what's a point of having 3 string for one note??? I mean, they're so thick you wont be able to play the properly all at one time. Only if each string has a small difference, but that doesn't have a point - just play on frets. So i really can't see a purpose of 6< strings

It sounds mighty hard to play though.....unless the extra strings are really thin like those of a 12 string guitar or something. But, if they were you probably wouldn't hear them very well.
What about 8 string basses? Are any strings on those doubled? I'm pretty sure i've seen someone play one before and it had 8 individual strings.
