Mike Smith no longer with Suffocation

SUFFOCATION interview 2012 Poland - Warsaw 04.03.2012

Inventor and pioneer of the blast beat, Mike Smith is no longer touring, recording, or jamming with Suffocation. The band is left with only 2 original members, Terrance Hobbs and Frank Mullen.

Not an inventor of it, but sure as shit a pioneer. No one did it like he did in the early 90s, he changed the game in speed and technique.

This news is old as fuuuuuuuuuuu. I'm not particularly bummed about it. Dude is/was a great drummer, but I'd like to see what direction Suffocation head now. I still enjoy all of their newer releases, but it's nothing compared to Effigy/BtS/PfW. I'll wait and see what direction the songwriting heads before deciding whether or not this is actually a bad thing.
