Favourite Solo or Soloist
Whats ur favourite guitar solo/Guitar Soloist? preferable metal.
I love the five in Angel of Death - Slayer, and Pantera have sum good ones. Also the Amon Amarth Solo's, where Sodenberg plays a softer rhythm, while Mikkonen's axe screams

The Tapping Part in Amon Amarth's "Death In Fire" that solo just fits in with the song so well.

My favourite solos are, in no particular order:
Unas Slayer Of The Gods - Nile
Inside Out - Anthrax (guest solo from Dimebag Darrel)
The Great Southern Trendkill - Pantera
Mouth For War - Pantera
Ride The Lightning - Metallica
The Revelations Of Black Moses - Vader (Mauser's solo)
Scars Of The Crucifix - Deicide
Dead And Dripping - Cryptopsy
Phobophile - Cryptopsy
Most Martyr solos are pretty awesome
Hangar 18 - Megadeth
That's all I can think of at the moment.

Beyond the realms of death, Judas Priest.
O.K. it's no metal, but the last song ot the last Pink Floyd's studio record, i don't remember the name but it's a great lap steel solo.

The tapping part isnt even the solo, they got one after it, but it is a godly riff.
My favorite solos would be:
CoB - Bed Of Razors Solo
or
Arch Enemy - Enemy Within

Pantera - Domination, Cemetery Gates, and Suicide Note Part 2.
Slayer - anything off the reign in blood or south of heaven albums are killer.
Metallica - Creeping Death
Burzum - War (although its too short, both the solo and the song )
And any Opeth song with a guitar solo in it.

Any Skolnick, favorite hmmm, probably The New Order, or maybe Over The Wall.
I really like the Tornado fo Souls and Five Magics solos. And the Mechanix solo on Rude Awakening cd is the ultimate slap in the face to Metallica. I could go on and on about Megadeth solos. I love Megadeth.

So beautiful....*cough* for Gorguts that is. The solo and notes just never stop, it's incredible. Very gripping.
Also,
Martyr - Warp Zone

GORGUTS RULE!!!!!!!!
I like the solo in Anthem of the World by Stratovarius. I haven't listened to them in ages but I remember the solo sends down chills which is key to a good solo.
Also Slayer - Raining Blood (joke)
Lots of Testament solos rule cause Skolnicks got that jazz influence.
my foot is numb
speaking of feet, the solo to Kissing the Shadows by Bodom is most excellent

Zakk Wylde Writes everything for BLS except the drums, that means the Guitars, Bass, Lyrics, and Piano.
But Zakk acually gets off his lazy ass and plays live.

In response to the original topic-
The solos at the end of Slayer- Haunting the Chapel
The solos at the end of Exodus- Seeds of Hate
The solos in the middle of Exodus- Deranged
The solos in Cannibal Corpse- Sentenced to Burn (one of the few REAL solos they've done!)
That's all I can think of right now, I'm drawing a blank. I'm sure I'll kick myself when I think of like 20 more later.

Shadows Fall - The Mystery of One Spirit
Elvenking - Dissappearing Sands
Slayer - Necrophobic
Ancient Rites - Victory or Valhalla (Last Man Standing)
A lot of the other Elvenking and Shadows Fall solos too.
Good stuff especially on the Dissappearing Sands...it has this awesome set of bends that just fit perfectly in the song.

I like the way that EP sounds, it has pretty much the same production as the Hell Awaits album, nothing wrong with that. The only thing I don't like about it is the dreadful bonus track, Aggressive Perfector... I had that bonus track on at least 3 different albums (Show No Mercy, Haunting the Chapel, a different version on Reign in Blood) and it sucks on every one.

some of my favorite solos would be: vader-whisper (it sounds like a big screaming orgasm!), exhumed-open the absess, exhumed-waxwork, cannibal corpse-unleashing the bloodthirsty. Anything by nile, iron maiden (cuz its so cheezy!) & rusty cooley.

Burzum - Ea, Lord of the Depths
The solo in the end is great, it fittes perfectly to the music and to the rhythm and it is good one to finish the song. Maybe it is not good by comparing to for example some thrash metal solos, but the simplificy and the structure of this solo which support perfectly the song works much better than any other solo which would have been in this song.
Nachtmystium - Come, Forth, Devastation
Usually it is said that solos does not belong to Black Metal, but in this song it is different, solos wont rise too high above the music and they are in a good harmony with the song.

I've been listening to Alice in Hell/Never Neverland and some great solo work on Jeff water's part, don't know it well enough to pinpoint any solos yet though.

the best solo's are in children of bodom's "kissing the shadows" and "mask of sanity." the sweep picking and dual soloing are just incredible in those songs. Janne and Alexi kick everyone's rear end. \m/ finland \m/

I hate to say it Jackson, but though I love BDM, none of the solos on unhallowed are worth mentioning on here. There is no creativity whatsoever, just up and down the scale. There are much, much better solos out there.
