NU-metal that doesn't suck
Have any of you heard the band Mushroomhead? They kick ass! i went to one of their concerts and they totally brought the house down...They do sound rather nu-metalish but they are 300 times better then Slipknot...
possibly the only nu-metal band i've heard that doesn't suck.

im not sure about nu metal that doesnt suck.
the only thing ive heard thats even remotely close to good nu metal is the latest skinlab album. that has some great vocals parts but is definitely nothing to write home about.

I used to listen to all that shit. I got rid of all the nu-metal except Static X and Mushroomhead, both of which are still in my CD rack. I RARELY (meaning not even once a year) listen to them.
All other nu-metal is fucking GHEY.

Static X's Wisconson Death Trip is pretty good, the doomy riffs from Otsegulation are cool, but I love the song Im With Stupid once the heavy palm muting part comes on.

I do like Static X.
As for other Nu metal  I will listen to anything once and I'm open minded about it, but most Nu metal bands just don't put the wind in my sails.
A dude I work with brought the new Slipknot CD into work for everyone to listen to... at least parts of it are better than the last piece of shit they made. The funny thing about this stroy is this person who I thought had a mind for music said, "This album is the best thing to happen to metal music in 3 years. In fact, this CD is heavier than most heavy metal", I froze in shock  Parts of it sounded good but overall I didn't like it. |

I agree with Atif, Skinlab ain't half bad, especially the old album, ehhh second skin or something, I got it somewhere over here. ahyeah, Skinlab Disembody : the new flesh. its not total crap.
Deftones is pretty neat too, they have a good live show IMO and some songs have a really chilly mood, but I guess they're more on the 'progressive' side of things too (especially if you listen to white pony)
as for Live, Mudvayne isnt bad, they have a crazy bassist, but I can't be arsed to actually listen to their cds (horrible...) same goes for that Chi-something band.

I would say my favorite nu-metal band(which happens to be one of my favorite bands) but I dont want to hear all the sh*t from everyone on here, especially the one dimensional people. Alright, Ill say it cuz i dont care. Ive liked Korn forever. I like the vocals and everything and I admit they suck musically and theyre not complex but they do know how to write songs. Plus they've influenced many people...probably for the worse, but at least theyre influential.

i got into metal thru old metallica and GnR, but the first more underground metal band i liked was prolly slayer, then on to death metal, then i found opeth about two years ago, and they still are my favorite band of all time.

Mushroomhead is okay, there things that sound whorese out there.
Skinlab is allaround a nice band, except theire Revolting Room that one is a peace of sheit. The same goes for Slipknot theire new album also sucks big time
As for Static-X,every thing that they have done after Wisconsin Deathtrip is crap too
Other nice Nu-metalísh bands wouldt be, Ultraspank, Devildriver, and i guess sombody would also call chimaira nu-metal band, but the kick ass anyhow.

I hate that one guy in Mushroomhead with that really crappy voice, he kinda sings like a old woman. Plus, I hate to admit it, I like Mudvayne. Both their bassist and drummer is talented. I hate to think of them as nu-metal though, I think of them as heavy metal. They're not really new, they've been around a while.

I think SOME of Korn's old stuff is OKAY. To be honest nu metal isn't metal, it's slow rock with whiney little bitch lyrics and low riffs. They could sound just a tab better if played somewhere on the 5th string, but NO if has to be LOW so they they play their riffs on a low tuned 7 string. It's mainly because of that that if you have heard one Nu Metal song, you've heard them all.

im confused as to why we are discussing racism in a thread thats supposed to be about quality nu-metal? not that there is any 100%. as ive said, its bands like skinlab that put out half-decent nu metal.
also, bands like frankenbok that started off badly but went good. i started reading good reviews about "blood oath" so i got the album just to be patriotic (their aussies too ) but its actually a top album to come after that garbage "greetings and salutations."

i have favorite bands from all genres. I keep a wide range of musical tastes and explore new genres. In fact if i was narrowminded like some of you guys i would have never listened to death metal. Im not a huge fan of nu-metal bands but i like some bands like mushroomhead. We may not like their music (and probably havent even tried to listen to it), and call it the crappiest music ever, but they are doing the exact same thing right now to death metal. You can't just say "Linkin Park sucks" or "Slipknot sucks" because more people like them than people like death metal. They are making millions of dollars for it...we arent.

Yes, they do make a shit ton of money due to their large fan base, but it has got to be fagile. Within one day most mainstream bands can break up and disapear forever, because MTV says so. I feel that most real bands make music for the sake of themselves. Most metal heads are not in a band for money or fame, but because they love what they do. I bet that if a metal head was offered to leave a band they liked, that got payed nothing, to join a new band, they didn't like, for more money, they woundn't. There is just so much honor between most metal band members that it's hard to mold them into anything but what they and their real fans want; much to the dislike of MTV.
MTV was great for music only 10 years ago... WTF has happened.

But some people are so open minded that they are like water and comform to whatever container they are put in to. This is a problem.
Some poeple are narrow minded and it's impossible to understand any other view for them, rock people. They will never adapt or fit in to anything. This is also a problem.
But some poeple are mud, not comforming instantly but also not narrow minded. They will listen to see reason, before going one way or the other, solid or liquid. To me, this is the way to be.
I fear that most bands prey on water people because their money flows just as easy.

yah man, i also hate people (probably what you were referring to as water people) who just go with the flow. My sister likes hilary duff, probably not for her music, but for her looks and because everybody else does. Avril wasnt cool a week ago but all of a sudden she has that new album and my sister likes her again...funny thing is so does everybody else. Its the younger kids who get sucked in, music is a way to be cool, not because they like it. A lot of albums get bought and never listened to because if they dont have it they wont be cool.

I remember a fews years ago there was a channel who's was called "VIVA2"!
This channel showed a lot of rock and metal music! now the channel is called "VIVA PLUS" and it sucks ! Fucking pop and rap music all the day long!
