A big one. Haven't played much of it yet, with work and rehearsals and going out and what not, but initial feel is bitchin'. Way more of a focussed attempt. More "open world" less "sandbox" if that makes sense. I'll probably make a page long post about it sometime next week.

I am buying Skyrim tomorrow. I have heard so many great things about it. I loved Oblivion... so I will probably die from orgasmic convulsions when I play Skyrim. Btw the first person to talk shit about that game on here is going to fucking hell. Fuck you.

I would just like to take this opportunity to express my utter disgust at anything related to sky rimming. I mean seriously, it's gross enough as it is, doing it up in the sky (like what, on an airplane or something? among all those people?) won't change that.

Visually, Skyrim is a huge improvement from Oblivion in every way imaginable. The interface feels more intuitive, and streamlined. the character build system got a huge facelift. Leveling no longer requires a nap. Upon leveling you have the option to increase health, magic or stamina by 10 and pick a "perk" for a particular skill, similar to the perk system in the Fallout games. Alchemy can no longer be done on the fly to shed some extra weight, but requires a crafting table.. as do repairs. My only gripe really is that you have to physically visit a major city to fast travel there, where as in Oblivion the major cities came pre-loaded (first world problem, to be sure). The guilds have also been reorganized a bit. You won't find a mages and fighters guild in every city like in Oblivion. Now every city is home to a unique guild. Mages in winterhold, thieves guild in riften, the companions (a commie guild) in some other city. The dark brotherhood is still around as well. Didn't notice a huge difference with the new and improved AI engine, NPCs act more or less the same. The line of sight rule for sneaking/getting caught has been fixed since Oblivion, to the point where if you put a pot or basket on the head of the person youre robbing they won't see you, or remove the basket. music is epic as fuck. Too early to tell about the rest, I'm already hooked though.

I promised myself I wouldn't buy it until I was finished mastering my next album but I'm this fucking close to going and getting it today. I'm sick of having everyone text me all day saying how awesome it is. I feel like I'm an alcoholic and everyone is telling me how awesome booze is. NO ONE RESPECTS ME!
The music is indeed awesome. Here's a great little 7 minute documentary on the music/voice acting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLnPwnJJcFQ. A few years and that'll be Ian conducting the viking chorus for the next Elder Scrolls (AND YOU BETTER GET ME A JOB, EVEN IF ITS ROLLING CABLES!).

hahaha, thanks for the informative posts. and as for everyone who's waiting to get it and too busy to play, i'm stuck in the same boat. i'd like to get some of my christmas shopping out of the way first so i'm not struggling when late December gets here... but who am I fooling, the more time goes on the more i'm likely to drive to the store and buy it. it also doesn't help that I can walk into a Walmart 24/7 and pick up a copy haha.
also LOL at the death by orgasmic convulsions statement

I managed to make it through tonight thus far without going out and getting it. I thought I'd be fine once it hit 9 and the game store closes but you've just reminded me that Hickmart is fucking 24/7. Fuck you.

What's so amusing about that score keeping is the way the humans really keep shooting the ball into their own goal.

Skyrim sounds like something a certain Irishman would do on a butterfly filled summer day while laying on his back watching the poofy clouds. I hope the imagery is as disturbing to you as it is to me.
Rimming- Something Navy guys do to other sailors' coffee mugs that they don't like.

That's strange. I always assumed that the standard definition of "rimming" was actually invented in the navy.

It probably was. It would go right along with blanket parties.

I'm not sure at all that I'm comfortable with a question like that thrown into a critical discussion about rimming.

This is an excellent question and one that should rally the rest of us to endlessly harass him about until he either does what he says or concisely admits to being a lying, cowardly, emo pussy.
