Good to hear you're doing better, Soul. And sup, Graf! Have you scored a Japanese broad yet? What's taking you so long? They're bred to be the best. My buddy just married one (a native, she'd been in the States less than a year when they met a few years ago) and she treats him like a fucking deity. EDIT: (I'm actually thinking now that I remember you saying you have a gf? If that's true nevermind then and how are you keeping up with the long distance?)
Okay, seriously, is liking Merzbow on big fucking joke?

I don't understand noise / harsh noise at all. It's funny to brin a little tension into sludge albums and that stuff but seriously listening to it? nooooooooo

Yes. And it confuses me so much when people start describing its quality and giving it "attributes", like, "oh man, this track is SO awesome, I love 4:39, its genius". Are you fucking joking me? I'd really like to have a big harsh noise fan explain to me what it is they like about it, seriously.
I remember a long time ago in high school my friend knew someone that was all into that noise (heh) and being the creative dick I was back then I told her to keep him online so I could make a noise track as fast as I possibly could and to have her send it to him saying its like, the most genius thing she's ever heard and its from some super underground up-and-comer. I made a simple beat/melody, fucked with the wave shape, looped it, and then distorted the ever-loving fuck out of it while adding a few little flares to get the 30 second loop some variation (because I didn't want it to be boring!). It turned out as just one massive wall of screeching static and of course the person went ape-shit over it saying how awesome it is and to get him more and all that. I was laughing so hard she had to beat me into promising I wouldn't say anything or make fun of him cuz she felt bad.

Souli', that had to be a horrible ordeal, but it's good that they figured out what was wrong and can treat it. I hope you have a fast recovery and I'll look forward to some morphine induced posts similar to when a past forumer, John Mansley, maybe?, had gone to the dentist and was hopped up on goofballs. Funny stuff. But seriously, GET WELL SOON!!!
|
Nah, that wasn't me; unless the goofballs wiped my short-term memory, which isn't as prodigious as it once was. I suspect my short-term memory is fading, and as a result my short-term memory has been fading ever since. I'm hoping to remember what happened yesterday in 10 years time when it enters my long-term memory function.

Doggone it. Here I thought it was you. Was there another John person that lived in the southern US? Or maybe that's the one Bob and convinced WHAM! was his favorite band. Hmm, oh well, Maybe I'll remember in 10 years. They were both pretty messed up conversations and funny as hell.

Surprisingly those noise dudes get the cooles locations for their gigs like in a huge church (Drone-legends SunnO))) played a cathedral once if I remember correctly) or in a big valley.
There was this documentary about noise on youtube but I can't find it anymore, I hope they didn't took it down. They interviewed some noise programmers and according to them noise is like the things you hear in your everyday life when you're out on the streets but you simply don't notice them.
Hearing a harsh noise track is like a subway with a 10minute long braking distance!
This has to be my favorite noise/lo-fi track ever . You can fall asleep so quickly while listening to it
also a big LOL to your story. sounds like the typical hipster to me.

Physical definition of noise:
A superposition of a continuous spectrum of frequencies, possibly including the entire audible range and beyond.
If you wish to compare this to the process of selecting ONE frequency at a time, out of the infinitely many available, and placing them in specific sequences, I shall gladly slap you can call ye a cur.

Wow, holy shit!

I've got an old rare Symbolic tour t-shirt that's in fine condition. Think I could get ~$300 for it? I don't know how rare it actually is, but I have never seen it anywhere else (not online, shops, on people, etc). I actually bought it off of his mom waaayyy back in the day when she ran this kind of memorial/Death site. Back then it was a lot harder to find Death shirts (man, has that changed) so I just found her contact info on the site and asked her where I could find a shirt or any merch and she said she had a box of random unsold shirts and she'd sell me one. I really love the shirt (and its huge "METAL TO THE MASSES!" text headlining the tour dates) and would have trouble letting go of it, especially having got it off his mother, but for $300+ I think that seller's remorse would fade pretty quickly!

Loving some of those bands there... Coroner, Testament, Forbidden, DRI, Decapitated, Napalm Death, Saxon... I have no idea how many you could realistically see, but that would be enough to convince me to stop by.
