New Found Power
FROM BLABBERMOUTH.COM
Former PANTERA Members To Release New Album In January - Oct. 15, 2003
The band formerly known as NEW FOUND POWER, which features in its ranks guitarist Dimebag Darrell (ex-PANTERA), Dimebag's drummer brother Vinnie Paul (ex-PANTERA), DIESEL MACHINE/ex-HALFORD guitarist Patrick Lachman (on vocals) and ex-JERRY CANTRELL guitarist Shawn Matthews (on bass), will be releasing their debut album through Elektra Records in January. "[NEW FOUND POWER] was a working title, and the official [band] name will be announced shortly," Lachman revealed in a recent e-mail.
Musically, the material "picks up where PANTERA left off and there is a lot more depth and dynamics to it," Patrick explained. "Vocals are everything from brutal to just pure melodic hook, but no falsetto."
As previously reported, the much-anticipated effort will include a guest appearance by SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor in a track called "Fuck You". OZZY OSBOURNE/BLACK LABEL SOCIETY axeman Zakk Wylde is also said to have contributed backing vocals and a guitar solo to the album.
WELL..IT's ABOUT FUCKIN TIME WE HEARD SOME DECENT NEWS ABOUT IT
I'M GLAD THEY DON'T STICK WITH THE "NEW FOUND POWER" NAME
SOUND TOO MUCH LIKE THAT POP-ROCK BAND NEW FOUND GLORY
ANYBODY KNOWS HOW THIS GUY "LACHMAN" SOUND LIKE?

WHERE DID YOU READ THAT?
IT'S WRITTEN THAT BOTH ZAKK AND COREY CONTRIBUTE TO THE ALBUM
BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY WORK TOGETHER, IT'S PROBABLY 2 DIFFERENT
SONGS

-*^*-UPDATE!-*^*-
PANTERA guitarist Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul have officially named their new band DAMAGEPLAN. The group, whose debut album is due January 27 through Elektra Records, also features singer Patrick Lachman, who used to play guitar in HALFORD and DIESEL MACHINE. Former JERRY CANTRELL back-up guitarist Shawn Matthews, who played bass in an early incarnation of DAMAGEPLAN (then called NEW FOUND POWER), is no longer involved with the project (a replacement bassist may be announced as early as this Friday, according to the group's management). The album, tentatively titled "New Found Power", was recorded at Darrell's home studio, Chasin Jason, and was produced by Darrell and Paul along with Sterling Winfield (PANTERA, MERCYFUL FATE). Guests include SLIPKNOT's Corey Taylor (lead vocals on second verse and bridge and half of last verse in "Fuck You") and OZZY OSBOURNE/BLACK LABEL SOCIETY guitarist Zakk Wylde (lead outro on "Reborn" and backing vocals on "Soulbleed").
The complete track listing for the CD is as follows:
01. Wake Up
02. NFP (New Found Power)
03. Pride
04. Blunt Force Trauma
05. Save Me
06. Explode
07. Fuck You (feat. Corey Taylor)
08. Cold Blooded
09. Reborn (feat. Zakk Wylde)
10. Blink of An Eye
11. Breathing New Life
12. Crawl
13. Moment Of Truth
14. Soulbleed (feat. Zakk Wylde)
DAMAGEPLAN's debut album is scheduled to be mastered on October 21-22 in New York City. A world tour in support of the CD will follow in early 2004. The group's official web site, www.damageplan.com, will be launched shortly
