so, ok, here's what listened to:
My Dying Bride - very good.
Paradise Lost - "Forever Failure" is like, a very sad song.
Anathema - good. strangely, it reminds me of Paradise Lost. which is a good thing.
Amorphis - they sound a little too fast to be Doom. but i trust you guys.
also, the same guy that gave me the November's Doom album recommended me Bethlehem, which is awesome. as a matter of fact, since no one mentioned them, i'll recommend it to you.

Those are more sludge. The two genres are easily confused, but Doom has a meloncholy like sound.
Ten Ton: You must check out October Tide and Evoken if you want sad.

thats kind of like saying thats not brutal death, its splatter core. If you want to classify it the proper way then yes, but the person just out there looking for doom isnt going to be able to desypher

you cant forget black sabbath, without them, no metal would be around, esp. doom and stoner metal.

Yeah Electric Wizard is good.
Pale Divine is good from some stoner/doomy metal. Awesome guitar solos.

Sabbath startred metal, and gave birth to doom. ask any doom band member who thier influences are and 90% will tell you Sabbath.
and who said Amorphis is doom?? thier heavily influenced from Finnish folk music...at least thier older stuff, heaven't really heard anything after Tuelua or whatever that album is called.
but anyways, SKEPTICISM, fucking epic doom right there...and SHAPE OF DESPAIR is awesome Funeral Doom...its in my will to play Shape of Despair during my funeral.

Dont.
I think that the sparrows aka steppenwolf had more of an influence on "metal" than ozzy did. Ozzy just has more notoriety so he gets all the credit

i would say that Sabbath was more instrumental in starting the Grunge scene than metal, accrediting metal to bands more like Juds Priest and Iron Maiden
................... but that is off topic
i would class Susperia as doom

The only Amorphis album that is a sort of doom is "Tales From the Thousand Lakes". It still has the folk influence, but is more mid-paced. Check out the songs "Into Hinding" and "Black Winter Day".
