Favorite Slayer Album
Listen up..I'm bored and it's Miller Time..so pardon my boring ass post. It just urks me that people talk all this shit about " 'Seasons In The Abyss' was the last good album Slayer put out!" I happen to think Divine Intervention is by far Slayer's best album thus far. Anyways, I'd like to hear you guys' shitty opinion on the subject (Not really.)

No question about it Hell Awaits is the best. Though it is followed close by Reign in Blood, then Seasons, then Divine Intervention.
I don't know why everyone has a hard on about GHUA. 2 good songs, and 2 really good songs and the rest filler with recycled riffs. The whole problem is Kerry King wrote most the shit and he listens to nu-metal these days. Instead of getting mind blowing things like "Dittohead" from him we get total shit. They need to let Jeff write most of the album. All the great songs were written by him: Angel of Death, Dead Skin Mask, War Ensamble, Raining Bllod, South Of Heaven, ect. ect. ect. They need to give Jeff the guitar and tell him to write, take away the fucking wah pedals, made them tune back to Eb and start writing about Satan and war and stuff instead of stupid "I'm gunna beat you up cuz I don't like you, g!" shit.

That's 'cause it isn't! My favorite Slayer albums are Reign, South, Seasons, & Divine. I've listened to enough of GHUA to know that it isn't the real Slayer, it's nu-metal, it totally lacks the aggression and energy of the old stuff, and most Slayer fans will tell you the same.

I don't agree that God Hates Us All lacks agression. That's just silly. NuMetal is Korn (& shite), not Slayer. You can't listen to GHUA without at least having to nail a small animal to a wall. It is a seriously ferocious sack o' tunes & if you're only making judgements based on the fact that it's predecessor, that wretched 'Diabolus' album (don't know exactly what it's called, or how to spell it because I spend days exorcist-style vomiting  when it came out because it blew so much arse) sucked, you're a twit. However, if you've genuinely given it time & still dislike it, then I guess that's just what they call opinion, huh?
However, one thing that strikes me is how many people are saying that GHUA is a return to 'Reign in Blood'. Remember what they said about Divine Intervention (which ruled, incidentally)? 'Reign in Blood' is without question the quintissential thrash album. To save argument, I know that 'Master of Puppets' & 'Rust in Peace' were awesome, but Slayer pretty much reached the apex of their music-making careers at Reign & basically shat over everything that was around at the time.
In defense of all their other awesome albums, Slayer are just lucky enough to be really fucking good at being really fucking angry so they've kept making good albums pretty much ever since.
In case you didn't pick it up: my vote is 'Reign in Blood' by a very, very long shot. Furious, razor sharp, & really well written. |
