You call that a wall of text? Man, back in the day, that's be like the briefest message you'd ever get out of me. If Paddy were here, he'd spend more time describing his morning stool than you did delineating the historical accident that is herpetology, and use more 'niggas.' Fortunately, Ginger is not here.
You still like Nirvana because Nirvana is awesome. You're struggling with the cognitive dissonance of liking them because your current standards of good music have more to do with easily qualitative aspects of a band than something like 'awesome,' and since Nirvana doesn't meet those standards you can't understand why they're so good, and have to ascribe it to nostalgia. But it isn't. Sheer nostalgia won't do it; there has to be something there. And that something is awesome.

I really think herpetology has the most unfortunate sounding/looking name. Fits Chris, though.
I still like Nirvana. Not as much as Alice in Chains, but I like 'em.

Actually, I liked (and still like) all the prominent grunge bands of the era, of which I'd probably consider Nirvana my least favorite. Soundgarden and AIC rotate heavily in a lot of my playlists, while STP and Nirvana get about equal amounts of love as each other, but less than the two former bands. Less significant bands of the era and a few post-grunge bands (i.e. Screaming Trees, Mudhoney, Bush, Silverchair, Foo Fighters, Toadies) get occasional play, as well.
As far as the lack of wall in that wall of text, totally my fault, Rich. It's been too long since people had real conversations and/or flame wars on here; indeed, too long since I've talked to anyone on a forum who had the reading comprehension and attention span to actually READ a real wall of text for me to even remember what one looks like, anymore. It's a sorry state of affairs, I'm afraid.

Gotta say that when we went to C-town the other day we tuned into a grunge and alt rock station that plays older stuff and it sounded dang good. I'd forgotten just how good. It's a bitch it doesn't come in better at home.

Apparently T.H. Huxley and O.C. Marsh were both pushing the dinosaur ---> bird theory in the 1870's. Huxley was the first to publish the theory, but Marsh had significantly more clout in academia, paleontology, and the scientific community at large. Both were huge personalities who were often controversial, but both are now generally accepted as having been brilliant pioneers in the fields of comparative anatomy, biology, and evolution.

I think breathing all that California smog does something to some people's brains. They shrink. Glad I got out of there. I always liked Charlie Sheen, but like with lots of people, add alcohol and drugs to get instant assh*le. Maybe they'll give him and few of the other Hollywood crazies there own show.

Well, yeah, that might have something to do with it. I noticed years ago on his show that his eyes looked really stary and buggy like he was tooting something. I guess I called it right.
Lemme see your eyes Joe'.

Everyone complaining about Sheen are a bunch of fucking pussies.
There are only two people who give a shit about Charlie Sheen right now; a. people who have taken advantage of another celebrity on a purported "collapse" phase to get up on their high horses and hypocritically judge that celebrity by a set a morals he/she doesn't even fucking live by and, b. people who are simply jealous because of the way he/she lives. Most are guilty of both.
The best part is he's right. He's winning. Granted, he isn't living life the way I want to or the way I would if I had his money and resources, but he's living exactly how he wants to. If he doesn't care how that affects his lifespan, neither should any of you. He wants to live fast and he's doing just that. People are just being judgmental because they aren't wealthy or talented or courageous enough to live life the way they truly want to. Not that Charlie Sheen is talented, but he sure is wealthy. He's wealthy and he's winning at life.

He makes us all look like droopy eyed, armless children.
I'm not sure I agree with the fact thathe's living the way he wants to. I don't know much about all of this Sheen-media craze but it seems like he's got a serious addiction problem and addicts generally aren't living the way they want and are miserable until they start seeking help and change their lives so it is how they want it to be. Not caring how it affects your lifespan is fine, but he's also not caring about how it affects those around him, namely, his children. I also think there's a part 'c' to your list, and that's that people live boring and hallow existences and this kind of drama makes them feel like they're important.

Part 'c' refers back to 'a', with which it can be synonymised.
