2) Inno A Satana - Emperor
3) Track 1 from In The Nightside Eclipse (can't remember the name, something to do with infinity, I think) - Emperor
4) Track 1 from Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk - Emperor

OK, I know that's not 5, but I really am not a massive fan of Black Metal. Even so, these are excellent songs.

Because lots of us view Black Metal as a joke. It's hilarious, almost as bad as watching America Idol, except with more white makeup and instruments. BM seems more about visual appearance and shock-factor than actual music.

I don't care if you disagree, i'm just stating how I along with many others feel about Black Metal. Although it's very loved, it's also very hated. End of story.

And also the immense overload of Black Metal threads on here just makes me sigh in despair.

I'm not trying to convince anyone, I just want a fair discussion with good arguments and such, which can be educating in a way.

Well, if you consider BM as a joke, good for you then, you might have a laugh.

But your generalization is so wrong. Half of the blackmetalbands don't even wear make-up (oh sorry, or aren't they *true* enough for that then?) anymore. Even so, who cares.

Memnoch: SHOCK-FACTOR? Man... Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, ... *try* to shock people... When BM guys wear weapons and armor it's connected to lyrics and interests for history and so on... And what's wrong with putting up a "show" for your music? It's an additional element to the whole image and gig...
( BM Lyrics: a good deal of bands handle patriotism, love for history and pride for the fatherland... )
(and mind you, I disapprove of nazi or fascist shit lyrics)

Some BM sings antichrist stuff, Some DM does so too. Why do you DM guys feel superior? Even if you don't look at the lyrics. Because you wear a normal jeans to perform? Because you play more technical (or think you do)?

That's probably the best argument you've put forward out of all your posts.

It's good that you feel so passionate about your music. I respect BM and even like certain songs but I find it hard to get passionate about it in the way that you do. This is mainly down to the fact that, in my opinion, a lot of BM bands look ridiculous and I can't take them seriously. But I understand that a lot of people do, so good luck to them.
