Is that nor illegal? Whatever. The only thing I consider true goth isn't goth but gothic and involves old black and white movies, lots of big-eyed screams, foggy nights, and cool old houses.

God damn there's some funny pictures in this thread!
I can't take most "goths" seriously as most of them are like 12-16 and write all that god-awful poetry. Looking at the pics I'd have some respect for them if they could at least TRY to do their makeup properly and just chill out and stop acting all depressed and shit because it's "cool" and different. I know a couple of goths who at least dress well and when they go to gigs they do their makeup nicely, and more importantly they don't sit around all day and sulk, they are cool guys who are just like the rest of us, they don't have any pretences of greater creativity or intelligence just because they have corpse-paint faces.
Hot goth girls? Hell yeah, there's loads, you just have to know where to look, my ex had a gothy look and was fucking shit-hot (no I won't post pics  ) , again, she wasn't a boring depressive bitch who wrote poetry and cut herself, she was a fun loving metal girl!
In my opinion, dress how you like, just don't think you're better than anyone else because of it.

yeah I hate Baby Bats/gothlings they are the 12-16 year olds that everyone hates, but ACTUAL goths, especially the Female ones that arent fat or anorexic.....

Anyway, I just wanted to add that goth look - at least to some extent - is something that apparently can sneak up on you and take you utterly by surprise. This insight struck me the other day when I was in town. My selection of footwear is of some interest further on so I will explain it:
I always take the bike when I can, but there's ten kilometers to town so I often take my walking boots cause' they are so damn comfortable.
Now consider the following. I walk down the street, minding my own business when I suddenly see an apparition in front of me:
Shouler long hair. Sun shades. Black T-shirt. Black jeans. A silvery thin chain dangling by one leg. Heavy duty walking boots. The boots was really the ticket.
As all of you have guessed, this was a reflection of myself, with a look of perplexity to top it off. Every single detail in this outfit has its own pretty mundane explanation, but the result, the result, god damn it.
