Ungodly Creation)

3 songs im making for my band- it will take a while to get them down but here they are in the early stages.
Note- number 2 isnt so much a unfinished song as it is a single riff. Its a neat riff though.

Yeah... hah. My last tab kinda got some people annoyed, so Im posting a new one here, that to me sounds much better and more like a song, esp since Ive finally figured out how to "Power Tab" anyway... enjoy.

Well REALLY honestly.. this is gonna get people annoyed too.. random notes with stupid signatures AND boring riffs.. do you actually play guitar or are you just trying to be cool trying to make a song with PowerTab? .. Sorry dude but.. you gotta learn to play before you try to write..

hmm
I actually do know how to play guitar... been playing for about 4-5 years now.
And I think I know why it annoys people. Do you guys like Norma Jean, Dillinger Escape Plan, and others some what like them?
I use time signature changes cause its actually easier for me to play like that. But mostly i play in either 9/8 or 7/8... throwing in some others for small parts that have should have a different feel. I dont play death metal and crap like that.... its kinda boring. I like Grind, Tech (math), and Jazz metal (like Ephel Duath)
Anyway, it sounds a helluva lot better on real guitar than in midi.

haha, i know what you mean dude. Thats fine.I was writing some melodic death stuff before this and it was alright but we wanted to started a brutal dm so i tried to write some riffs from the top of my head and thats how they turned out. anyway, i wrote the 2nd one before i tabbed it and its pretty fun to play. Although i like those alot im just glad to hear your comment on it.
Edit-or were you even talking to me? lol

haha i edited my post. Thanks dude. Definately a better comment then what i thought. And i wrote the second one from my head too. i just lied to take some of the heat off. Now that i got that one down im going to start on the other two. I have an edited version of number three thats heavier which i'll post here. it says number 4, but its just me fucking around with number 3. the other guitarist likes this better and i think we'll use this one. A bit trickier though. anyway, check it out.

Maybe.. but I have a really hard time thinking you've been playing for 4-5 years.. How many hours a day do you play? 10 minutes.. ??Seriously .. I know tons of people who have only just played for a few weeks that are WAY better songwriters than you are.. And how can you find it easier playing in 7/8 and 9/8?? That's probably the weirdest thing i've ever heard.. try learning to play (and to write obviously) in "normal" time signatures.. it might help you out a bit..
P.S.. No I don't know ANY of those bands you mentionned.. And if you think metal is boring.. Why are you posting boring songs on a METAL forum.. ??

Well.. grats if you can play all that.. that seems quite hard to play.. Personally.. I like the 1st one best.. but I can't really judge the other ones by what they sound with PT.. (except for one which I did.. )
How long have you been playing?

Yeah... you really dont know those bands? I dunno, check them out, esp dillinger escape plan. and about playing in 7/8 and 9/8... its just when I first was learning, before I took some lessons, I just played without bothering to count or anything. Then when I learned how to count, everything i normally did just sorta fit into (6,7,or9)/8 time. I can play in 4/4 time and the likes.. but I really find it boring. Have you ever listened to the Mahavishnu Orchestra? A lot of thier stuff is in time signatures way harder and wierder than 9/8. I cant play their stuff, though. And I do like metal... (this is gonna get me hated) but a lot of metal bands sound just like eachother. I think it should be mixed up a bit.
Oh, and check out Ephel Duath... they are from Italy.. true Jazz-Metal

ephel death rules
oh yeah...ephel death. i gotta agree its nice to hear bands doing something somewhat original. i also agree about the power tabs as well, some of these songs are excellent but they wont amount to a handful of dogshit if you cant play them. that being said i'd love to hear some of these power tab songs with real instruments, because some of this stuff is killer.

around one year, and i cant play all that yet except for song 2, which i can do easily except the tremolo picking. although my fretting hand is on par my picking hand is really under developed. But i started learning song 1 and i got the intro down ok and am just memorizing the second lick.
But i have a guy in the band who rips my eyes out at guitar so i could get him to play hard parts while i chill and play a powerchord or something, haha.

Hmm... spice it up a bit... add some rests, and perhaps staccato notes, along with more than just 16th notes.
You could be moving in a good direction... but its a very basic beginning.
Keep on going

nice! i'll definately look forward to it. yeah, its pretty tricky. I started on song one and got the first riff down and almost got the second riff down. Glad i finally added to number 2- that one riff without anything else was bugging the shit out of me.

Heres another try
I tried to write something a little more... standard. Its two guitars, mostly play the same part, some parts not. Its actually really really simple.
Anyway, Would anybody like to do a collaboration? Like... you (whomever you are), would write a song in pwr tab, send it to me, and I add a touch or two to it, send it back etc etc. Or you could just take one of mine and mess around with it.
Im not too ready to write in 4/4 time completely... oh and as a note.. the wierd sliding part sounds a helluva lot better on guitar instead of midi, fyi.

(well, this isn't MY song, but it's my version)
Being the nerd that I am, I just had to sit down and figure out Danny Elfman's score to Burton's '89 Batman film one day. Here's my metal rendition of it. You'd have to know the song to play it right, as there's no technical information on speed and rhythm etc. Just slap on some distortion and try it out. Alter it as you like for best comfort and feel.

Pathetically so. I've loved that '89 version since I was a wee one, and have since come to dabble in the comic books as well as figure collection and so on and so forth. Namely the Joker. Not really that interested in the Batfuck.
So you can imagine how I came to eventually idolize Jack Nicholson. Sad, I know. But everybody's gotta have some inspiration. It does contradict my metal side, though. I often have urges to play clown music and dance around the house laughing my ass off. That can't be healthy.

Here's a clip of one of my songs. Shittily recorded, but I wanted to share my progress with some of you guys. Have finally formed a band with a few others that are interested in doing death metal.
Nothing special about the recording, just intended to show the song structure so far to rest of band. Done through a £1 microphone and guitar pro as the backing. Out of time in places sorry as GP volume had to be stupidly low to balance the volumes :/
It does maybe feel a bit droney but attempts at things like tempo changes etc have sounded shat as I can't use the drums very well and make transisitions etc. Any comments on the general flow?
http://download.yousendit.com/700C87D97D6ECA0B
Cheers for any feedback, or suggestions of bands/songs that may help me, I'm particularly searching for more drum track inspiration to jam to

I just listened to it. Kicks ass. It's almost visual. Supports the imagination, ya know? Catchy yet very heavy; not too all over the place but nicely constructed. Over all pretty good.

Wow. Almost 7 minutes long. So after I hit about 2 minutes, I just skimmed through. Hope ya don't mind. But I like the riffs. Definitely some sick death metal. Cool name too, hehe. Not too shabby on the drum programming either. The vocals reminded me of Mortician -- not much going on except random guttural noises. But it's nice and low so I don't guess that really matters. What do you tune to? I like the tone and everything. Overall, sweet chops.

hey
personally i think ur song sounds better if the bass is turned up a bit more.
in a way, its gives it more melody, and beat.
other the that good job

I tune to C standard for that song, I usually tune to Bb or Ab. I got the tone out of a stock les paul studio and a line6 POD 2.0 plugged into the mic input.
