Too many god damn fucking god damn strings. A bass, in my opinion shouldn't have more than 5 strings. If you want a 6+ stringed instrument, buy a god damn guitar or a harp and shut your fucking hole.

Dunno, I think I could use one like that...

In my opinion this is like an ultimate giutar - you can solo both regular and bass style with it... It's especially good for proto-punk bands, like Pop Group, or Velvet Underground...

I'd probably even buy one, if it wouldn't be that expensive... $5,900?... Maybe I'd give $300-400....

The 9th string hears like the 'e' string (the highest, not the lowest) picked on the 2nd fret - it's called F#.

(maybe it's fret, actually I don't know the english name of it...)

My bass player uses one.And he uses every goddamn string on it.
And 6 String Bass,is a totally different way of playing then a 5 string or 4 string.
And he's fuckin' good.

Metallica used a 12 string bass in some parts of the black album for super heavy tone, but I say fuck it. People who use those never use anything bellow the 3rd or 4th string anyway.

what's a point of having 3 string for one note??? I mean, they're so thick you wont be able to play the properly all at one time. Only if each string has a small difference, but that doesn't have a point - just play on frets. So i really can't see a purpose of 6< strings

It sounds mighty hard to play though.....unless the extra strings are really thin like those of a 12 string guitar or something. But, if they were you probably wouldn't hear them very well.

What about 8 string basses? Are any strings on those doubled? I'm pretty sure i've seen someone play one before and it had 8 individual strings.

a twelve string bass is a regualr 4 string with 2 extra octaves.hard as fuck to play but it souds good.

I can understand bassists who are into chords (like me) playing a six string for that reason, but any more than six strings is a waste of wood.

Yeah, ive heard some bassists say 'more strings talent' but thats a load of ...

I like using chords sometimes, Les Claypool really inspired me into using chord's a lot more, well popped chords.
