I have an 85 in my PS-4 and it works just great with the other pickup. I don't know the sound of an 81 but I like playing both of my pickups at the same time. The EMG gets rid of that 'fluffy' sound you usally get when using the neck pickup.

EMGs are active, if you want the EMG to work with a passive pick up you will need 2 seperate volume controls for each pick up or get an impedance selector and then use the same volume pot for both.

If you want that brutal high output sound that most extreme metal bands have, the 81 is a good, if not the best, choice. And yes, it'll fit into your Washburn...like a charm. But you will not be able to have your passive neck pickup play unless you do what DEAD said.

No you don't have to have your neck pickup on. On my warlock I took out both hums and placed an 81 on the bridge and had no neck pickup on there for a while. I covered the hole with black thick electrical tape so my pinky finger didnt sink into the hole but you don't have to do that.
