After 2 years of trade school for plumbing/pipefitting, and about 20 resumes later, I finally landed a job as a plumber.

Good one, Gomers!

That's great, BassB'. So many people go to a school for one thing and end up in a completely other field. People will always need plumbers so that was a good choice to pursue.

haha, very true!

Dylan - Fairly competitive, especially this time a year, not too much steady work for new construction..starting pay isn't that great, I'm a second year apprentice and I'll be making about 15 an hour, journeymen make 25-35 an hour around here. There is also lots of money to be made on the side.

And thanks guys! I'm pretty stoked.

Might have to evacuate soon, a lot of Colorado Springs has had to abandon their homes, the fires are just getting worse. I don't really have anything to lose but other people do.

Really, wild fires are getting out of control this year.

In better news,

Just got back from Memphis, Tn. and I didn't get thrown out of the Gibson factory this time. In fact I got to tour the place unlike the Nashville plant. In Memphis they make the semi-hollow body guitars. Coolest thing was the press machine they use to make the carve tops used to make weapons in WWII. Take that hippies!

Also Mrs Soulinsane and I have been married 10 years

If your cell rang, security erased/took all your phone; stragglers/wanderlustings were arrested, and ALL pics inside the factory will follow owners to Guantanamo!

Remember how "Good Ol' Boy" security escorted me out of the Nashville plant in 2005, talking to me about "national security"? I was in the US Navy then! WTF does guitar making have to do with that?

At least I finally seen what is done. Any China wanna know?

If you're only three weeks in, you've got to think of it more in terms of exercise and learning a new art than in terms of actually being any good at it.

For me it has mostly been no-gi. Done some training with a few friends. I did some judo for a while but I got sick all the time so I decided to take a while off. Gonna start training more BJJ when they start a new group at the gym. I like the groundgame more than the standing part with throws an such so why not go ground only?

Randy Blythe of Lamb of God has been arrested and held in the Czech Republic to face manslaughter from a fan dying at a 2010 show after he pushed him off the stage. Randy posted the $200k bail asked but is still not being released. If found guilty he faces 5 -10 years

I seen the video and Randy, plus a security guy, did push the dude, but should he have been on the stage? It didn't look like he landed badly but poor guy died a few weeks later after going into a coma. Seems the band had no ideal it happened in the first place.

Yeah, I was reading about that. Apparently the dude had jumped on stage a few times and this time ran up to Randy so he just pushed him away. How can they not release them if they post pail? Scary.

Czech Republic is still awesome, though.

I never did understand why so many people hated Heretic. That's a solid fucking album. I'm hoping that Illud was just some sort of cruel prank or something. I guess when their next album drops in 2026 we'll have a better idea.

A grimly hilarious interview with a Saudi executioner:

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=903_1340667941

It's safe to watch (it's just talking), but if you want to see the clip which brought him to the attention of gore fans just click this link:

NRSFWBIPF (Not Really Safe For Work But Is Probably Fine)
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=e17_1340660132

It's not difficult to watch, it's happening a fair distance away from the camera plus the view is obscured by a cop.

I think I'd ask for this guy rather than get the electric chair or the lethal injection.

Didn't watch (there's a surprise), but if I ever have to go I want someone to take me to a veterinarian. I've had to have 2 dogs put down and was with both of them. It's the most peaceful way to go. One of those necessary evils.

And Paddy, don't EVEN think you're going to be a vet just to do it.

Posting from my ICU hospital room. Since last Monday I thought I had a chest cold and decided to rest and take it easy. This Monday I'd had enough and went to get checked out. Spontaneous pneumothorax of the right lung.

The worst part was not having almost died but that I had to have the the chest tube put in while conscience because I had eat a few hour before. FUCK it was the worst pain ever!

Good news is morphine.

Fuck, are you OK now man? I mean, is it something you'll have to worry about in future?

By the way, you're not allowed to die without giving the mods 3 weeks notice. You're lucky you didn't end up banned.

Most of the time you're cool after therapy, higher ,but not extremely higher, chance for edema and a risk of scar tissue due to the chest tube which can cause a little pain while coughing.
Best wishes for your regenration souly

Oh and congrats America on giving a mentally retarded person the lethal injection. absolutely wonderful

We did? I did not know that. Nobody EVER tells me anything. I always have to hear it from a Third World country. Jeepers.

Souli', that had to be a horrible ordeal, but it's good that they figured out what was wrong and can treat it. I hope you have a fast recovery and I'll look forward to some morphine induced posts similar to when a past forumer, John Mansley, maybe?, had gone to the dentist and was hopped up on goofballs. Funny stuff. But seriously, GET WELL SOON!!!

Oh my god. My brain is so overloaded with fuck right now because of how absolutely retarded that is. Shit like this is actually impressive, that is, the level of total absurdness conspiracy theory 'enthusiasts' will believe/come up with.

I typed up a big response to that, but it was basically a check-list of everything wrong with that article and the world and was redundant.

Such an awful fucking thing to have happened. I was reading earlier about one of the women that died had survived another mass shooting a year or so earlier at a food court in (I think) Canada. That is some crazy bad luck. She had blogged about it too, I need to find it.

Has anyone here been in a situation sharing a kind of life-or-death scenario that involved a crowd of people (it could be a fire, natural disaster, etc)? If so, what? And how did you react?

20 bucks says we'll now have yet another crusade for simple scapegoats; computer games, movies, comics, metal music - that shit will KILL ya.

Just car accidents for my part. In particular, one which did involve a crowd and me getting closer to actually murdering another human being than I have ever been before or since.
Oh yea, in the unlikely case someone remembered, I do know someone who was on that Norwegian island a while back, but I'd really prefer to let that episode rest.

It's amazing how quickly these Ron Paul fans worshipers will jump on every tragedy so they can spin it into some complex and nefarious government conspiracy.

I'm doing much better now. Good as new except for the painful hole in my chest lol. Will know more in the next few weeks what is going on with my lungs, but it looks like a freak occurrence right now. Just spontaneous tension Pneumothorax. It is nothing I ever want to repeat, good drugs or not.

Sad to hear about the people at the movies though I just can't understanding this shit. That guy, Jame Holmes, must be mentally ill. At least he was captured because I would really like to know what the fuck is going on in his mind. Its almost like what happened to dimebag.

That's an interesting comparison, Souli'. Chardon is close to home so that's what I was thinking of. From what I've seen he's a very intelligent person, but a lot of them have no common sense. I'm curious about his motivation, but I'm glad some of his plan failed. The thing that really got me was when his mother found out it was him she was not surprised at all. Would that mean that there was suspicion of of him acting out and could it have been prevented somehow?

I'm glad you're doing better, Souli'. I pray the doctors are able to treat you successfully.

Good to hear you're doing better, Soul. And sup, Graf! Have you scored a Japanese broad yet? What's taking you so long? They're bred to be the best. My buddy just married one (a native, she'd been in the States less than a year when they met a few years ago) and she treats him like a fucking deity. EDIT: (I'm actually thinking now that I remember you saying you have a gf? If that's true nevermind then and how are you keeping up with the long distance?)

Okay, seriously, is liking Merzbow on big fucking joke?

Yes. And it confuses me so much when people start describing its quality and giving it "attributes", like, "oh man, this track is SO awesome, I love 4:39, its genius". Are you fucking joking me? I'd really like to have a big harsh noise fan explain to me what it is they like about it, seriously.

I remember a long time ago in high school my friend knew someone that was all into that noise (heh) and being the creative dick I was back then I told her to keep him online so I could make a noise track as fast as I possibly could and to have her send it to him saying its like, the most genius thing she's ever heard and its from some super underground up-and-comer. I made a simple beat/melody, fucked with the wave shape, looped it, and then distorted the ever-loving fuck out of it while adding a few little flares to get the 30 second loop some variation (because I didn't want it to be boring!). It turned out as just one massive wall of screeching static and of course the person went ape-shit over it saying how awesome it is and to get him more and all that. I was laughing so hard she had to beat me into promising I wouldn't say anything or make fun of him cuz she felt bad.

Nah, that wasn't me; unless the goofballs wiped my short-term memory, which isn't as prodigious as it once was. I suspect my short-term memory is fading, and as a result my short-term memory has been fading ever since. I'm hoping to remember what happened yesterday in 10 years time when it enters my long-term memory function.

Doggone it. Here I thought it was you. Was there another John person that lived in the southern US? Or maybe that's the one Bob and convinced WHAM! was his favorite band. Hmm, oh well, Maybe I'll remember in 10 years. They were both pretty messed up conversations and funny as hell.

Surprisingly those noise dudes get the cooles locations for their gigs like in a huge church (Drone-legends SunnO))) played a cathedral once if I remember correctly) or in a big valley.
There was this documentary about noise on youtube but I can't find it anymore, I hope they didn't took it down. They interviewed some noise programmers and according to them noise is like the things you hear in your everyday life when you're out on the streets but you simply don't notice them.
Hearing a harsh noise track is like a subway with a 10minute long braking distance!

This has to be my favorite noise/lo-fi track ever . You can fall asleep so quickly while listening to it
also a big LOL to your story. sounds like the typical hipster to me.

Anyone here ever listen to Unseen Terror? I've been looking for oldschool grindcore lately and came across these guys. This shit is just too awesome.

Sounds somewhat similar to Repulsion.

Physical definition of noise:
A superposition of a continuous spectrum of frequencies, possibly including the entire audible range and beyond.

If you wish to compare this to the process of selecting ONE frequency at a time, out of the infinitely many available, and placing them in specific sequences, I shall gladly slap you can call ye a cur.

Wow, holy shit!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DEATH-1990-...#ht_9186wt_1177

I've got an old rare Symbolic tour t-shirt that's in fine condition. Think I could get ~$300 for it? I don't know how rare it actually is, but I have never seen it anywhere else (not online, shops, on people, etc). I actually bought it off of his mom waaayyy back in the day when she ran this kind of memorial/Death site. Back then it was a lot harder to find Death shirts (man, has that changed) so I just found her contact info on the site and asked her where I could find a shirt or any merch and she said she had a box of random unsold shirts and she'd sell me one. I really love the shirt (and its huge "METAL TO THE MASSES!" text headlining the tour dates) and would have trouble letting go of it, especially having got it off his mother, but for $300+ I think that seller's remorse would fade pretty quickly!

Loving some of those bands there... Coroner, Testament, Forbidden, DRI, Decapitated, Napalm Death, Saxon... I have no idea how many you could realistically see, but that would be enough to convince me to stop by.

I remember first hearing them in Encino Man. I was like "oh shit what song is that!" long before I had heard metal.

Do me a favor and take a listen to this, would you? Something I'm working on. I'm kind of stuck at the moment, but I'll break through eventually.

I have a hard time listening to powertab music, especially slower metal stuff, so I had a hard time with it keeping my attention. It had some cool moments, but I'd say the intro riff goes on way too long, especially since it repeats soon after.

What is now the intro riff might not be by the time I'm finished. It plays longer the first time to leave room for a longer verse, but that could definitely change whenever I write lyrics for it. Thanks for listening, btw. Do you prefer GP? I could just as easily export to GP next time.

Browsers don't play powertabs.

Would be glad to give it a listen, but maybe in another format...?

Chris, you should look into buying cheap guitar DI interface to plug in and record onto your computer and then torrent a drum machine (I like Drumkit From Hell, but there's better) so you can put your ideas down in a much more accessible, hell, even releasable, format.

Here's a GP5. I tried recording an MP3, but the sound panel on my laptop is messed up and everything got recorded via microphone. I didn't even realize I had one. On the plus side, I got a pretty funny sound file of ultra low volume of the GP file being played and me butchering my own song on this awful acoustic thing that I love. Once I can figure out how to configure the sound card to record using the stereo mix I can have a rough mp3 up of the RSE playing.

Any comments are appreciated, so say whatever you want if you listen to it.

Fuckin Electric Wizard got stuck in a traffic jam and couldn't make it Anyway, I saw:
Amon Amarth, Coroner, Dark Funeral, Decapitated (Spheres of Madness and Post Organic made me almost kill someone), Dimmu Borgir+Orchestra, D.R.I., Endstille, Forbidden, Kylesa, Machine Head, Napalm Death, Overkill, Opeth, Sacred Reich, Sepultura, Six Feet Under*, Unearth, Warbringer and WATAIN.
I spent hours and hours just wandering around and watching shows while all my mates got drunk as fuck but I didn't had the time to compete with them. Anyway saw a lot cool bands and Watain definitely are one of the best fuckin bands around.

*SFU played Stripped, Raped and Strangeled and Hammer Smashed Face and seriously Chris Barnes nailed those two soooo fuckin much it was pure killer.

That really blows about EW not being able to make it. I'd be pissed. Sounds like you got a lot out of it though!

Even if EW were my primary reason for going, I'd still be jazzed to have seen some of those other bands. Since I've never even listened to EW, I'm kinda jelly Gomers.

The actual reason I went there were Coroner and Watain.
Watain played at like 1 am during a thunderstorm. Most epic and evil thing I ever saw and I've ever heard. Thunder, Wind, Rain, Fire and thousands of people screaming "Sworn to the dark", almost killed me
